Exclamation Language Etiquette

Gentlemen the adminteam has decided to address unacceptable language on TeamSpeak.

There seems to be a trend towards a rather unruly language etiquette. Please bare in mind that some players/admins are running TS of their speakers with young ones running about in close proximity.
The ones with kids knows how little it takes for them to catch on.

We at TG wish to cater for all sorts of different players as long as they fit the TG mindset. This means that we all will need to show a bit of consideration in there, a lot of people find swearing offensive.

Therefore I kindly ask you all to think about what you say. We do not need to hear grievance followed up with sailors speak when you catch a bullet.

We will issue warnings verbally, and if they are not followed you will be kicked off TS.

Re: Language etiquette

To this, I'd like to add that while many of us have young ones, this rule isn't for them. It's for everyone, to help maintain the professional nature that Tactical Gamer seeks to achieve.

Every bank teller at your local branch may be an adult, but you don't want them swearing, and they don't want you swearing.

Re: Language etiquette

As a third addendum, I want to emphasize the importance of using Push to Talk in Teamspeak instead of Voice Activation. By using Push to Talk, you ensure that only the things you consciously want to say are transmitted to others. If you feel the need to cough, clear your throat, comment on the weather, or let loose with a string of expletives, DO NOT PUSH YOUR TALK KEY. Nobody on Teamspeak wants to hear this stuff (not to mention that you're probably blocking important mission-related communications) so don't transmit it.

If you aren't sure how to configure Push to Talk in Teamspeak, just ask. We'll help you get it set up.

Thanks.

Re: Language etiquette

Thank you. I was on earlier in the week when an unruly type was on flinging the F' word constantly and berating his fellow mates. There was a TG leader online at the time but nothing was said. I was very disgusted and logged off. I'm glad this is being implemented.

Re: Language etiquette

I was just listening in on TS the other day thinking about joining a game (it would have been my first). But the language was so bad I decided not to.

Re: Language Etiquette

This is starting to get really out of hand agian. Sadly to say I've caught myself a number of times. I'd like the get the players more involved in this and not rely on the admin team so if you on the server and here someone spreading the "filth" please speak up about it.

It has been noted in the admin forums and we will be addressing this with individuals who continue to push the line.

Thumbs down Language Warning

It has been brought to my attention that some are forgetting what their mothers taught them about polite language.

TG is a mature environment where we simply wont stand for ANYONE dragging their mouth through the gutter and subjecting everyone over the comms to hear it. Every now and then there are of course bursts of "excited expletive" in the midst of combat, which is accepted to a point.

However.....

BE ADVISED HERE AND NOW, anyone found calling any other player offensive names, or generally swearing on voice comms or chat is going to get a kick and a ban. We will not mess around on this.

Adjust your behaviour accordingly as there will be no warning given. If I or any of the other admins hear you running off at the mouth, you may be lucky and hear one of us tell you to modify your language, or we may just kick and ban you on the spot.

I appreciate that the vast majority of the gamers we have here at TG respect this, but there are some in the minority that are either a little immature in these matters, or think it adds something to their image, neither is wanted here at TG. So to those who are engaging in swearing, modify your behaviour gentlemen, this is not the gutter and correct use of appropriate language is an SOP!

You have been warned.
