Re: Right..which TG'ers have ArmA ???....

Hey Apophis... maybe a TS channel for Armed Assault please.

I usually throw one up when I'm able to game, co-op..usually titled either Magnum's, TG Unofficial, or SimHQ... depending on who I'm playing with at the moment. lol

But if your a TG member, I'd suggest, getting on TS (ya I know theres VOIP, but TS shows who on and interested in playing), then join the TS channel, ask for the game name and password. Just a suggestion.

You can run ArmA exe with -server to act as a deddy but no we haven't released the actual deddy server exe, it's close though, we just started beta testing a new version and if all is well it'll be released for open beta testing.

Re: Right..which TG'ers have ArmA ???....

Just out of curiosity...

what are the recommended specs for a server for Armed Assault???

On a side note..Placebo, is there any chance of an english manual for the non-German speaking people like mysely that bought the German version?? I know it's a strange request, but I bought the downloadable version from Morphicon..

thanks for all the hard work!!

I am totally impressed that Placebo registered and posted here, considering the amount of forums that he has to keep an eye on.

Thank you so much for stopping by here Sir. We appreciate you taking the time to help us out with this new game.

This is already more support than I've seen from some other game developers. BIS certainly cares about its community and does all it can to satisfy them.

If you were on the fence about this game, this show of support should give you the push you need...

Excellent news. Any idea how well this will run remotely? We use all dedicated servers at various datacenters in the US. None of them have graphics cards that will run any sort of game. If I add the -server tag will it run a console-based server or are there still some sort of graphical/audio hardware requirements?

And welcome to Tactical Gamer! It's great to see another industry rep in the neighborhood. I've added you to the Industry/Developer usergroup and given you a nice shiny tag!

No it's not possible I'm afraid, for a number of reasons including 505 rightly getting rather upset with us if we did that (obviously if you're a USA'er yourself that doesn't apply but the general point does)

You have no idea, added this place to my list today and totalarmedassault dot com (apparently I'm too much of a n00b to post links? ) yesterday

Well I kept getting spammed with google alerts for here (I set up Google alerts for "ArmA" and "Armed Assault" so figured it was time I created an account so I could reply where needed

As I understand it all the deddy server will need is CPU and Ram, no sound, no graphics, no installation is needed nor DVD, game files and deddy exe once copied over are all that's required, but as for ArmA.exe with -server I'm not sure how it works, I think it certainly will need a valid installation but there's a chance it'll need a graphics card, I broke my ArmA installation this morning so I'll get someone else to try for me

So I fixed my ArmA installation and ran it with -server, it appears to run and look the same as how the dedicated server will be so whilst it probably will need to be installed on a server rather than simply copied over it may well run fine without a soundcard of graphics card, but the beta deddy server should be out soon hopefully

Excellent news. Maybe i'll hold off a bit on the TG server. I want to get this thing up and running for TG so we can get ahead of the curve on the US release. I think the better presence we have for ArmA, the better we'll do in the long run. I'm on that borderline right now of just buying a non-US version to get a server up and then migrating to the US release once it's available.

Is there any estimate on the dedicated server release? Or is "soon" the closest thing to a date available? (I'm quite familliar with software development, so I'll not be offended if "soon" is the only answer available).

Thanks for the info!

Well hopefully no more than a few days, but it depends if the beta testers find any problem with it

Re: Right..which TG'ers have ArmA ???....

Apophis, I know this is a bit OT, but do you anticipate having the hardware available and ready once the dedicated server is released? I'm waiting on purchasing until TG has a server available. Thanks.
