Excellent mission tonight. Everyone played their part, and the organization and communication was superb. I'd love to see this level of play in every mission.

Re: Battle of Pita: A TG Combined Arms Operation (Evolution Server / July 15, 2007)

I was leading Fire Team Alpha under Emale's command. I had Titus, Snipe, and ______under my command.

We operated as a Stryker company with two 4 man fire teams and a Squad leader. We loaded up the Stryker with ammo to the gills and then loaded into a UH 60. Said Blackhawk lifted off then hitched our Stryker up and moved out from main base to just outside of Masbete.

From Masbete we depolyed the Stryker, coming under heavy fire almost immediately. We beat the enemy back and advanced to their former position, taking the high ground just South of Pita.

Somewhere during this advance Alpha team spotted a squad sized group of infantry 500 M to our N, in the village. Our Alpha 3 had a laser marker in advance as close air support was coordinated from the beginning. We painted the target and 2 minutes later Harrier swoops in and levels builing and troops that had been surrounding it. Ground operations continued but it was really a mop up by then and shortly thereafter the city was cleared.

We assembled back in the hills for extraction. At the extraction zone we had 5 Helo's--two littlebirds-two cobras and one blackhawk. It was quite a sight seeing all that airpower hovering in formation and standing by to support our infantry force.

Blackhawk loaded us up and rose slowly, hitching up our Stryker. Lift off and away we went Stryker and all. All 5 helicopters flying in formation back to base.

This was one of the most immersive gaming session I've ever had !! Thanks to John C and Emale for leading and special thanks to all those pilots, both transport and attack, who made our mission work as it did.

Here is a video of the flight back home. Sorry for the bad quality, Window Movie Maker isn't the bestest:P. You may not like the first song, but i guarantee you will LOVE the second. This is the fist vid I made, so be kind. But please constructive feed back is welcome.

Every time I think it cant get any better.... a day like this comes along.

    Excellent work to everyone involved!!

Ive never flown that much and that dedicated for so long before(literally about 7-8 hours of commited air time)... and that really was what made this so immersive for me... From shuttling people to the fight... to Hitchin several repair/refuel vehicles to some pretty nasty areas... I honestly feel like there wasnt a job that I didnt handle as a pilot for you guys. Nothing much more nerveracking than hauling a full squad with a LB NE to pita and masbete and having to constantly find trenches to hide us in while the SUs and KA-50s were buzzing around... awesome!! I got some great practice with the helos today... so be looking for me to be doing alot more of that... I got the addiction to fly for real now! Roof-top Insertions anyone

Wow I'm really sorry I missed it... this is exactly the kind of action that ArmA makes possible and we should strive for.

And the most unsung hero of the day, the jet pilot! *Takes a bow the crowd claps* I was going back and forth between base and the Area of Operations flying the Air to Air Harrier, the GBU Harrier, and even the A-10 once or twice. While in the Air to Air Harrier I scored 3 SU-34 kills (BRINGING MY TOTAL UP TO 32) and several Ka-50s (I lost count!). Then as the battle raged both our Cobras went down and I jumped back to base and came out in the A-10 to give our ground boys some Air to Ground support. I took out 4 T-72s, 5 BMPs, 6 UAZs, and 3 BRDMs. I returned to base to then grab the GBU Harrier for laser targets. As said by Grunt I was given a target building with several infantry surrounding the building, I dropped two bombs and both hit leveling the building and wiping out the infantry. Great job to everyone, John_C kept it really calm and quiet (with one or two moments of radio chatteryness) and was an excellent coordinator. Good job to everyone!

Re: Battle of Pita: A TG Combined Arms Operation (Evolution Server / July 15, 2007)

    Sunday 15th

    Battle for Pita town

I took a few hits last night so the sequence may be suspect but the events are real …..

    Heli insert
A mixed squad Striyker, Razor, Shafik, Grunt, Portoman, tHa KaHn, Tam Lin, me and others …….. set off for the LZ @ South West of Pita.

We landed and set our point man to lead us East before turning to go North again
Approaching some high ground we met stiff resistance and took major casualties.

Back at base we tooled up and sky hooked a Stryker to give us some back up.
We set off walking this in.
We crested a ridge and headed down a gentle slope over open ground towards a small wooded area.
I got a bad feeling here…………. Open ground, tree line to the front….
    Whhhhummmp
The stryker burst into a flaming volcano there was a T72 hidden in the tree line along with a squad of enemy troopers.
We dropped flat and started laying down aggressive fire.
We could hear the 72 retreating towards the town, so we pushed hard after it.
Soon we reached the ridge SE of the town I think, overlooking it we could see multiple foot targets as well as a selection of metal-ware including the illusive 72.
We were weapons free& GREEN so we let rip cutting down many enemy troopers, a BRD, the T72 and 2 x UAZ.

The enemy mounted a counter attack in which we suffered major casualties leaving only three of our squad alive, Shaf, Tam Lin & me.
Shaf requested to withdraw which got confirmed so we did.
We set up a defence line just north of our most forward LZ to wait foe our returning buddy’s.
We kept eyes on North & West being the expected enemy direction of attack & lay down prone.

Another T72 appeared at our rear and cut my 2 comrades down, I was down the slope a way but their in-tel was hot & spot on as it turned and drove straight at me until the commander’s gun was able to depress and turn the green grass red with my blood.

We all formed up again at the base and joined our Pilot Fines or FROGGY to those of us that have flown with him, for insertion this time to a point from the west.
Why FROGGY well we must have hit the ground, mountain slopes, tree tops and buildings some 25 times on the way in. He complained of slight technical difficulties which were supposed to explain his erratic frog hopping approach.

Shaken but not stirred we arrived at our new LZ, this time we were going to follow a 2-man Stryker in a big white bus…….. All together now THE WHEELS ON THE BUS GO ROUND & ROUND-------- ROUND & ROUND ---------- ROUND & ROUND

Re: Battle of Pita: A TG Combined Arms Operation (Evolution Server / July 15, 2007)

I was on the ground as Bravo 2, part of E-Male's MIP squad. As is SOP, we loaded out a stryker full of goodies and Koala patiently (and safely) transported our entire squad and the stryker out to the LZ at Pita, along with a serious escort from several other pilots (this was sight to behold from the beginning). From there, again keeping with SOP, E-Male used the stryker as a rear operating base and used successive bounding to have the fireteams gradually work their way through the woods along with the use of air support, which was critical to the mission success.

Clearing the west side woods did cost a few casualities as well as injuries, however we were able to recover quickly using the choppers for flying in re-inforcements and the stryker as a re-arming and healing post.

Once the MIP was firmly entrenched after clearing the west woods, air support took the show from there using a combined assault. A particularly devastating laser-guided air assault (thank you NoDebate) took out half a block of buildings and the platoon that was guarding it. A few final contacts and Pita was cleared.

The return flight was again monumental, with a full squadron of air units and - the icing on the cake - the stryker was returned to base with all remaining ammo intact. Bravo!

Question: Does anyone have some video of what happened after the screenshot fest, just before server restart? Keyword "burning." Would like to see that video!

BOOOO John!! One or two moments of chattyness is two too many!! You, sir, are fired!

I am kidding. Most of us would simply not be where we are with this game (or any combat sim) without this man.

That was my 2nd day gaming on the TG server and just got to say that was the most organised coordinated gaming I have ever taken a part of.

Never felt like such a noob but cannot wait for some more!
