Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
So are we still not expecting a U.S. release until late 1st Qtr 2007? Seems like a long delay, but I guess US software companies do that to the world regularly. Any chance this will end up on a US based download system (steam etc.)?

It may be more expensive to get the German version, but I think that added cost is well worth not having the headaches going on here.

Agreed.
Only went via Sprocket because I only had my UK Switch Card (and it just so happens thats one of the cards they accepted) with me at the time. Cest la vie. |

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Sprocket is a 5 day old system, it's to be expected there will be a couple of teething issues but they will do all they can to resolve them as quickly as possible. Buying from Sprocket is tantamount to buying directly from the developers.

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Update: After a phone call yesterday to Softwrap, I finally received my CD key and activation code this morning. The fellow I spoke with was extremely helpful.
However I still don't have the actual software or any word on how I'm supposed to get it. Seems like that part is Sprocket's foul-up and not Softwrap's. My advice is not to use Sprocket at this time. I no longer think I'm totally screwed, but that's because I took the time & initiative to call them and sort this out. If I hadn't I probably still wouldn't have heard from anyone regarding this purchase. If you do decide to go with Sprocket, make sure you register with the site and create an account BEFORE you order. Also I recommend that you don't use PayPal. I can't say for sure that any of these things will make the process smoother for you - but those are two things that might have thrown a monkey wrench into the works for me. Sprocket will probably get their system fixed and become a fine way to get the software, eventually.

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Questions that should be in an FAQ, but I didn't see them on Sprocket website. If you have answers let me know.
What happens if sprocket doesn't work out and closes its doors.. a. Will you still be able to play the game (it appears the game does a check at launch time)? Even if the system specs are changed and the game must re-activated? b. Will you still be able to install the game? c. Assuming both above as yes, can you create a backup CD burn of the downloaded game today?

I paid for the game via Sprocket for the 2nd time this morning. On Completion of payment, there was a "Download" button to click on (I was in work when I first ordered the game a couple of posts ago, and missed that "Download" button thinking I would be emailed the download link - so I could click on it at after work, at home). I did not see this "Download" link on my first purchase. Neither did I receive an email informing me my purchase was successful. However, today, after payment, I clicked the "Download" button. Was then taken to the "Installer Link", and on to the main download. I have broadband - but the download (@ 57Kbs) told me it would take 13 hours 30 minutes. As I type, I am at 97% downloaded with 20 minutes to go. Gripe No1 is: I used Sprockets "Contact Us" page to submit a query stating that I had purchased the game but could not download it (just like Polish). I did this twice. And still have had no reply even though it is now over 48 hours since I requested advice from them. Gripe No2 is: What happens if I have to contact Sprockets Customer Support again - do I get no answer, just like the first time? I will be back shortly to post an answer to Shiners question "Can we burn a copy of our purchased, game that has taken 13 hours to download?" I wouldnt like to ask Sprockets Customer Support that question, because it seems the Lights are on, but nobody is at home. I have paid twice for the same game! (Payment proof is available if required)! |

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Dialog box states transfer complete from the Cz Mirror
Setup.exe 100% With the only option to press "Stop". Before doing anything I double clicked the (blank) setup icon on my desktop. Which dutifully launched the ArmA setup. Its prompting me for an installation key to fill the five blank boxes. Only problem is, I dont have an installation key. And after a 13 hour download, I dont have an email from softwrap or Sprocket providing one either. I'm going for a beer ....... |

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Morning Shiner,
Yes I used a CC (thankfully). The issuing of the CD Key lies within the domain of Softwrap. Whose automated email service should have sent one on successfully completing the purchase. I phoned them 5 minutes ago (gone 9am here in the UK). However, no one in support at the moment. But the lady I spoke to took my phone number and will pass it on when someone from support turns up. By the way, I burned yesterdays download to DVD (2.59Gb) OK. Once I get the CD Key I will attempt to install the game from the DVD. If it works, your question about whether the game can be archived or not will be answered. Will let you know ....... |

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
Update:
No phone call from Softwrap support as yet. However, I received an email from IDEA-Games (Sprocket): They have sent me my CD Key on behalf of Softwrap. The email states that the purchase ref, and email given during purchase are enough to identify you to Sprocket/Softwrap. Sprocket Customer Service also noticed that I had paid twice, and have offered me a refund on the first missing purchase. As I was typing, James from customer support at softwrap phoned. Explained that they have been having a nightmare with their email server. They are receiving everyones emails addressed to support@softwrap, but their server sends an undelivered email response back to the sender. They are working on it. I have suggested to Softwrap, that they join the Tactical Gamer Website in the same capacity as Placebo, and will be there to answer queries from customers as and when they can. James in support thought it was a brilliant idea and is passing it up his chain of command ! I'm off to try the install (from the burned DVD). Back shortly with an update ... |

Re: Czech Armed Assault's now available on Sprocket
ArmA installed from the DVD I burned earlier this morning. No problems.
During the installation, and the subsequent dialog boxes, I left them at default, and clicked Next. O/C of the installation I went to the armedassault.org website and downloaded the Cz to English Patch. Followed the instructions. No errors, so assumed OK to continue. Double clicked the ArmA desktop icon – XP threw up “This application has failed to start because D3DX9_30.DLL was not found” This is a Direct X problem, usually caused by and out of date install. Anyway, a visit to the Following Link allowed me to install the latest Direct X (updated December 06) O/C Direct X update. Double clicked the ArmA icon. Up came the EULA followed by the Activate Licence page (Your name and purchase Ref). This means if you do a re-install You should be able to just reactivate the software using your purchase details. I would have put the links in, but because I have not done 15 posts or more, I am unable, sorry. O/C – Up comes ArmA (in English). So I’m off to do some exploring …….. |
