I did my 9 months tour of duty for the Bundeswehr (staff soldier after basic training), but I didn't experience that much as it were just 9 months.

The first 3 months (training) were pretty intense, but the rest of the time it was more just hanging out and watching DVDs than doing anything useful.

For anyone who might be interested in NGCSU, you can personally contact me at teamfortman@hotmail.com or just pm me

I will upload some of my own videos when I get the chance

Some cool stuff I got to do as a cadet (for those interested):
-Shot some weapons (may be forgetting some stuff)
• M16A1 – Yes, its still use it… (ROCK N ROLL BABY)
• M16A2 – Qualified expert with iron sights, old school
• M4 – At camp (LDAC) you are equipped with one for the entire time
• M14 – NGCSU still used them for drill when I started (now have m16a2s), but still has a few
• M60 – Still in use at LDAC
• M240 – Used at LDAC and at NGCSU for training
• M249 – Probably my favorite weapon
• M203 – LDAC, U.S. Weapons Familiarization
• AT-4 Anti-tank system – LDAC, U.S. Weapons Familiarization
• M2HB 50 cal. MG – LDAC, U.S. Weapons Familiarization
• Mk-19 Grenade Launcher– LDAC, U.S. Weapons Familiarization
-Threw/launched/blew some explosives (may be forgetting some stuff)
• Smoke grenades
• Arty Simulators
• Hand grenades
• Star cluster
• 40 mm grenades
• M18A1 Claymore Mine – LDAC, U.S. Weapons Familiarization
-Rode some vehicles (I am forgetting some stuff, can’t remember names of vehicles)
• UH60 Blackhawk
• UH1 Huey
• CH-47 Chinook (at LDAC we did an air assault mission)
• HMMWVs
• M35 2-1/2 ton cargo truck
• IAV Stryker (at LDAC we had a mechanized assault)
-Wore/Carried some stuff (Not a complete list)
• ALICE Pack
• Molle Pack
• Assault Pack
• IBA
• LBE/LBV (outdated now a days)
• ACH
• Old Kevlar helmet
• BDUs (if you become a cadet today, you will probably never wear these)
• ACUs
-Did some training (Not complete)
• Got to go to Warrior Forge (LDAC)
LDAC 2008- US weapons familiarization day
This is the demo of the weapons, watch as the mk-19 on the tripod falls

God, watching some of these videos I remember how stupid/awesome some of the stuff was
Warrior Forge 2008/10th Regiment (Tomahawks) pt. 1

Warrior Forge 2008/10th Regiment (Tomahawks) pt. 2

• Spent a week at the Warrior training center (https://www.benning.army.mil/wtc/ ) doing things such as Landnav, rappelling, obstacle course, basic rifle marksmanship, ran some lanes with preranger candidates (these people are my heroes), FTX
• Did numerous field training exercises (FTXs), probably did 12 in 4 years, that may not seem like a lot, but when you are a full-time student and doing all the extra Corps of Cadets stuff (inspections, cleaning rooms, marching around, participating in parades, PT, drill on Mon/Wed) it wears you down having your Friday, Saturday, and Sunday lost
• PT every morning
• APFTs EVERY month (for contracted cadets, you have to score 180 your freshman year, 210 your sophomore year, 240 your junior year, and 270 your senior year)

It really is an awesome experience for anyone interested. We are looking for pretty much anyone, but if you are/were a scholar, leader, athlete, money can be thrown at you
That's pretty cool... I was an AFROTC cadet at the University of Houston for 2 1/2 years and all I did was PT, Honor Guard, learn to write OP orders, did briefings, and that's about it... HAHA... but nah I did learn a lot from these 2 1/2 years experience. I wish the best of luck to you in the Army, Igor! And thanks to all who have served in the military! We truly appreciate your services and sacrifices that you all made! God bless!

Tangowrangler,
How was your experience in the legion compared to your time in the US Army?
Was it harder physically? What other doctrinal differences were there?

4 years in the Canadian (Reg) Forces, training to be a pilot; and before that, less than a year in the Reserves, artillery.
That was quite awhile ago though

Spent six years in the navy operating a reactor plant (What Charles Darwin almost did). Served on the USS California (CGN-36). Which was a guided missle cruiser. So I missed out on the crushing pressure.

A few months short of 8 years being infantry in the Army for me. 1 rotation to Afghanistan, and 2 in Iraq. I'll be getting out soon.
