Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
Thats correct khAn.
Read the Readme with the TB software - you will have to amend the TB.cfg to point to your network IP's so that TB on your Laptop knows where TB is on your games machine. You can even set a password in the .cfg too. Install TB on your laptop (including the ArmA profile). This is the Client Install TB on your Gaming PC. This is the Server. Read the how to's and FAQ's on the TB forum to further your knowledge/understanding of how TB works. If you have any questions please post on the TB Forum: HERE or in this thread, and I will do my best to help you out. |

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
Man I am really wanting one of these now. Any thoughts on a linux port for the client? That would knock $100 off the cost of the client machine for a legal OS.

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
Hoo boy....just downloaded Touchbuddy and Buccaneer's ArmA profile. Fired up the laptop (did some fiddlin' with the config as per the read me), and I was off to the races. Kinda hard, though, to use the laptop mouse with my left hand while I'm playing the game. LOL!
Thanks for the tip Buccaneer O.K....now all I need to do is get me one of them touchscreens. Plenty from Hong Kong on Ebay apparently. |

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
Small question about the TeamSpeak interface. I'm not quite sure what the channel toggle switches are used for. Were these intended to be "whisper to" channels. I noticed in the "read me" file that you programmed them for the CTRL -SHIFT-LETTER combo...but I wasn't sure if this was intended for whisper or something else.
BTW the Teamspeak integration is nice. Logs in and switches channels perfectly. Any luck on the member names in each channel? |

I used the CTRL-SHIFT combination to keep the various TS activations well away from the in-game key presses. With regards to the member names for each channel; Zorlac (TB's creator, has said "I have to navigate the nightmare, which is Team Speaks code, before I can give channel names functionality"). He had bigger bugs to fry, but I think this feature is planned for a later release. |

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
I don't know how many people have been using my TB Profile for ArmA.
For all those interested, I have added a new "Mapping Screen". If in the heat of battle you forget what changes colour, and what key provides the Mapping symbology (like) me. You will find this additional screen helpful. You will still need your keyboard to type any info in to the text box though. A button to get you to "Mapping is on every screen", from the Mapping screen you can go back to "Squad", "Armour" or "Air". Download availabe under my sig in the "Downloads" bit. Thanks. P.S. Once the TS Channels are finalised (and lets face it, at the moment while we are still finding our feet), they change almost daily. I will update the Comms section of my profile. |

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
I've just paid a visit to the TB Forum. One of the Users "Carwash", has managed to work around the one PC/Dual Screen problem. Whereby your gun would go off if clicking outside of the ArmA gamescreen.
Here is his solution and all credit to the guy: "I've worked out a solution for this problem that works well. I've set up a virtual machine using VMWare and run a virtual windowsXP inside it. I uninstalled all the touch screen drivers from the host PC (but the host still sees the screen as a screen, just not a touch screen) and then installed the drivers /within/ the virtual machine. I then run a server/client touch buddy setup between the host machine and the virtual machine and make sure the virtual machine's display window is placed on the touch screen display. Works a treat. There's no lag in response time ( i thought there might be but no) and even though i'm essentially loading two lots of Windows, two lots of touchbuddy and the ArmA game (plus whatever other apps are running!) into RAM it hasn't even effected my frame rate in game. It's hardly elegant but it's /a/ solution!" While I was there, he posted a picture of him using his Touchscreen. Looks like he works for PC Format (big UK PC Magazine), and he is reviewing TB in next months issue - look whose profile he is using with ArmA! You would have thought a big company like Future Publishing would have provided 3 matching monitors eh? Tch!

Re: Touchbuddy & Touchbuddy Toolkit for Games
Looks OK to me Peardog. I would think any touchscreen or touchscreen overlay would work with the software.
Houdini recently purchased a Touchscreen but not sure which one ....? |
