Hey everyone, I'm sure you've heard questions like these about a thousand times so I apologize before hand.
I picked up ARMA 2, British Armed Forces and Operation Arrowhead over Christmas during a steam sale but I never really played it much. I really wanted to but I couldn't figure out how to get online. Anyway, I busted up my ankles a few weeks ago and I've been laid up in bed the whole time so now I'm determined to figure it out. First of all I can never find many servers, maybe just 5-10 and even when I find one with people on it I can never seem to get into the game. It loads up and then right after it boots me out back to the main server page. I'm pretty sure my version is up to date (steam automatically updates) and it's not a hardware issue because I have no problem playing SP so I really have no idea what's going on.
The next question I have is how do I find a TG server? I've read through most of the "Hitchhikers Guide To TG ArmA" thread and this is exactly the type of online experience I've been craving. I'm a complete noob when it comes to ARMA but it seems like you guys are very understanding and helpful when it comes to new players and that's something I haven't found anywhere else.
I had a several more questions (those above being the biggest) but for the life of me I can't remember them right now. Once again, I apologize if this is posted in the wrong spot or a repost similar to someone else's. I would really appreciate any help and I hope to see some of you on the battlefield very soon.
Allow me to get some clarification. Do you own just arrowhead? Or do you have the original arma 2 as well (combined operations)? Our servers require combined ops to play (ao and Arma). If that's all good than you should be able to get on our alpha server. It runs the vanilla arma games. Or if you want to sink your teeth in right away. Just follow the hitchhikers guide to getting up to bravo speed.
Go ahead and get your teamspeak up and running first, and ask for help there and I'm sure you'll find someone that can help you further in getting started.
To find our servers just search for them in-game by searching "tacticalgamer". There should be four results.
Hope to see it working out for you. I'd love to help you out tomorrow, but right now it's 1am here and I can't type efficiently on my iPod.
Hope that helps clear at least a few things up,
-Shoomfie
Well first of all welcome to TG I am glad to see you have found us here.
If you have read through the "Hitchhikers Guide To TG ArmA" that means you are in the right path.
I do not have much to add, follow Shoomfie's advice and then get on TS, you will find people there to help you. If I am around poke me or PM me on TS and I will do my best to get you up and running.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I originally bought Arma 2 and then purchased Combined Operations- It shows up as Operation Arrowhead in steam with an option "Launch ARMA 2: Combined Operations". Hope that clears things up a little. Also, it doesn't matter whether I play Arma 2, OA or CO I still can't seem to get into a match for whatever reason.
I haven't used teamspeak since I played Americas Army, probably 7 years ago... I'm assuming I need to download it, Correct?. How do I go about finding you guys on there once I do?
I'll try searching the TG servers real quick before I go to bed and see if I can't get into a game.
Okay, I'm starting to feel stupid. I know every server interface is different but I feel like a complete idiot right now. I can't seem to find a way to seard for the tacticalgamer servers. I thought there would be a search bar or something, maybe I'm just missing it. I went into the filter options and typed it into the "host name" spot with no luck. Am I missing something?
No reason to feel stupid, we have all been new to the game.
When you launch your game and you go to mulitplayer, then there is a filter tab at the bottom, put tacticalgamer in the host option, and the rest leave to 0 and show.
If that fails, then jump in on TS, it is usually easier to talk you through things

Haha I feel a little less stupid now, thats exactly what I did. Still came up with nothing though...
Just donwloaded TS and dug up an old headset (pray that it works). I'm gonna try and get it set up real quick. Any chance that youre on right now?
You will need to synch your TS with your account in TG, I am usually in the ArmA channels, so just PM me and I will guide you through that.
You found the servers but you are getting kicked, that could be because of your battleye being an older version, but we can fix that
One thing that will help finding more servers in ArmA is checking what the filters are set to. Most servers require BattleEye, the anti-cheat software used for ArmA. Make sure that is enabled in the multiplayer browser screen.
Unfortunately, BattleEye can also be one of the common sources of trouble connecting to a server, if it's not installed properly or enabled. In your ArmA2 folder is a BattleEye reinstall tool (in its own folder "BEsetup") in case you did not install or removed BattleEye, or it is damaged/corrupted you can run that tool to reinstall BattleEye.
ArmA's server browser can be a little tough to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad.
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...
