I strongly support adding new units into play, for variety, and there are many addons that are around or above the quality of vanilla game units. Script-heavy addons like SLX shouldn't be added before heavy testing, but there is no reason for simple unit and weapon addons not to work or to cause lag, unless severely bugged. The UK pack should be fixed before we keep on playing with it.
Definitely Bundeswehr, since it is only unit model, and the G-36 series of rifles is already ingame and high quality.
US army pack is very good and contains hangrip weapons as a bonus
Already mentioned KA-50 pack is also good but since we have KA-52 in game I doubt its usefulness.
There is also pack adding MH-6 and AH-6 choppers, which were very popular in ArmA, and go well with US army pack

Absolutely best mod that I have seen for ARMA2 is Villas's project 85, but it is not yet complete. It already has lots of units, weapons and vehicles, and you should give it a try, so when it is complete it can be included in mod pack.

It feels like people are terribly misinformed about how addons work and bluntly put don't have a clue about what can or should be used and what shouldn't, instead stating guesswork assumptions on their effects.
Simply put:
1 - Unit addons don't cause lag of any form or kind on the server unless they also run scripts which may or may not be well written.
2 - Signature verification serves a purpose but is a worse thief when it comes to connection-related desync and server lag than custom faces and sounds are
3 - Custom faces and sounds serves 0 purpose at all. I can't see a point in having them since player-tags exist to see who is who. They just cause desync and lag.
4 - Client side addons that don't communicate with the server don't affect the server AT ALL. They might cause the player to lag so much it causes desync issues, but at that point it'd hardly be playable for that player anyway. This categeory generally includes model replacements, sound mods, and other things REPLACING existing things like sounds, textures, etc. It is when the mods starts using ("including" and "using" are totally different things) custom classes that the server and other clients don't have that they stop being MP-compatible. Addons running scripts are a bit more difficult to generalize with since some are and some aren't multiplayer compatible.Last edited by Inkompetent; 11-09-2009 at 03:47 PM.

I would add also that a lack of multiple LOD's can cause serious lag if a lot of those units are used or they are used on lower end computers. For those who don't know what they are, LOD's are the different polygon models found within a .p3d file (BIS 3d model format inside the .pbo file). For example the first LOD may be 8000 polys, the second 2000, the third 800, the 4th 400, the 5th 200, etc... You need at least 3 LOD's but the best addons have like 8 LOD's. This makes things vastly smoother framerate-wise in both SP and MP games. You can see the different LOD's as you move away from a model. You can often see the lowest LOD in a MP mission with 30+ players when you enter a vehicle or start the game and everyone's face looks all stretched and blocky (low polygon model). That is normal. Also as you move away from a model you should see the different LOD's with antennaes and different details on a vehicle disappearing as you move away.

I already posted in the admin forums about this, but after the event i feel the need to bash british stuff even more as everything seems to have terrible bugs or at least bugs bad enough i wouldn't dare include them in my missions. I am currently in the process of alter 3 mission i made with UKF to CDF forces cause it was just so terrible for me at Sunday event. Between not being able to see anything cause of giant black streaks coming from land rovers to my SL screaming to cease fire cause he thinks its us not the other squad 300m away to the fact my GPMG was the ugliest and worst animated gun i have ever seen in arma 1 or 2.
As far as what i would like to see with mods is the very well made Russian tank pack. Which we will need for Namalsk as it adds winter camo tanks. Namalsk is a awsome islamnd that also come with some cool moduals that lets mission makers change lighting. Id say its nicer then everon, but thats just because it seems more full of things and everon can seem quite barren in some places.
Whatever you decide to include just make sure the Brit stuff gets taken out or fixed cause it is most certainly not of the quality I was hoping for from the TG modpack.
EDIT: I cannot figure out why the L85 was still included, did we NEED british forces, why were they added with a sub-par weapon instead of waiting for the UKF guys to get there act together and make a new one? I understand you wanting to add them for variety, but why them when there are so many other mods that are higher quality, less buggy, and overall better? The mod is way better quality than the British stuff, even though I don't find them Brits too bad either. New stuff is always welcome. Except for the L85 sounds nothing in them really ruins my experience, although the OFP and Arma1 quality does stand out a bit. A quick glance in the configs revealed they could use some tweaking and fixing(typos like "Cou_Infanry"), but there didn't seem to be any game-breaking errors.

Yea I was looking through the Project '85 mod and if we go with the Budeswehr mod we should throw in the weapons pbo from P85 so we can get iron sighted G3's and MG4's...

Not entirely true. Depends on what the addon is for and how many items of said type are expected to be on the battlefield at once. Too many LODs makes the LOD-switching quite sufferable, since the more LODs there are the more often the game will switch (and thus have to load) a new LOD and the relevant part of the MipMap. I dunno what the 'correct amount' of LODs is for a vehicle or a weapon or a soldier, but there can both be too many and too few

Good point inkompetent. I believe BI models use 5 LOD's if I remember correctly.

So far I see alot of people looking more towards the Canadian and German infantry/armor/air packs. I lean more towards the Canadian only because we have so many Canadians on TG and as far as I know, no German players. I may be wrong though.
I'm not real big on the U.N. addons, but since many players seem to want them, that seems to be another important addon. TG admins should perhaps get together a council of TG mission makers to make any final verdict. I'm a mission maker but primarily a SP mission maker. I've yet to make a TG MP mission so I know I am not part of any such decision making. I trust the TG mission makers to make good decisions although I hope they will take the player input under consideration.
The Kiev class Russian aircraft carrier for example seems like an absolute must. Likewise, the LCAC landing craft (if it works in MP) could be a lot of fun and is only 1 meg in size.
I should note also that a friend of mine, SFC. ITZHAK, will be soon releasing a kick ass CH-53E and CH-46 helicopter pack. I'm beta testing them right now, but these blow away the current CH-53 addon thats out now and would completely fill the USMC rotary wing aviation section. The interior on these addons is unbelievable as well as the exterior textures. He's just currently adding in the door guns and a few extra details.

I was reading about the Kiev class and while I agree it sounds and looks cool reading the notes it appears that it only a beta and has some major problems with functionality.
Also the reason I would prefer the Budeswehr mod over the Canadian forces is that the Canadian infantry a desert cammo where as the Budeswehr are woodland and the fact that the Budeswehr models, guns and vehicles are extremely high quality.
