No, it isn't "made over VBS2". Also, what makes you think that VBS2 is any more "tactical and realistic" than ArmA? Have you played it, or are you just assuming that to be true?

1500 bucks compared to 40 has to be more tactical and realistic... right?

NOT! lol

From my understanding, ArmA was the baseline to which additional features were added to create VBS2. It's along the same lines of Steel Beasts Pro PE, a hardcore tank simulation.

No, i assumed it from:
Quote:
VBS2™ - Virtual Battlespace 2 - is a fully interactive, three-dimensional training system providing a premium synthetic environment suitable for a wide range of military (or similar) training and experimentation purposes.
And the videos i have seen.

I dont realy know if i made a error saying it was "made over VBS2", but i just made some reading about it and:
Quote:
VBS2 shares the same underlying game engine (Real Virtuality 2) as Bohemia Interactive's computer game ArmA: Armed Assault. Whilst the game engine is the same, numerous functionality enhancements are included with VBS2 to enable use of the product for training and experimentation.
EDIT:One reason for it to be more realistic is:
ArmA costs 40€
VBS1 costs 94€

Re: ArmedA 2 or OFP 2?? Which one?

I remember when VBS1 was around with OFP and people were grabbing hold of a copy. Talking with someone who had VBS1 and was making some missions, he said there's practically no difference between the two as a player of a mission. One costs a lot more than the other and his opinion was they're both the same game except I think VBS1 had a different mission builder designed for evaluation/performance or something. Being essentially the same game, he reckoned that one was not more realistic than the other.

ArmA is much like vbs2 ArmA is like a beta of Vbs2, Vbs2 has more vehicles and soldiers and real time editor plus you can drag bodys and stuff but other then that its pretty much the same game oh and most importantly vbs2 can use motion capture software like the tank simulator and aircraft simulator things plus better maps like Iraq for vbs2

Roughly correct. The same basic gameplay exists in both of them.

Re: ArmedA 2 or OFP 2?? Which one?

So the new OF2 movie is out, and what a crock. It is a rendered cartoon video.

I am really disappointed that with e3 next week, this is what they are giving us.

http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/901430...MV_070908.html

The little kiddies over at PR.com are all wowed by it and talking about how they are going to have to upgrade their rigs to play it.

Re: ArmedA 2 or OFP 2?? Which one?

Agreed on cartoon movie. Looks like the direction they are taking is some sort of BF2/GRAW/arcarde/console shooter type of game with vehicles and choppers.

Re: ArmedA 2 or OFP 2?? Which one?

well first of all those graghics will never look like that but thats beside the point they havent showed any real gameplay and by the looks of it they are indeed taking on an arcade style of gameplay the boys over at pr.com consider that to be really realistic which it is defiantly not so that just says something to you and alos that beginning part with the sf guys looks like crysis style gameplay the assult part looks like bf2

Re: ArmedA 2 or OFP 2?? Which one?

You guys must be mind readers because I couldn't deduce too much from that movie

It appeared that there was a lot of pre-rendered scenes with the odd in game shot put in. Hard to say what the game plays like and if there are lots of options for server operators it could be a worthwhile game?

However if ArmA continues on the path it is going then ArmA2 should be a solid addition thats already a defined entity.

Exactly - it's pretty much the same as the first movie they made - prerendered cutscenes that say nothing. However, if there are missions to sneak into enemy radio stations deep behind enemy lines I'm up for some of that.

If only we could get a game with graphics like that huh?

While the sequences were rendered with the game engine, I didn't see any material that could be considered in game. (no player interface and no game features).

And really, this vid really didn't offer any more insight into what OFP2 may be than the video they released last year. Not impressed
