FAQ: Which mods/addons do I need to play in the server? (25.01.2009)
Welcome to TG ArmA - If you have just purchased the game, you will need to patch it to the latest version that we play, which is currently "beta" version 1.16
In order to do this, go here: link Here you need to take your version from 1.08 to 1.14. once you have installed 1.14 you can install "beta" version 1.16. Once your main ArmA game has been patched you can then fine tune it to include the mods that we use here at TG. Follow the guide below and we will see you on the server soon!
To fully enjoy the amazing experience of playing in TG Servers, you must download the following mods/addons:
- A.C.E. mod version 1.08 FULL - link
- A.C.E mod version 1.08 UPDATE Link
- A.C.E mod version 1.09 Patch Link
- A.C.E Island Pack version 1.3 - link Full version 1.13
- A.C.E Island Pack version 1.3 - link Patch from 1.12 to 1.13
- Schmalfelden - No undergrowth link For use on Server 1
- Avgani Iraq version 1.5 & Afghan Village version 1.0 - link For use on Server 2
Installing and running the mods/addons:
- Make sure you have ArmA beta patch 1.16 installed.
- A.C.E. mod and A.C.E. Islands, have a cool installer so you only have to follow the instructions.
- Installing Avgani Iraq & Afghan Village:
Step nș 1 - Unrar the opx.rar.
Step nș 2 - In the main ArmA directory create a folder named "@Afghan_Avgani", the path should look like this C:\Games\ArmA\@Afghan_Avgani.
Step nș 3 - Inside the recent @Afghan_Avgani folder, create a new one named "AddOns", the path should look like this C:\Games\ArmA\@Afghan_Avgani\AddOns
Step nș 4 - Go to the folder where you did the 1st step unrar and copy all the files with the extensions *.pbo and *.bisign into your C:\Games\ArmA\@Afghan_Avgani\AddOns folder.
Launching ArmA with the mods/addons:
- After installing the beta patch 1.16, you should have a shortcut in you main ArmA directory saying "Launch Arma Beta Patch 1.16", click with right mouse button in it and select properties.
- In the properties menu where says "path", add the following commands, -mod=@ACE -mod=@ACE-Islands -mod=@Afghan_Avgani.
- The path should look like this now: "E:\ArmA\beta\arma.exe -mod=beta -nosplash -mod=@ACE -mod=@ACE-Islands -mod=@Afghan_Avgani"
Now use the shorcut to launch Arma, plug in your microphone and have Fun!

What do we do about the files in the folders "opxplants" and "publickey"? I don't think they're supposed to be left on the desktop where i unrar'd the opx.rar.

If I were you, I would simply throw all the OPX files into the ACE Islands addon folder, that way, I just have the ace islands mod to start which inludes everything fom Avgani and Afghan village. basically copy EVERYTHING into the addons folder!

Open all folders in this folder and move the CONTENTS(take the files out of the folders) and move them into the @Afghan_Avagani/Addons folder in your ArmA Folder (Default: C:\Program Files\Atari\ ArmA\@Afghan_Avgani\AddOns) The one Exception is the MLods folder in the OPX_plants folder, copy this folder directly to the Addons Folder

The MLods-folder is not needed at all. Just delete it.

That may not be the brightest of ideas. Some servers may not allow the extra islands and you may get users not being able to play on other servers...

Hey guys. Can someone post an updated copy / paste of their ArmA shortcut target line. The one in the first post does not work, I am not getting the correct version.
I do have the patches up to date.

Try this one:
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ ArmA\beta\ arma.exe" -nosplash -mod=beta;@ACE-Islands;@ACE;@vopsound_ACE_1.19
If you added your extras, like Schmalafelden into your AddOns folder in your ArmA directory that should work, if not you will need to add them to the end, so it may need ' @schmalfelden or whatever way it is spelt. Also, if you don't use for example, VOPsounds, remove that from the link.

That should give anyone not yet familiar with how mods work in Arma some kind of idea on that, so that you can actually understand what all the jumbo in the shortcut means
Method 3, modfolders+armalauncher, is highly recommended for its flexibility.

Can someone clear up which of the above files are needed and what the install order is (starting from scratch here). Do I really need ALL of those? (0.9 PLUS two versions of 0.8?)
Trying to reinstall, but it's pretty confusing/frustrating.

Start with the ArmA patches in Jorge's post. Then do this:
1. ACE 1.08 Full
2. ACE 1.09 Patch
3. ACE Island 1.3 Full
4. Schmalfelden Full
5. Avgani Iraq 1.5 + Afghan Village 1.0 Full
6. I also had to add to ACE the bk_nets files to my ACE/AddOns folder, since they appear to be missing/deleted from the linked installer versions here.
When you're done make sure you can connect to each server.
