LandTex 1.0 was released and greatly improves the look of Arma 2 without any performance hit at all. I haven't noticed any performance drop at all using these higher quality textures and they really change how the game looks drastically. The fact this mod uses textures of the same resolution also guarantees there shouldn't be any performance drop.
I actually noticed a 5-7 fps improvement when using this mod.

I would be interested to know how much better it actually looks. From the photos I actually thought the original looks better, but that may just be the photos?
In my opinion it just looks different than the original, not necessarily a lot better. Something to try and see if you like it more than the original or not.
Blurring the textures may make them look better without grass, but I'm willing to bet up-close it looks like someone puked and then tried to wipe it off.
The original textures do look pretty bad, and I was expecting this to be pretty good, but... yeah. It looks like someone took a Photoshop filter to the original. If I squint it kind of looks like more realistic grass, but not really.
Was it just me or did the grass look better in ArmA?
Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...
