How to Snipe in Arma using the M24 Sniper rifle.

Agnew found this post at SimHQ and turned me on to it.

It is so well laid out. It teaches Exactly how to guage distance ot target and how to kill that target. even up to 1600 Meters.

If you want to know more about other sniper rifles, read down the thread. some guy has done the calibration, based on the intial guys post technique, with other rifles.

Worth bookmarking for those interested in learning to snipe efffectively, at range, in ArmA.

Yes... it is blurry. Here's the original page with the unzoomed version: http://www.mildot.com/testdrive.htm (blurry and small )

Actually, I did not notice the first time when I looked at your image that it was actually a flash animation that allowed me to move the strips to recalculate actual different shots.

Blurry? Yep. cool? Yep..

Re: How to Snipe in Arma using the M24 Sniper rifle.

I now understand how to calculate the distance-to-target (left slider), but I don't understand how to calculate bullet drop... anyone get that?

Re: How to Snipe in Arma using the M24 Sniper rifle.

I believe you need to know the weight of your ammunition and things like that. but if you use the left slider to calculate range, you can then use the charts on the forum discussion in first post to find how high to aim up(or low).

Heres the chart
Quote:
Range --M24 pips -----------M107 pips --MK12 pips
200 -----¾ low --------------2.5 low -----1 low
300 -----0 -------------------2 low ------½ low
400 -----¾ high -------------1 low
500 -----1 ¾ high -----------1 high
600 -----2 ¾ high ----------1.5 high
700 -----4 high -------------2.5 high
800 -----5.2 high -----------3.5 high
900 -----6 high -------------5 high
1000 ----7.2 high -----------6.5 high
1100 ----9 high -------------9 high
1200 ----9.7 high -----------10.2 high
1300 ----12.5 high ----------12.2 high
1400 ----14.5 high ----------14.8 high
1500 ----15.5 high ----------16.5 high
1600 ----18.8 high ----------19 high

Re: How to Snipe in Arma using the M24 Sniper rifle.

You guys might want to check out the SightAdjustment windage & elevation mod over at Armaholic. Can't link directly to the page, since it says I need 15 posts or more to insert url links, but the mod is easy to find using Search.

Got the tip from DereksDontRun, so thats one of my wishes granted. Now if only some decent ghillie suits could show up on the mod scene.

All that math is why I refused to go to sniper school when offered a slot.

Re: How to Snipe in Arma using the M24 Sniper rifle.

Coz,
Maybe you know how I go about "opening" the file to get into the place to edit the keys and to change it to mils instead of MOA. I've been trying for 3 hours to figure this out and I'm getting rather frustrated. I've tried 5 of these programs that are suppossed to let me do it... Anyway, PM me or something if you know.
