Wimpinator. I use the Cougar Throttle/Stick HOTAS. And my CH (USB) Pedals in game. Joy2Key is used to program keypresses to the Cougar Throttle/Joystick.

CH Pedals are programmed via CH Manager, in DX Mode as:

DX Device: Mouse
DX Axis: X Axis
Centered Box: Ticked

Until BIS announce Multi-Controller support, this works perfectly. The Rudder Pedals act as Rudder Pedals.

Re: Want to help make ArmA a better game? Read this.

My pedals use the game port and do not connect via USB so the CH Manager software will not work. From the web page :
http://www.chproducts.com/retail/tec...l_manager.html
" Note:

The Control Manager will not program the CH Gamestick 3D USB or the Gamepad USB. It will not work with any GAME PORT devices or any other manufacturer's joysticks. "

Keep in mind that I haven't actually tried it because of the afformentioned note on the page.

If anyone has further suggestions, feel free to post them.

I just recently (this morning) had a suggestion implemented that is going to have a MASSIVE impact on the playability of infantry. When you guys see it, you're going to be in love. It's amazing. Absolutely amazing. I can't stop gushing about it. It's going to... well, you'll see.

Again, if you have ideas... throw them out here.

tell them to remove the artificial momentum and speed up some of the animations. If you hit prone from sprint.. the dive animation is like 3 or 4 seconds!

When I'm free looking I should be able to snap my head around much faster than I can now.

Jumping?
Kidding, I'm hoping for iron sights freeaim or at least mantling.

BHack, that momentum is an animation problem, it only occurs when you run from crouch and dive (I've already posted on Dslyecxi's site a list of the all the movement hickups I could find)

Re: Want to help make ArmA a better game? Read this.

I'm at work now, so I can't check, and perhaps I just missed some setting and in that case perhaps someone can slap me (hard!) over the head with the answer hehe

Anyways... I tried to fly the harrier (mission editor, place a plane, try it out) with my HOTAS but the throttle was all screwed up...it would only go all out and suddenly drop to idle and then up to full again... so I checked the settings and bound "throttle up" to a key instead (can't remember seeing anything about throttle axis) and found out that the throttle is digital...as in on/off !!!!
As i said, I could've done some mistake in the settings and I hope I have because if not it's like some kind of sick joke!

Ok, so I was REALLY disapointed now and went to try out the campaign... before I could even start to play they dropped the F-word on you (nice) and showcased the AIs total inability to operate vehicles and this becomes nothing short tragicomic...in a later mission I had to kill a friendly AI to be able to continue the mission because he was standing still and disobeying orders to mount... add to this the lack of suppressive fire (so what are the machineguns for?) and that the AI in general is dumb as dogpoo!

And some nice mission scripting too...sniper-mission to take out opfor officer located inside a house in a canyon...I could see and shoot him from far away and make for a safer extract if only I didn't have to get in close to trigger his arrival! What's that about? I'm not going to play the campaign anymore (and I've played the OPF+addon campaigns several times, they were good).

I played some pub games online, so without any teamwork at all it's hard to say anything about it (especially since it was TvT and not CoOp)...so I'll have to give my final verdict when we get patched to the same version and I'll be able to play with you guys.

Right now though, I'm NOT playing it...

Wow... I thought it was too late to make suggestions, so I never gave it a shot.

Ok, ya know what I would Really Really REALLY like to see for Armed Assault?

I noticed with the built in VOIP in the demo, talking over the Direct Communication channel doesn't do anything. In text chat, this channel goes out to anyone nearby. It would be SO FREAKIN COOL if when transmitting in Direct for my voice to come from my ingame character!

Think the immersion! You could just yell for somebody and they locate you buy where they heard the voice! There are a ton of situations where I would find this to be useful. I know of no current game that supports voice comming from the ingame character and I think it would be a breakthough in tactical gaming.

On my Armed Assault wishlist, this would have to be right at the top.

Runners up include:
Name of person(s) talking on VOIP
Support for more than one joystick device
Increase the head turnspeed (at least with TrackIR enabled)
Radio Chirp when somebody starts/stops talking
Working flashlight on weapons that have them
Leaning in vehicles
Firing from vehicles

That's all I can think of right now. Great work getting them to change the gunsight view. Really hope you can get them to add this feature.

Re: Want to help make ArmA a better game? Read this.

Regarding the in-game VOIP, I would love to see multiple channels. Right now, we have global, group, side, vehicle, direct. I think we need to add in some general channels (channel 1, channel 2, etc) so we can organize accordingly. The SL's and commander could all be in Channel 1, so there is more coordination. How, using in-game VOIP, is there supposed to be coordination/communication between multiple squads and a commander, as things are now?

Are we going to just use Teamspeak, and have set SOP's for whispers, etc?

Hi there, first of all - great game! i am perhaps on of the few who has no real stability problems. I am a little confused tho as to which video settings have the most impact on frame rates - there doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason. What kind of improvements are we expecting with 1.05?

Also when playing the campaign you feel kind of alone, there isnt any meaningful radio contact with your base - i know you can request ammo rewsupply but all you get by way of feedback is 'negative'. At one point i ran out of tows and couldnt complete the mission - even when i drove back to base i couldnt get resuply! An option to ask for help would be great - as well as contact with other units on the battlefield - support choppers, tanks etc such as on the counterattack misssion - they may as well be on another team - you certainly cant interact with them in a combined ops style. A game such as X3 allowed limited radio contact with everyone on the map, really helped with the realism factor.

also a reqest for more info from base - enemy units, current objective etc?

a 'cover me' command for your squad mates?

as mentioned before in other posts, the ai dont take notice of visual cover? ie hiding behind trees.

the ability to choose what equipment you take out with you on campaign missions - when playing counterattack last night, i not only needed AT rounds, but even a smoke grenade or radio or binoculars would have helped, surely these are things every soldier would take as standard?

Reinforcements that you can control?

thats all ive got for now, thanks again though for this excellent game, and for the ongoing support. Its this level of support that keeps us coming back.

Kiwi.
