Exactly why I offer to help with setting things up and discussing what modules should be in and what shouldn't, because if putting in every single module and running it as is I can with 110% certainty say that it'll be a disappointment in its current state. ^^

I think if SLX is being considered it should be in relation to specific features and not the whole pack. I know I personally wonder if it is necessary given that there are a number of smaller addons that add similar functionality. I would also ask for pretty extensive testing, given that it seems likely to disagree with a number of the addons people use.

Is this going to be mandatory like the Tg modset? This is starting to suck. Where does it stop? When everyone gets everything they want? Go with my first suggestion... go dl everything on Armaholic and be done with it. We are going to running so much crap it will take forever to figure out whats messing up your game. Why is this addon necessary to play Arma 2 ?

Its mandatory in that when you connect to the server you must have it on other wise the server will crash. After we test all the features on Saturday we will review the ones we do not like and remove them for Sunday. A feed back thread will be created on Saturday morning.

SLX was just updated to version 1.8: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost....&postcount=473

What version are we going to use in the testing?

Heh, was just about to post that myself, Finc! Seems like he's more or less sorted most of the worst recent issues that people had with the post-1.5 versions.

Also, I can quickly suggest some things to skip, and why. I won't bring up things I think are debateable or that I think are good, just what I think there's no doubt about that they should be removed.

    SLX_AISkill: Conflicts with Zeus.
SLX_Alpha_Numbers: Changes people's 'number' in a unit to a word instead, so that #3 becomes 'Charlie'. Very confusing, and directly counter-productive considering squad callsigns.
    SLX_Alpha_Teams: Same reason as above.
SLX_Anim_Crawl: Speeds up the crawl animation to something ridicilous. I'd like to see someone in combat gear crawl like that for more than 5-10 meters.
SLX_Anim_Jump: Stupidly fast jump/climb-over animation. The old one is nice.
SLX_ModWeapons_Sounds: Solus shouldn't tinker with sounds. Seriously. He's a good coder, but some stuff here can make people turn in their graves. Also conflicts with sound mods.

So, tomorrow we'll be testing SLX? Alrighty.
I only need something clarified: do we have to d/l ArmA1 maps too? And if so, which ones?

Have the problems with weapon damage that Inkompetent mentioned been fixed yet? I don't see anything in the 1.8 changelog about it.

According to some posts on the BIS forum the problem persists, but was cured by removing SLX_Mod_Veh_Armor.pbo, if I recall correctly. Probably just the infantry that has very high armour levels, and that the damage is supposed to be treated by the HandleDamage eventhandler, but I guess it's broke/not working as intended =/

I'll try and join you guys. The only things I really dont see as needed are anything that changes sounds or graphics.

Sound changes over the vanilla game should be left up to the user unless its a needed fix. (ie:l85 sounds). Myself and Im sure others would prefer the vanilla sounds over someone elses idea of what should sound like what. Plus, I've just gotten to the point where I can identify weapons based on sounds.

Graphical changes should be like the sounds. Left up to the user. In order to run this game at a decent framerate (avg 25-30fps) I have to run everything at low or med with post processing off. Given how some missions overwrite the vegetation settings my frames drop down into the teens on certain maps. Anything that adds unnecessary effects is gona bog the game down for alot of people.

Heh, yeah. It's pretty fun to see a .50 machine gun kick up 10 meter high smoke plumes when shooting at grass :P
