Its kinda disorienting to not have the crosshairs as reference when using trackIR

BD, you ever played with head-tracking and without crosshairs? It's a good example on how one can get lost within his own head

Other than that I really hate them white little buggers. Makes all non-magnified sights useless.

Indeed, when jogging or running, theres no weapon sight to look at.

I tried a addon on the former ACE forums, that one of the ACE devs made as a prototype. It removed the center dot in the crosshairs, so hip-fire wasn't super accurate anymore(but you could still use it in CQB). Sadly they haven't integrated this for some reason.

I don't think the Arma veteran no-crosshairs is very realistic either. in real life I have a pretty clear sense of where my hip-fire shots will go, but with Arma and float zone, you get no feeling at all. The crosshair compensates for this.

I agree with sparks here, no crosshair is not "realistic".

You can "feel" where you are pointing the weapon pretty well, not depicted in Arma without some sort of crosshair. The overly accurate one that is default is the problem. Also, when it is pitch black in the game, you have ZERO idea of where your weapon is pointed AT ALL. Sighting in doesn't help, because it is all just black

Have you tried asking any of the other Arma server admins about the server config? See if you can find the problem?

The current crosshair is indeed way to accurate, Having a large circle or something that tells you the general direction your pointing in would be helpful.

But i would prefer no crosshair instead of the current one that we have, As i think it makes things way to easy.

I would love to go to veteran mode on the server, but obviously with friendly tags turned on.

Problem is to have tags you must have crosshairs (it is a game engine thing apparently). I would rather have super accurate crosshairs than no tags any day.

The main issues I have with the settings with respect to TvT is the auto spot which calls out "unseen" targets, the map which shows the location of enemy targets to the centimeter, and 3rd person view, which is often exploited to look around corners and be super-aware in vehicles (ie: tanks).

You sure about this? I remember choosing "veteran" difficulty several times when being voted as admin on server 2, and we've had crosshairs but no tags. Being used to tags it was pretty hilarious at times, as one had to run up to guys and ask "Who are you?"

But have you ever had tags but no crosshairs?

There are mods out there that can get rid of corsshairs, to be honest the ACE team should have done this them self, i dont understand why they have'nt.

Very simple...those who would like this as the constant state, are outweighed by those who do not wish to have a hardcore game every time they play.
