1.08 Patch kills ARMA

I finally bought ARMA and played through the tutorials so everything was working fine. I have the Atari DVD release (US version). I downloaded and installed the 1.08 patch and ARMA will no longer start. It doesn't give any error messages and it doesn't even get to the first gray box that is supposed to show the checkmarks during the load. I uninstalled ARMA and re-downloaded the patch and got the exact same results. I have updated all of my drivers. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2GB ram
SoundBlaster Audigy 4
Dual 6600 GT's 128MB vram in SLi mode

Did you download the patch from Atari? If not, you should. Download version has a download version specific patch if I am not mistaken.

I have the UK socket version and updating it to 1.8 caused it to crash when it asks me to renew my activation key.

Yes. Here is the exact path I downloaded.

Make sure your audio card drivers are updated. I think a lot of people have been having trouble with these.

That sucks, but don't give up! Mine crashes to a BSOD and then a reboot if I happen to start ArmA without my NumLock activated. Took me about 3 weeks to figure why it was crashing intermittently

Some people had success with older drivers...but I would also make sure you update your directx to the June2007 patch first.

OK.....

Try this, apparently it may be a problem with Atari and Securom:

Just make sure to backup any files you might replace.

If that still doesn't work, try taking a look at the launch analysis (instructions here: http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=analysis)

And maybe take a look at the arma log files (if it actually writes them...) locations are here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/RPT#Armed_Assault

and I forgot to add that, if possible, try to use onboard sound and disable the audigy.

Yay for JAMerica! The zip file fixed the problem. I renamed my old exe and copied that one into the ARMA folder. I have searched high and low over the web you fixed it for me. Many thanks man!
