I don't know but with those kind of rigs you guys should be OK. Anything worse than medium settings and Arma2's gunna have some insane graphics.

I am playing this game currently and have been experimenting daily trying to find that "sweet spot" where the game is, frankly, playable.

I have:

Windows 7 rc (64 bit)
QuadCore Extreme 2.66 (Kentsfield)
Nvidia GTX 285
Creative Xfi pro gamer
8 gig Corsair xms2 extreme DDR2 8500

Running latest drivers. Have yet to flash my bios to the latest but it's a fairly new MB (EVGA nForce 780i SLI)

I started the quest for improved fps by buying the 285 and better/more ram (I had a 8800GTX and 4gig of crap ram).

Before I upgraded these components, on the single player "Counter Attack" scenario (the one where you play a cdf soldier and it starts in the back of a apc), I was getting a slideshow performance of 6 to 14 fps. Post upgrade 10 to 22.

Then I did a modest OC from 2.66 to 3.0
Same scenario played- 16 to 35 fps.
Now I'm not talking about the entire scenario, just the bit when you're in the apc.
Outside, when looking towards the town and watching the AI advance, I get around 20 -22 fps. If I turn around and look away, 35 to 45 fps.

My game settings are all set at normal except for post effects at high, 1680 rez, view distance 2000 meters, fill at 100%.

Arma2 settings

Besides these I have the "-winxp" option in my Arma2 shortcut. It makes a huge difference, because without it the second GPU seems to be completely idle.

How does it run?
In the single player campaign FPS varies between 10 and 75, with the average being around 20-25. Basically it's playable pretty much all the time except for the occasional slowdowns. Hosting the first few missions wasn't much of a problem either, even at night. If anything is holding me back it's probably the 256mb graphics memory, but I'm in no hurry to upgrade since it's runnig ok.

I saw in another post you said you had a 9800 now, and you are saying you are about to upgrade to a 9600 1 gig? Is that correct? I sure hope that is not what you are saying.

They are using the ARMA2-mark app. Scroll through and find a rig like yours and see how it scores. Then you will have a better idea.
