Yes mate armaholic is the best starting point, just search "custom faces" once you get one of the templates you can adjust it as you like, then resize the 1024x1024 image down to 512x512 (less than 100KB) and save it in your documents section of your PC, folder ARMA Other Profiles, open up your player folder and save your new face in this folder and call it face.jpeg

Bingo, you are now set and then when you launch the game, go to your Player edit screen and select "Custom" under the face options and it should now show your new face on your character.

    Enjoy!

Thx for the tip mate! BTW is there a XML file for the Irregulars? If not could I create one and host it on TG? Or is it for supporting members only? (Blackdog1 could you PM me for that info plz)

    My new ingame face

Also, you can use a 1024x1024 jpg... but it needs to be under 100k if you want it to load to the server.

I maintain a roster for both SMs and non SMs. Anyone can be a part of the non SM or "member" roster, I don't like the term IRRs.

Here is the link for more info: Squad XML

    BigC,

I tried getting my name on that roster, but PMing Houdini had zero outcome. Who would I get in contact with to have my name added to ze list?

    Socom,

While some of those skins are fantastic, all of the masked ones will look terrible when you're looking at them in-game, because it will look like facepaint!

Who did that for you/whered you find it? Just havent been finding/seeing anything close to looking that realistic yet...

Edit: Alright I downloaded the face pack from armaholic and downsized the file size to under 100 kb but they still dont look anything as realistic as that and they seem to be a lot lighter in arma than when in the picture with the face all spread out and hands off to bottom right side, help?

I think the face being lighter is linked to your graphics card I believe some graphics cards have this effect. I don't understand why the downloaded faces are distorted? Are you resizing to 512 x 512? This should bring the image to around 75 - 85 kb depending what image you selected. The realistic look probably comes from adding shading etc in something like Photoshop, whilst most of the images from armaholic are good you can enhance them however you please by adding layers. I managed to download a zipped .psd file which allows you to add or remove various elements to the image before saving as a jpeg. This makes it much easier to customise your face as you can just select or de-select things like the gloves and sleeves, even changing hair colour etc. I'll see if I can find it. Mind it's no good if you don't have Photoshop.

    Found it

Nix. You have to tell us how you made it look like this.

Re: where do I find a face with glasses?

First off, I max out all the graphics options in ARMA.

Second, resolution of the jpeg is not a questions ... it just needs to be square so mine is 1024x1024... hence the higher quality.

The trick is to keep the file under 100kb or it will not load to the server (but will in SP). So I've eliminated all none essential parts of the skin with one single color to keep down the size.

Try to keep the image quality at the max (I needed to take it down at 7 for mine in Photoshop) and use this mask:

Everything outside the gray is useless on the soldier’s models.

    So:
Step 1. Use the armaholic 1024x1024 to create your custom face
Step 2. Use my mask to take out all the unnecessary parts (use the magic wand to cut the grey part out and use it like a cookie cuter)
Step 3. Save as close to 100kb
Step 4. Put in the right folder.

    And voilà! High resolutions face!

Here's my master .PSD with the glasses:

I don't want any twins, so please paste in your own face and don't use my scars/tatoos

    enjoy!

First off many thanks for making that mask but I think you are missing a part of the gray area, in the model pictures that I have theirs the top of the head thats off to the top right of the back of the head, to the right of what I believe is to be a nose from the bottom. And then I was wondering if these would still be good since the legs/feet part is taken out of them? Only real time the legs are shown is on civie models but if you were playing that one mission where its insurgents vs a couple squads of troops with the random AI civies running around to blend into it would be a quick give away when your legs are gray..

Also assuming that your using photoshop whats the highest quality you could save it as? Cuz even after cutting out the unneeded parts I could still only get it to 6 and it was exactly 100 kb.

Edit: and whats the black box area in the upper left corner?

Re: where do I find a face with glasses?

It's all a question of colors. If you have many tones the file will be bigger. Try to keep it simple.

Also, to make the mask as effective as it could be I've taken out all the unused part like the top of the head, legs, etc. you can save about 25kb just by masking the hair and other parts that don't show on the soldiers models.

Finaly, the box on the left side is the inner mouth.

BTW your rigth for that mission ... just play on the blufor side

    Good luck,

    Nix
