Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
Maybe it is just me, but we had superior flexibility with TeamSpeak to do the sort of things that has been discussed in this thread. Yet, people resisted it so much that it made it even worse.
I don't think some complex SOP is going to emphatically change the way people do or do not communicate properly. We can lay out everything in detail, like has been done in the past and people will complain it is too hard. There has to be a happy medium that people can follow without making it too difficult for newer player to join. The Meek shall inherit the earth..... after we're through with it!

Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
Perhaps we should all start reminding each other of the existing SOP's and go from there? It's not really a lot but a friendly "Hey dude, remember the SOP's" will go a long way to helping out. If we all work together, it will soon become habitual and thus normal. I'm going to make an effort to utilise the group joining tool but people should be asking when they get in the server, who's squad am I in?

Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
True. Teamspeak gives a much better result when it comes to squad comms.
I gave up coming on teamspeak, because there is hardly anybody there when the server is almost full. I hop in time to time. I dont know why, but alot of people are trying to avoid teamspeak as much as they can. They get told to get on, yet they dont.
On the other hand, i know teamspeak can cause some issues to a handful of end-user. That is a good reason not to be on.

Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
Using teamspeak or ingame comms is not the culprit of the comms breakdown. It simply comes down to respect for the leaders and each other. The SOP's should be read and understood to give you an understanding of what is expected of you to find your place of contribution for the benefit of all. I am learning how to fit in and helping to get things rolling for eveyone's benefit by listening to the leaders, following orders to the best of my abilities. I simply just keep my mouth shut and let those in the position to, deal with any problems. Even though we have two ears, we can best hear when one voice is speaking at a time.

Ok, here we go. I now have made it almost impossible to not read the SOPs to get the passwords. You now have to physically see (comprehension is a different story) all the SOPs to get the passwords at the bottom of the thread.

Also, as a added bonus we will be changing server #2's password more frequently. This will allow for people to "refresh" themselves with the SOPs on a monthly basis.

Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
I don't think the proposed comms SOP is all that complicated.
I did a "test run" of it last night in a TvT. It went VERY well comms wise.
If you are the platoon leader simply tell everyone in the briefing that the ONLY people who are to transmitting on Side channel are to be the leaders. All other info that needs to be conveyed to the team can be texted. If it is urgent, TELL YOUR SQUAD LEADER! No one should be on their own, lonewolfing is against the "rules" is it not?
It puts a little bit more work on the squad leader's shoulders, but it killed pretty much ALL unnecessary side chatter.

Re: Standard Operating Procedures on TG ArmA Server (1 and 2)
Theres some broken links in that SOP page BigC, specifically:
SOP (Game Play) - Dead Men Talking (not working)
SOP (Radio) - "cc" (Acknowledgements) (not working)
also I think maybe some descriptions could be updated, specifically direct comms, it seems in the SOP direct comms should be rarely used, but IMO its the best channel when working closely with your squad, cause it is not only waaaay more immersive, but its also good indicator to let friendlies know where you are, and because its directional its great when your reporting contacts cause you have a much better sense of what direction your spotting the contacts at.
