Well I was a hardcore Project reality player, especially on the TG server. I thought there couldn't be anything better, as the PR crowd had good communication, used tactics and the PR Devs worked hard to make PR more realistic with each release. I tried the Arma demo and was completely turned off by it.

A few months ago I started to get board of PR while I kept reading about how great Arma was and decided to buy it knowing the demo was apparently crap compared to the full version. If you can stick it out and get used to the movement and controls you will love it. I really struggled with the controls at first and found them too clunky. Be sure to adjust your "free float" zone for your mouse as this made a big improvement in subjective feel for me. Basically I knew that Arma had potential and could provide game play at a much higher level then anything else out there so I stuck with it.

Now that I have got the controls figured out and tweaked the graphics; Arma is all I play. I just can't go back to PR knowing all that it can't provide (limitations of the BF2 engine not the Devs). All it takes is 3 or 4 good guys on the TG server and you can have a great time.

One word of caution is that Arma is a demanding game to run. I have a mid/upper level system and struggle to get great fps in the cities and forests. The game does however look amazing if you can turn up some of the settings.

No, and here is why.

What happened was: I bought ArmA and before I even had time to install it, my motherboard broke (stupid cheapy power supply unit). So I was kindly allowed to install it on another PC that doesn't belong to me while I waited for a replacement motherboard. The previously mentioned other PC doesn't have TS installed. When the replacement motherboard arrived I installed ArmA on my PC and enjoyed it, but at that time (about 6 months ago) I didn't use TeamSpeak anyway because I couldn't really see the benefits of it. Now I do have TS on my PC but still haven't installed it on the other one as mine now works. Unfortunately, when I bought World In Conflict, SecuROM had an argument with my PC (dunno why) and partially killed it, so we had to wipe the HDD to make the PC work again. That was about a month ago and I haven't installed ArmA again on my PC because I was into WiC and PR more then. As I hadn't played ArmA for a while, I was used to the controls from games like BF2 and Call of Duty 2. I am hopefully getting a new computer soon so I haven't bothered installing ArmA when I will just have to reinstall it again in a few weeks time. So for the time being I have been playing ArmA on the other PC without TS.

Where you tell me that I have 'no online experience here at TG', you are correct if you mean no TG ArmA online experience. I was simply posting in this thread to tell Doctor Sorry if in some way I have offended you by simply offering my opinion on ArmA.

Also making a comment about Arma by saying, in one line, 'not to expect anything like PR' also says nothing about the game. I could say, 'don't expect anything like the Sims' but that wouldn't help. You offered your opinion by saying why you weren't playing it (for the most part and irrelevant to the OP) and then you give one small sentence that has nothing to do with Arma. So far, we've established that your opinion of Arma is that it's “nothing like Project Reality” followed up by the irrelevance of why you can/can't install. How that helps the OP is beyond me and why I found it a pretty funny and bemusing reply

I would be fine with that had asking to put an ending to the discussion was all that was stated but refuting what i say, and then asking to stop the discussion is an unfair move. Why bother to state the why's and then ask for silence. Why not simply leave it there. Now of course I have to refute because of an incorrect statement, that being;

Is incorrect. I never asked anything until after you had posted this irrelevant fact in your first post. I'm not one to normally let things get heated but I will not put up with fallacies or post geared to get the last say by retorting and then following up with an "let's be adults about this" to try to put an end to it.

I fail to see why we can't let this topic go off tangent when so many other threads do but i guess I could make a new post about it though it hardly seems worth it. Nobody is stepping out of line here and I'm quite happy to defend what I have said and believe I have the right to do so. I have no ill feelings here and will be quite happy to end this discourse once it reaches a satisfactory conclusion
