Re: AI Precision on the servers.

The AI settings are controlled 2 ways, via a server setting or an adjustment made by the mission creator that overides the server. The server has NOT been changed as far as settings when it comes to skill or accuracy lately. This leads to the second method that has not changed since the last update of Evo.

And illumination cuts into the darkness.

Guess those that hate the AI accuracy can flood the mission creator's email inbox with pleas of leniency.

Re: AI Precision on the servers.

The AI have the same "mini-map" the player has.. Once you have been spotted, you are a little red triangle on their map.. Im sure they can refer to their map a lot faster than we can.

Like in our squads, if one SM spots you the rest of the squad know where you are.. I have found that if I shoot one SM, then let another see me and get away. I WILL soon die. If I can kill all six SMs in one fire fight, my chances of surviving to the next fire fight are greatly increased.

Also remember that bushes are not hard cover(including fallen trees). And any bit of movement will give away your position. Being a sniper, hiding in a bush, is not a well concealed spot. Your weapon puts off a LOT of noise and that little muzzle flash will give away your position faster than any other thing could. Not to mention that snipers like to lay still in one spot for "concealment". Once the AI has spotted you, one shot is all it takes.

OT.. In POE I kill snipers on a daily basis with a medic gun(AK/G36) with a single shot to the head, sometimes at incredible distances. They are always found by sound then sight of the muzzle flash.

ArmA is a sim using teamwork and tactics to stay alive and accomplish your goals. Dont expect to live for hours upon hours being out in the open, taking risky shots at the enemy and being alone on the battlefield.

The enemy need to be accurate. They are dumb. To survive you have to be smart about your movements and concealment.

In fact, I feel most of my deaths while with other teammates in the same area, happen because we were flanked. While setting up a defensive position I choose a direction that no one is looking. Then one of the team comes to my position to see what Im looking at, and bam we are shot in the back. When Im left alone(last to survive an onslaught), I use cover so at least one direction is safe, two if possible... sry a bit off topic.

QFT. Moving in a formation that is appropriate for the situation is something that doesn't happen very often on the server and failure to do so usually results in a shot to the face. But I've seen it, and it does work! Although constant movement seems necessary.

ArmA just isn't a game where your l33t twitch skills will keep you alive. As mentioned it's much more about movement and having someone watch your 6. and your 3. and your 9.

Exactly.. The best way to survive for along time is to stay with a squad of players who are not interested in getting the most kills, but using tactics to stay alive. Having players move into my line of fire on a constant basis has gotten real old.

IRT..
I dont think the AI are too accurate right now, it is quite the opposite, the players are not using tactics that give them the best opportunity to take easy shots.

Sry if you think Im attacking your tactics, Im not, there is just better ways to kill and stay alive
Sitting on a hill for hours picking of the patrols is just boring to me.

I have not been playing much ArmA lately because of the lack of teamwork, It seems to me that more and more players want to go about Evo in the easiest way possible.. Less players want to work for the town liberation , which IMO is the thrill of Evo(completing missions). Not my kill count.

Re: AI Precision on the servers.

Good points AoD. I also find though that some people just do not know how to move tactically and cover their teammates - you cannot practice what you do not know and if tactical movement is unfamiliar to people, it cannot be accomplished. It's also almost an impossibility to get people to watch one direction and only one direction too. I find these two skills to be highly important to teamwork because it is the team that relies on them.
