Re: Mounted C&C and other questions.
did you have any luck getting it to run in MP?
that mod could have been the best mod out for arma ever imo. if it had been fully implemented before the author dissapeared

Re: Mounted C&C and other questions.
for what it's worth...
i believe MP viewdistance is 1200m, unless a)the player uses a clientside mod that overrides this, b)the mission uses the setviewdistance setting, or c)rain/fog is occurring.
max object draw distance is about 3000m... and is always roughly equal to 0.6 x the current view distance. (picture ... view distance at 5km)
heh ... picture: 15km VD... all of Sahrani is visible ... at 11FPS. hey, we're all allowed to dream, right?

Re: Mounted C&C and other questions.
Thanks for the steer.
In Beasts of Steel, it's much greater, around 2.5-3km. I don't know if Steven Seagal deliberately modified it however. Or if it's simply using my own VD settings (roughly 3km), which would explain the 1700m limit.
Is there any way to change the 60% of current view distance? It's pretty annoying, especially as a tank gunner, because you're just looking at terrain one second and the next a T-90's popped up, big as **** in your sights.max object draw distance is about 3000m... and is always roughly equal to 0.6 x the current view distance.
Some less detailed ACE Islands allow for 25km VD with no appreciable FPS loss for me on my Sony Vaio AR750EB. That being said, the two I'm thinking of are 73Easting and Uwar Desert, which are pool-table flat, largely featureless desert.all of Sahrani is visible ... at 11FPS. hey, we're all allowed to dream, right?

Re: Mounted C&C and other questions.
i think theres a dynamic view distance setting in the init for basf MP templates
you just remove the // and change the view distances that are forced on all clients depending on their vehicle type:
eg
armour : 2500m
infantry 1200m
helos 5000m
