Re: To train or not to train
Nice, Koala air is my prefered airline.
Just a quick update to the list based on responces. - Bhack Bucc. Jex ? Big C Evil koala Adv We'd only need 2 more and the English version is not even out yet so I'd say we could easily meet the 8 memeber requierment. There is really only one step to take after we are sure we have 8 and thats to sign up on the ARMA Leauge website here. http://www.armed-assault-zone.com/ar...?action=teamdb Now, this is where I step aside on the issue. My purpose was to determin interest, get ideas, and hash out exactly what we had in terms of numbers and I think we've done that. At this point the decision to move forward on it or not is not up to me but the higher ups in TG and those involved with Arma. If those people feel its worthwhile to move forward. If not there certinly will be no hard feelings on my part. Again I just wanted to see where we stood on this idea. Thanks for the responces. Adv |

Re: To train or not to train
Adv, you've got a great start with this, so by all means, please keep going. Having a TG squad involved in an early tournament like this would be good experience, good exposure, and, above all, good fun.

Re: To train or not to train
I'm still on the fence with this...I would really like to say "yes, count me in I will be there"...but....and there is always a but..(quiet BigC!!! hehe) I can imagine a scenario where we are really deep in the s#$t in a match and my loving wife comes down into the basement and "requires" my assistance...for what...it doesn't matter...LOL
I would hate for that to happen...I guess right now it's a no for me...I'll keep following the thread and see how things are going...maybe I'll be able to help out in a pinch. Chappie

I'm afraid you'll have to take me off as well. I'm in the UK so the time diff is bad and also committing time at present isn't an option (plus I need the game and a new pc to run it - that'll be april) Bah lol |

Maybe in the future we could have a European team. PanzerHans may be interested in this too? Isn't Armed Assault Zone (and JammyDodger who is taking charge of running the league) UK based anyway? |

Furthermore, I am not interested in small teams (8 vs 8); rather Company and Platoon size engagements. I believe with regular coop and TvT play with the TG community, by late summer we will be in good shape to be competitive. However, unlike BF2 scrims, practice would be necessary to insure the battle plan is sound and to make sure everyone knows how and what to do. The reason, in Arm Assault, there is so much you can do besides typical flag assaults and defense. Like BF2, I would like to compete in big time (32 vs 32) scrims twice/season. So around 6 a year. This may be done depending how well the game takes off in North America. Like BF2142 and PoE2, I hope Armed Assaut @ TG will be a sought after server once the U.S. release gets going. I hope they fix the CTI gameplay and VOIP... ___

Re: To train or not to train
Understood Rick, it seems to be somewhat of a non issue at this point as this seems to be the new list (below the paragraph), as you can see this is very close to where we started from and well short of the 8 man minimum. This idea seemed to be met with more resistance then enthusiasim which is fine it was the reason I created this thread to hear from everyone and get your opinions. All valid objections and I appreciate the feedback.

Re: To train or not to train
No big deal. We just simply are not ready to commit to a competition at this time. That will come with time as we get more members once the US release has taken place. A more realistic time frame may be the summer time.
Competition training or not, the games on TG will remain the same with high quality enjoyment that is experienced every day.

Re: To train or not to train
I've found a really cool map called Boot Camp, should be what you're looking for. Short, Medium and Long Shooting Ranges, and multiple vehicles to try out. The targets can be reset at any time, and there are some other cool features I didn't get a chance to try. I basicaly used it to try out some AT weapons, but if you get enough people you can drill pretty much anything. Can't find the link for it so I'm hosting it here.

This mission is now available on Server #1. Appropriately enough, it's called Boot-Camp in the missions list. Just vote yourself admin and load it up to check it out. |
