    Emita City - Map for Alpha

    Emita City has been selected for the map we will trial on Alpha server. The following post will explain the usage of this map.

    If you don't have Six Updater yet then you can get it HERE.

    Once you have Six Updater installed then have it closed & click on the following link.
    sixupdater://six.tacticalgamer.com/alpha/tgalpha.yml
    It will start Six Updater & create a preset for your Alpha. Then right click on the Alpha preset, choose "Updater Actions", then "Install or Update"

    If you already have @TGAlpha installed you must update again due to signature checking. This will also give you STHud & STMovement on Alpha too!

    Rules re: Usage Of Custom Content On ALPHA

    *** all voted admins are expected to follow this ***


    1. The server can never be left running a mission on Emita City with no players.
    2. Emita City should be used for short durations only - play a mission then back to a stock seeder map.
    3. When switching to an Emita City mission it must be announced by in-game chat on Global with time for all players to get the link for it.
    4. TG players in-game should be prepared to assist guests getting the content when possible. Admins are prepared for this but if no admin is around & you change to the custom content, you are taking the responsibility.



    WHY ALL THE RULES?
    Simply because ALPHA server is the point of entry for TG ArmA. The purpose of the custom content is to provide those who find our server & our teamwork to be what they are looking for with another means of getting cool content while being referred to the forums.

    We play a standard Takistan or Chernarus Domi & when we have 10 guests who are really liking the teamwork and seem ready for a more in-depth TG experience we can provide them with the link to Emita City & run a custom misson on that map. This may work to reduce the pubbies who are here who don't care about teamwork. Those that do are more likely to stick it through. How well this works is up to how we all apply this custom content and how inviting we are.

    The other purpose is to give our regular Alpha players a change of pace. Some new fresh content. Bravo players don't have this either so it should be fresh & interesting for everyone.

    THE NASTY MEAN POWER HUNGRY ADMIN ULTIMATUM
    If these guidelines are not followed we will have to remove the custom content from ALPHA to preserve it's purpose as the gateway to TG ArmA. This is an experiment we hope you enjoy, OR ELSE!

    You can also grab it from the following link and manually install @TGAlpha. This has been updated as of Apr 16/2012 so be advised the best way to update is by using Six Updater.



    Choose to save the file to somewhere easy to find like your desktop. Then extract the folder @TGalpha to your game directory.





    If you have a non-steam install you will find your game folder likely here:
    c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma2 operation arrowhead

    If you have steam it will likely look like this:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead


    NOW TO LAUNCH THE GAME WITH THE MAP YOU MUST ADD @TGalpha TO YOUR MOD LINE. There are 3 ways to do this we will cover...
    [INDENT]
    1. Simply add @TGalpha to your mod line in your shortcut as in the following example:

    If you use a desktop shortcut, right click on your shortcut. Then select properties. After selecting properties, click on the target line box, and scroll to the very end of the target line. Then, press space ONE time. Then add -mod=@TGalpha
    Then, click apply. For a non steam install, your target line should look like this;
    "c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe" -mod=@TGalpha;

    There are a wide variety of ways that this game gets installed so the easiest option may be just to skip to using the ArmaII Launcher.

    2. Using ArmAII Launcher. Start ArmAII Launcher (see HERE if you don't have it & see item 1-2). Then "refresh" your mods & drag the @TGalpha from the left side window into a folder on the right side. Make sure the check box is enabled on both the @TGalpha & the parent folder as below.
