Tactical Training Request
Hey.
It's been a while since I've had a refresher on working in tactical battlefield situations like ArmA, Call of Duty and America's Army. I was wondering if there's anyone in TG that's willing to take me through the paces and get me completely back up to speed on how things are done? Of course, my "disability" not withstanding, I recently ordered a new sound card, headset (with 5.1 surround support and bass), new keyboard and a new mouse. The whole thing cost me $200 after shipping and handling - ironically, the cheapest part was the sound card. So, let me know if anyone here can point me in the right direction or something. Thanks. -NK

Re: Tactical Training Request
Hey Nkato feel free to join us tomorrow (Sat) around 17:30 BST - 10:30 EDT (16:30 ZULU). It will mainly be chopper practice but if you can't make that then PM me and we'll hook up as I'm working on a basic infantry course as well (and if anyone else is interested, let me know)

Re: Tactical Training Request
I'm up for any training I can get on anything so I'd be interested in the Infantry training. Tomorrow the early time (17:30 BST) may be just a bit too early for me but I'll be on later for sure. I'll try and make it just depends on Real Life I'm afraid.

Re: Tactical Training Request
I think any infantry training will probably be either during next week or next weekend. I suggest you familiarise yourselves with Dyslexci's excellent guide to arma (http://dslyecxi.com/armattp.html). It is very well written and everything within applies to Armed Assault. Obviously it's a large document and we cannot go over everything but I hope to include several elements from the guide into the mission I'm making.

Re: Tactical Training Request
I don't mind helicopter training if you're willing to put up with me in the seat. :P I -am- a major helicopter enthusiast, although since my X52 was found out to have a permanent glitch and couldn't be replaced for a newer model, I've been sticking mainly with the mouse...not doing too bad with it either.
![]() Besides, as a Blackhawk pilot, I think planning ahead is important. :3 I should be able to pop in, which server will it be? Tactical Gamer or...? -NK

Re: Tactical Training Request
OK guys I'm almost ready to get this going. However, there is an open slot available to make up the 4th member of the Fire Team. If anybody wants in, first to post here will get the slot. This will be basic training - going over a few things and structured into a loose mission of sorts concentrating on the Fire Team.
I'll PM the group once/if we get our 4th member so we can set up a time and a place. ![]() |

Re: Tactical Training Request
Well we managed to get the training started. Unfortunately we couldn't get a full Fire Team together all at the same time but the training session went well.
Jex has done a terrific job putting together a training programme in which he leads team members through a series of tasks and tests. It is absolutely ideal for anyone just starting out or indeed anyone who has been away from the game a while. It covers a range of activities including using maps for orientation/planning, patrol formations, observation tasks, weapon ranges and MOUT tasks. There's more to come as we're only halfway through but so far it has been excellent. In addition there have been many useful hints and tips which are not always passed on in game situations. Overall an excellent job by Jex whose time and effort in setting this up is much appreciated. If anyone else is interested in particpating please contact Jex or post up in here.

Re: Tactical Training Request
I would enthusiastically second what Sabre said.
Jex has set the training program up in such a way as to allow trainees to work together as a team while having him there to answer any questions which come up in the immediate time frame. It is a perfect fit for anyone just starting out or those who need that refresher from time to time. Sabre has already mentioned things like using maps for orientation/planning, patrol formations, observation tasks, weapon ranges and MOUT tasks so I won't go into detail here but I will add that Jex also points out the little things in game like in-game communicaitons set-up, weapon saftey actions, mission editor tips for basic scenario design. Meeting new people who also are newbs or veterans needing refresher training in a very relaxed and stress free environment was a big plus. There was no such thing as a dumb question. Excellent preparation for stepping up and playing with the "Big-Boys." You are missing out if you don't take advantage of this. Thanks Jex for the preparation and time you put into this. Looking forward to continuing the sessions. |

Re: Tactical Training Request
@ Enigma - Thanks
![]() @JohnO - Ideally, you'll need to find another 3 players who value teamwork and all the aspects of the game. Initially this was meant to be one session that spanned a few hours but that has changed. After the intitial course which is now being split into two parts, we may have to then require more specialised missions that concentrate on single aspects of the game (i.e. Fire & Movement or Orienteering say). We could quite easily go down a route of several weeks of training (at 1 day a week) because there are so many aspects to this game. I'm happy to take on an extra Fireteam but it really needs to be made up of people who can commit to one day a week (doesn't need to be a fixed day each week) and we can do the long or the short course. If that isn't an option we can just add it to the helo training that I'm looking forward to getting going again - Drop me a PM and we'll go from there ![]() If anyone else is interested in the Fireteam training then perhaps you could PM JohnO and get a group together and let me know a start date. |
