They're both bad-ass military units that fulfill different tasks.

It's a silly show. Watch it for the ballistics gel weapon expositions. Don't take it seriously. After all, a real SF unit would've cheated and showed up to the fight with a company of Chechen militia.

LOL that video was hilarious, especially when the Spetnaz guy used his spring knife. Seriously if a fight between Special Forces comes down to hand-to-hand combat both teams have screwed up very badly.

I would've called bull**** if Green Berets would've won. Honestly. Sorry guys, but I have nothing but respect on the Easten giants Spetsnazs.
Edge to the Green Berets for the grenade? The two scenarios were entirely diffrent. Russian grenade was inside washing machine and the targets were several meters away. The US grenade was at the feet of the targets in closed room the size of a cabinet. Yet US grenade wins because it has more bang?
Then when they compare the main guns they get even score because "both did the job", how did the grenades not do the job then?
Edge to the US because Spetsnaz snipers aim was slightly off then they show the poor performance of the Green Beret pistol aiming. I mean come on. You saw that spetsnaz guy effectively aim at the right location to kill the targets. Then the Green beret guy just shot at the targets leaving two of the targets alive. The doctor wasn't there to compare the first target, who knows, maybe the all three targets lived.

I love you guys, but Spetsnaz are better.

EDIT: Let me say it this way. Green Berets are Steven Seagal, Spetsnazs are Chuck Norris.

Well, the Russians give the title "Spetsnaz" to any of their special forces, so it gets confusing. It'd be like Americans referring to each branch's special ops force as "Army Special Forces", "Navy Special Forces", "Marine Corps Special Forces", so on and so forth. Different taskings, but the same name.

Spetsnaz GRU is what was probably featured in the show. GRU is the Russian Army Spetsnaz, and basically operate along the lines of Britain's SAS and America's Delta.

There's also Spetsnaz MVD, which I think is it Ministry of the Interior? They're like US Army Rangers: better equipped than the regular Army and they assist the GRU guys in certain scenarios.

Then there's Spetsnaz within the Federal Security forces or some-such. They operate against internal threats along the lines of Germany's GSG-9.

US Army Special Forces' primary mission is unconventional warfare, specifically training and sometimes equipping indigenous forces to create internal strife. The direct action stuff like raids and HVT hits are ancillary stuff that's been added since the inception of the current GWOT.

Russian spec ops are battle hardened with the war in Chechnay and Afghan before that Urban fighting was wide spread in Chechnay anyway.
Green Berets are also battle hardened with the confict in Somalia Operation Restore Hope, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Enduring Freedom, but both have roughly same combat experience it would be a close call anyway but a battle between these two excellent Spec Forces would never happen.
I prefer the Irish Army ARW overall though........GO IRELAND!

I know the show is just for entertainment and all...
but I was kinda surprised that the Green Berets lost. I just get the impression that Green Berets are better equipped, and also more highly trained with weapon and movement techniques (like weapons handling, shooting, form/posture, etc). With that being said, I'm sure that all Spetsnaz can be a Green Beret, but not all Green Berets can be a Spetsnaz.
