Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
With the amount of improvements made (specifically "up to 100% increase in frame rate", VON Fix, and AI improvement) this is a must have, even if your not using an ATI card or Vista.
ArmA Beta Patch 1.16 Details
I'm amazed that with ArmA II around the corner Bohemia Interactive is still working with ArmA, this has tilted the scale for me and will now buy ArmA II the day it comes out, must give my support to BI.
Rocco this does not have to divide us, we have the ability to install more than one patch at a time by changing the mod/patch name...
CheersTom Wilson
The M16A2 service rifle is a lightweight air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed shoulder weapon.
It fires a 5.56 mm ball projectile at a muzzle velocity of 2,800 feet per second. This is my rifle.

Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
rename the 1.15 beta directory before install if you want the ability to use 1.15 and 1.16.
eg: e:\ArmA\beta > e:\ArmA\beta_1.15 (edit your shortcuts to reflect change)
my shortcut for beta 1.15 (with Affinity set automatically)
Target : C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 2 beta_1.15\arma.exe -noPause -nosplash -mod=beta_1.15;DBE1;@PROPER;@ACE;@aceip;@opx-Avgani_1.5_Afghan_1.0;@VopSound_ACE_1.19
Start in : E:\GAMES\ArmA
my shortcut for beta 1.16 (with Affinity set automatically)
Target : C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 2 beta\arma.exe -noPause -nosplash -mod=beta;DBE1;@PROPER;@ACE;@aceip;@opx-Avgani_1.5_Afghan_1.0;@VopSound_ACE_1.19
Start in : E:\GAMES\ArmA

Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
I don't think it will fragment the community much more, at least not after the first few days. Most people that are running the 1.15 beta will update, and I doubt there will be any 1.15 server after a couple days. So it will be just 1.14 and 1.16.
And I have a feeling some of the updates are things that they have been working on for a while, and possibility things being worked on for ARMA2, so they just patched it in to help ARMA1 players. They are wanting to look really good right now, like they really care about the community and fixing their product, so people will be able to better trust ARMA2.

Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
I hear about some HUGE fps increases in the forum. Its also very good if they fixed Battleeye, this game is in dire need of cheat protection for public games, and at www.arma-rpg.com, we always get a lot of game wrecking cheating if we turn BE off.

Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
I ran a few simple tests to see if this performance increas is indeed true. Armamark and an unmodded Arma was used, and in each case I ran the test first once to precache stuff etc, then again to get results. This is the recommended procedure when using Armamark.
Results:
Beta 1.15

Beta 1.16

Settings used:

The important specs:
2x Ati Radeon X1950Pro 256mb in Crossfire Mode
C2D E6400 @ 2.9 ghz
4Gb DDR800
Windows 7 x64
Conclusion:
According to these tests, each run only once, the performance increase is 1.2%. It fits nicely within any error margins, so in my end this patch did not bring any performance increase that's easily measurable. "General smoothness" is something this test cannot measure, and I'll have to keep an eye on that while playing.Last edited by Fincuan; 04-25-2009 at 09:39 PM.

Re: Patch 1.16 beta out
Oh goodie maybe I can start playing again.
With ARMA 2 so close I bet this is some sort of beta systems test for the next version.
