Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

I'm a big fan of ditching the scoreboard and the kill/death messages, we did this for the TG BF2 TacMod and it DID produce positive results in players behaviors based on our testing.

Wargames League for OFP had this as a standard awhile back. It had and continues to have a huge impact on gameplay when you play like that.

Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

I'm giving myself a crash course in dialogs this weekend so maybe I can give you all an update by Monday on how feasible this is. I will first look at doing this via a script that we can include and execute from missions of our choosing as opposed to deleting the resource right now.

Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

Just as an update...I am no longer working on this directly b/c there are some great efforts currently being worked on by the ArmA modding community on this very topic. Once some things firm up we may look at utilizing them to remove the scoreboard and the like.

Better yet:

PROPER UI MPTable Redesign

PLEASE NOTE: We do not know the effects of any of the PROPER mods in MP yet (also cautioned by the PROPER dev team). But, this particular mini-mod has great potential I think.

Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

I wish BIS would start using leadership points instead of just points:

Gaining points:

1 Taking out enemies and enemy assets by you or anyone under your command
2 Accomplishing (side) missions

Loosing points:
1 Loosing any soldier or asset under your command
2 Dying
3 Failing a (side) mission

Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

Personally I'd like to see points completely removed because I've yet to work out what they acheive or what point they have. All I have ever seen with points isthat those that relish them start playing the engine, rather than the game - i.e. they look to exploit the game engine in order to maximise their points. Not only that but they have many other negative aspects for them. A total removal of all point systems leaves you with just worrying about the game and your participation in it.

Re: @Loyal - score board discussion

I did think that using the score board as I do was ok IE I check when I make a snap shot to see If I struck gold but then as in real time it adds to the immersion effect if you don't know for sure.
That being the case I add my voice to the get rid side.
