As a new ArmA player, I have been struggling with getting all the control options properly noted for ease of use and future possible tweaking/re-binding. The little insert in the retail box is handy and there are some screenshots in the demo and online, but I am a very visual person and I wanted a fairly comprehensive map of all the basic infantry and related controls. I could't find one, so I made one. Here's what it looks like:




A .pdf version, for ease of printing, is available HERE for download. I thought this would be a helpful resource for new ArmA players.

While I was at it I color-coded some keys. Pay special note to the white keys and those with red text. The white ones are unbound by default in ArmA so they make good candidates for new/re-binds or TS keys. The keys with the red text are duplicate binds. They perform the same function as another key (usually movement related (Dark/Light Gray) so they are also good candidates for new/re-binds.

If you spot any errors or have any suggestions I am open to them before I go final with this.

Ok, here is an updated version. Better color codes (with a legend) and at the bottom I have included a list of all the radio command keys.

For the radio keys, it shows the key you press for each category and then below it all of the other options keys to give the specific command. e.g. 1 then 1 accesses the move menu and gives the return to formation radio command.

Again, check it out and if it looks good I will save it as a .pdf for easier printing.

Ok, Here is the .pdf 1.0 version for easing printing on letter-size paper.

Again, if you spot any errors or need clarification please let me know. Here are some interesting little tidbits about some ArmA keybinds.

-The "J" key is the only letter key not bound to anything so if there is something that you want access to with a single click, it makes a good candidate.

-There are a lot of duplicate keybinds (probably to accomodate both left and right handed players. Some of these are "V", Page Up, Page Down, NumPad *, Up/Dn/Left/Right arrow keys. As I stated above, if there are things you rather have quick access to, remove these binds and re-bind these to something else.

-On the topic of NumPad *, if you use the standard TG ArmA Teamspeak binding, NumPad * is also set to "Whisper to Channel Commanders". If you are a Channel Commander and don't remove the bind in ArmA (it is a duplicate of "Left Alt", you may go into free look when whispering so you may want to remove the ArmA bind.

-Some controls and commands I have found useful to bind, re-bind, or duplicate are:

*GPS Toggle (Right Windows Key) - I found Right Ctrl+M cumbersome.
*Get Out (Up Arrow Key)
*Eject (Down Arrow Key)
*Reveal Target "V" Key (after removing the default optics bind)

Note that printscreen button dumps a picture to the clipboard. It might not be a Arma feature but it does serve a function that people use. Would it be an idea to mark that button?

Good point, I am not sure...I debated this one with myself. I left it as white (unbound) since it didn't dump to an ArmA specific folder or other ArmA recognizable location/feature (like the battlefield series) so I didn't want to confuse the issue...I will happily add it though if the TG/ArmA community thinks it would be a good idea (with maybe a note somwhere on the page to clarify).

In a related topic, if people use/plan to use Fraps, you should probably re-bind the Fraps hotkeys for screen and video capture (which default to F11 & F12 I think) since these keys are used by ArmA to select subordinate units. In my case, I assigned the Fraps screen capture to PrintScreen and Video Capture to Pause (ScrollLock is used by TS already).
