Man, that is really strange. Obviously, you've been "Googling" this error, because I came up with the same info you posted earlier.

It seems that your SoftWrap install got corrupted somehow. I noticed alot of folks on the BIS forums are complaining about multiple CTDs with the Sprocket download version (with SoftWrap). No solutions yet apparently.

I think I'd do a complete un-install and registry wipe. Use all the tools available. Uninstall Armed Assault, then use HiJackThis! to look for any Softwrap "cling-ons." Perhaps a registry cleaner will help to remove any legacy softwrap issues.

I know this sounds extreme, but Softwrap has "wormed" its way into your computer and needs to be slapped around a bit. Good luck to you! Please let us know how it goes!

I heartily would like to give that blasted little softwrap proggie a good slapping... but I'm too busy playing at the moment! (thanks for the advoce btw Houdini )

I have found an interesting and temporary fix...

I dont recommend or condone it but....

Remember I had probs with the download originally?

Well as I thought I wouldnt be able to get hold of it, due to all the errors, I found a torrent for Arma (Now, before you shout at me, remember I *had* purchased it).

Anyway, i managed to get the sprocket thing to download, although it knocked out me router lots of times.

So I forgot about the torrented file untill i had the wheeled.pbo error.

I replaced the file as I said above and was working happily untill this latest error.

Tried reinstalling / restoring / getting rid of softwrap by altering permissions etc etc....

Then I remembered. I have a Legal Key, and I have another Czech version of the game.

It took some fiddling and again Im not going to say exactly *how* I did it as I don't want to help anyone get hold of an unpurchased version.

Anyway result is: 1 working Arma czech version (not sprocket download version) Using Legal Key.

No more CTD's every 10mins (this version appears, to me, to be far more stable). And one happy camper (me .

Possible bugs are that, more than once, I was kicked off from joining a game, but all the UK servers I tried I had no problem.

I still want my sprocket version to be fixed, for me this is a temporary work around until I get help from sprocket.

But Interesting info nonetheless.

Again, please, dont ask me how I did this (unless you are BI) as I'm not going to pass on the details. I might get into trouble myself. But Ive waited long enough to play this game, so In My World, I feel Justified. Remember I have PAID. (sorry to rant just covering my back!)

Ill let you know how I get on with fixing the broken sprocket version as more info comes... perhaps it will help someone.

I went back to playing VBS1 for a bit, but I missed all the new stuff too much!

Based on how warped you made your characters voice in the demo, I'm going to assume you picked "Amy" as your characters voice for the full version and slid the pitch scale all the way to the right.

(for those of you with the demo only there are quite a few voices to choose from in the full version. Maybe ten or so).

Every now and then I'll be sitting around at work and I get that slurred, gutteral "I'VE GOT HIM!!!" stuck in my head. Damn you, BHack.

I too installed the full version tonight (Tuesday) and it is indeed shiny. Looking forward to playing on a populated server in the next few days...

Well it's a simulation game and I was simulating Ahhnold. I was really excited to use the "Get in the choppah!" or "Get down!" radio commands in the game for this reason. Though, the delivery of the line isn't quite right. It seems I'll need an Ahhnold mod.

Hello, thats the problem with protection.

No matter what you do, some 14 year old from Arkansas has already cracked it.

I can Understand wanting to protect Interllectual property, but lets be realistic.

I Have software that comes with a hardware dongle (ie VBS1, quark and 3DSMax for eg) but these have already been cracked. And I use the cracked exes, to free up serial and usb ports. (Once you have more than one Serial dongle it puts a strain on the flimsy metal surrond of the port as they big buggers, although the versions I have are old so maybee they have moved to usb, VBS1 is usb)

The easiest way, I see, is to register with a cd key to an online server. I am sure people will find a way to generate keys, but at least then the guys who run the server can check and blacklist any erronious keys.

Sod, protection that looks at your hardware, as many folks change thiers quite often, or buy a new machine.

Simply get folks to reg their ID with their address and if they change homes etc then they inform the server.

We will never beat the hackers, there are too many and they like the challenge.

Remember KISS... Keep It Simple, Silly.

Ive defeated starforce which is a nightmare, so why continue using it?

Marx (the vbs1 protection) has been broken..

But at least with VBS1 any add-ons are personally keyed to your copy which makes it almost impossible to hack (at this stage). So even if folk get hold of vbs1 they cant use any of the addons which make the sim complete.

Sorry but all the hassles with protection (remember the ELITE screen Key (going back to the early 80's). What a nightmare...

Let people phone or internet reg. so much easier , and that way no 3rd party security software that messes up your cd drive etc....

Since I do a deceent amount of game swapping, dvd burning etc.. my bf2 discs would long ago have been scratched beyond use if I wasn't able to use a mounted image instead. I wish more companies would go to the online authentication and forget the CD is required crap. I especially hate those companies that insist I uninstall my mounting software even if I have their original DVD in the drive. grrrr.

Hello all,

Well I got another reply (yesterday).

But all they said, is to deinstall arma and then those files within the shared documents folder.

As you know, I discovered that they are protected files and I am unable to delete or even open these follders/files.

Luckily I know how to change the permissions on these files, by booting up into safe mode and taking ownership of them. (Something the average user will not know).

Unfortunatly I did all of this before....to no avail...

As I managed to get my "other" version working (with legal key) (and its a damn sight more stable) I think I'll just forget my sprocket version, until a patch come out that disables my version or another problem arises.

Still Im glad I have my version up and running, as I love the game.

Ok so is this possible?

I want to setup a second copy of ArmA on a second computer for testing.
1. Can you install the softwrap version to a second computer?
2. Can you run two instances of multiplayer with the same CD-key? Even if just in LAN mode (since I don't need others to join)?

Update. Can't install on a second computer... says activation already completd. I hate things that make you email and wait on support every time you want to re-install windows and/or use a copy on your second computer.

It was a hassle getting the Cz download, installing, then patching. And apart from the MP CTD's suffered last week - I have at least got "a feel" for the game.

Roll on next month though, when I can get hold of the UK release. I will be re-loading a Drive Image 7 backup prior to the Cz installation on to my PC. Then starting from scratch, but with a UK version installed.

Well, I emailed and received clarification. The softwrap software can ONLY be installed on a single computer as they associate the single computer config with a single key. You can only transfer/upgrade your computer a single time before having to repurchase (you can re-install on an unchanged machine by requesting re-activation via email). It appears I'm destined to use a downloaded version or be forced to repurchase as I swap out computers fairly reguarly. DRM needs to....

Been working , so Ive missed the last couple of days...

According to the eula I got with my sprocketty version, I believe the licence entitles you to reinstall on ONE other computer, at which time you have to connect and rereg the software. but, again as you only have one key, even if you managed to get another copy on another machine they will not be able to connect to eachother.

If you get hold of a standard version, you should be able to install on as many machines as you like, but again this would violate the eula and you would not be able to play with more than one version at a time.

Although I assume you could play multiple SP games.

But again, that would violate terms and agreements.

Oh, and guess what....

Today I recieved another email sending my CD key....

Unfortunately, it's the same one as before.

So I AM getting replys to my emails, but aboutt OLD problems.... oh well, the Saga Continues......
