    Anti-Tank Weapons Guide

Hey all, I was bored today so I decided to test the AT weapons against tanks in OA. I wanted to test the new tanks in OA and see how the AT weapons in general performed in OA. Some things were mind opening and others were about par. I'm mostly going to use the info in how I create my own missions and the assets that are available. I thought you guys would like it, so I jazzed it up and made it into a doc.

I was motivated by playing on OA_Alpha where the heavy weapons squad I was in encountered four tanks and we had no CAS and only AT4's. 1 tank was disabled the rest killed most of our squad before the mission was called due to attrition on command/alpha's part. And yes, we had to stop the tanks else they would have rolled in on the main city/objective and killed Alpha otherwise I don't mind avoiding them.

Skip to page 4 for the data, otherwise the rest is good reading. I hope to make a IFV/IAV/APC guide in the future as I'm interested in seeing how the up armored vehicles in OA and extra ones are going to perform, does all that extra rpg screen really protect the stryker more... thats what I hope to find out!

If there is a way to attach it like an email let me know otherwise use that link for now. And if this violates SOP's I understand and will take it down, I don't intend this to be x hits equals destroyed, the beauty of the BIS vanilla system is it varies and varies where you hit too, this is just a general idea of what it takes (methodically done), not a cheat sheet. It really opened my eyes on some things and will help me be a better AT specialist in the future as I hope it does for others.

Good work, this really helps me as ive started playing armour wherever possible.
I think ACE will be altering alot of this when it gets more developed, but thats miles down the line.

Thanks, very informative guide, and it looks like you put a good amount of work into it.

The strength of the M1A1 is surprising... The weakness of the AT-4 is also surprising. I knew that it wasn't a strong AT weapon, but knowing that it kills almost no heavy armor with one shot is a good fact to keep in mind.

Should be standard reading for any player with AT who wants to know "can I kill that thing?"

The m136 is a HEAT weapon, meaning it can't defeat any vehicle with reactive or composite armor, i.e. all modern MBTs. IRL you can shoot a silly amount of M136s at an Abrams and it will go lol. It's suitable for killing IFVs and against entrenched targets.

The hilarious thing about arrowhead is the ballistics on the AT weapons - 3000 meter effective range is absurd considering the AT4 is only effective in real life at about 150 meters and minimally effective at up to 300 meters. Same thing goes for RPGs.

So are you advocating that other than the big ones such as the Javelin, the AT of choice would be the MAAWS?

Pretty much: the AT4 in OA has a "realistic" warhead, and as such is mostly useless alone against a single MBT, but unlike RL (and ACE) the M136 round occupies a whooping 6 inventory slots! With the RPG-7 or the M3 MAAWS you can carry 3 AT rounds for the same inventory space, each MUCH MORE powerful thant the M136.

    Edit:
the reason the AT4 is not that powerful is because it's designed to be a one-shot multirole light AT weapon: it is designed to give infantry squads a powerful punch against light vehicles and entrenched infantry on a pinch when a dedicated AT squad is not avaiable, and being light enough to carry so that it won't slow the soldiers carrying it.

    Now with 200% more content!
