Re: Holy Carp and I thought PRM was confusing.

You can still install 1.09 Beta on the Steam version by following the same installation instructions that applies to any other version of ArmA afaik.

Does it make gameplay better? I mean theirs not all that many Arma players out there (alot but still not much as it could be) and so since 1.08 is latest 'official' patch thats what most are playing I would be assuming, can I be corrected? (Alot of players playing 1.09? Enough so that you can join a game whenever you feel like it still?)

Re: Holy Carp and I thought PRM was confusing.

It does improve gameplay and FPS. Also, 1.09 Beta installs a seperate .exe file to launch it with. You can still run 1.08 by launching it from the 1.08 shortcut and the beta from the 1.09 Beta shortcut. So you're not actually patching over 1.08.

Oh ****, Im downloading it then... Ty much..

Edit: Anything bad about this patch and why doesnt everybody else play using this patch then? It says it has the battleeye and all, and ive noticed quite a few hackers on 1.08 so this seems like a pretty non-official official patch in my mind..

It fixes VON, AI, and a few other things. It's a pretty popular patch, but the "beta" scares a lot of people away.

Re: Holy Carp and I thought PRM was confusing.

I really sucks when a company puts out a beta for this long. It completly splinters the community, and some games never recover.
FarCry for instance had a patch they released that only about half the players could get to run, and it fixed a lot of stuff, so people used it. Half the players were stuck with the old version. Months later when the final patch came out, most of the community had moved on cause they were tired of waiting to play with friends.
Half my clan at the time had the patch working, others didn't.

Re: Holy Carp and I thought PRM was confusing.

The problem is when the company shifts it's focus from supporting the current game, to the development of the next new game. I think that is part of the issue here with ArmA.

Uh, they haven't. They're still releasing patches for ArmA. The next beta is coming out soon, and then the final will be released shortly after that. I'm guessing they'll continue to provide this support.

Far less than a year. The patches are rolling out faster than EA can roll out the same game with a different number in the title.
