Hi all,

spent some more time with ArmA last night...really like it..but I have much to learn as I never really got into OFP. I was more of a race sim and flight sim guy back then.

I'm wondering who among us has ArmA and would like to get together online and start figuring this sim out...

Got it and love it.
Especially the VOIP.
Nothing like loading up 3 people in an abrams and rolling out.

Speaking of VOIP, is it similar in structure to BF2 (i.e. squad based)?

There are several different channels you can switch through.
Global (whole server),team,squad, vehicle and a local channel with which you talk to people located near to you.

I wish I knew how to operate VOIP in the game....the darn manual is in German!!! LOL

When you use the in-game VOIP, is there an onscreen indicator to show who is talking?

Press Caps-lock to toggle VOIP on and off.
, and . switch through the channels IIRC.
It should all be viewable in you control configuration though.

No you only get an indicator for when you have VOIP toggled on.
They really need to add this so you know who you're talking too and can find those annoying microphone breathers.
Had people broadcasting their music, screaming kids and whatnot the other day on a server and could not find out who it was (there is also no mute function).

I also have Arma, I just float around till I find a server where there is no German being spoken. A good server that I have found is called "Beer Drinkin Assasins" I mostly play on that server. And Yes the no Voip indicator stinks. Maybe we can all set an evening date to all get together and play

There are several servers located in the US.
[USA] Hitsquad [USA] and Fraghaus to name a few.

Can someone provide a report regarding a dedicated server for this? Is it built in? If so, I could potentially order the German version and get a server up sooner than later for the TG folks.

Nope Apophis, don't look like any dedicated server program in the options and/or AA folder... I'll check with friends on maybe a downloadable one somewhere.
