Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

I think the best bet would be to utilize the existing TG University system. No doubts many could benefit from a relaunch of sorts however.
    http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactical-gamer-university/

I only got 1 page from the PDF, was that the whole document? Could have been posted just as easily (less the formatting)
The TacticalGamer Training Center is not an official part of TG. Any kind of training is absolutely voluntarily. Not passing a course will have no effect on rights ingame or inside the community.
The Basic Infantry Combat Course contains servile little trainings. To have an access to the next course, you must pass the courses in their following displayed order:

    BICC -> AICC ->
    Specialist AT
    Specialist Medic
    Specialist Quick Reaction Forces
    Specialist AR
    Specialist Parachutist Operator
    Specialist Grenadier
    Specialist Night Operator
    Marksman Expert
    Motorized Course
    Convoy Logistic Course
    Basic Helicopter Skills
    Advanced Air Course

    The BICC contains following trainings
    - Basic Rifleman Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Medic Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Automatic Rifleman Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Grenadier Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Anti-Tank Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Parachutist Skills (Ribbon)
    - Basic Formations
    - Basic Fireteam Level Commands
    - Basic Squad Level Radio Telephone Communications

Who passes all trainings of the Basic Infantry Combat Course will achieve the BICC-Ribbon in gold or silver.
Q: How many members of Congress does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. There is nothing wrong with the light bulb; its conditions are improving every day. Any reports of its lack of incandescence are delusional spin from the liberal media. That light bulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effort. Why do you hate freedom?!?

We really should go for more training! We really need it in quite some situations and behaviors really bad.
I mean... when we're not able to get a working column formation, and the AR means his job is accurate shooting, then somethin is a little wrong.
I haven't heard proper radiocomms in a while, all that little stuff is bunching up.

We really should activate a training course every 2 weeks. Which is a requierment for playing on bravo.

Thats not gonna happen, training is great and if you want to train people thats fine, but TG is a community with the only requirement being you follow the primer, making people do training before they are even allowed to join a server is gonna result in bravo never being played.

This I agree with. Whether or not we should take that privilege from TGU is where I'm concerned.

EDIT: I agree with OPTIONAL training. Not Required training. Give some incentive to getting it done, if just the knowledge isn't good enough. The people who play bravo are all willing to learn, so you shouldn't have a problem with that. But discuss this with the guys at TGU first. It's their job, and sure we can't expect them to come online every time we have a new player (that's our job) we can expect them to host training events that are publicized and open to the public (with a sign up, of course).

Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

I missformed that sentence a bit I think. With requierment I meant something like: Every player should see this form himself as something which needs to be done, infact that we're on a community which is called tactical gamers. (also wrote that in the document: voluntarly at any point)

And Yeah, i would like to hear a statement from one of our ArmaII TGU members. Is there a possibility to create something like a working section which is allowed to hand out training ribbons and set up training missions? Something what works longer than just 1 or 2 months? With fixed courses and trainings?

Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

I like the idea of training "requirements".

I personally think that trainings (at least Basic Infantry and Basic Communications) is absolutly necessary to have "Tactical" Gameplay.

As Pax said, If people don't even get simple formations right, without telling everybody where exactly he needs to be, something is going terribly wrong.
Things like comms, formations and behavior are (or should be) standart procedures. The SL or FTL shouldn't tell you every 5 seconds what formation to walk, where exactly you need to stand, what "supressing fire" means and what you need to do in certain situations.
The quality of gameplay drops very deep without these trainings, and I personally think that this is one of the reasons why the Bravo server is empty most of the time.
Sure, fun is the most important thing. But this doesn't means to drop the quality of the gameplay.
A "Tactical" Gameplay community should make sure to have trainings, and make sure that ALL members/players have the same knowledge and the same understanding of "Tactical" Gameplay and behavior.

Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

Not gonna happen, TG will never restrict the play on any of it's servers in that fashion. There are real sim communities out there if thats what you want but it won't happen here. Perhaps you would be happier with something like 7th Cav, that has a rank structure and rigorous training. When there is enough interest and enough people sign up for the classes that TGU offers then they will have a class. Talk to the right people here about the criteria that needs to be met, get the people to sign up and show up and make it happen.

Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

An interesting compromise might be to have "(insert cool name here)" nights, where (say twice a month or so to start) you must have attended a class to join. And, preferably, you have to have taken the class for the slot you want (e.g. grenadier, medic, pilot, etc.). I think that would be a plausible idea at least. However, as stated before, requiring training for bravo on a regular basis, is a bad idea.

I like the little incentive about training pins/ribbons. Although it's not really important, it would be nice for events to see who, really excels in certain areas. If this kicks off, I'd be happy to help design/implement the graphic art for these (either based on real military, or completely new). I know that TGU offers graduation "pins" for some of there classes (especially in the Battlefield realm).

I think training could have a lot of potential, for both being fun, as well as making the game more fun. I say that as long as someones having fun doing it, then they should go for it. Either start an Arma specific training course, or revamp the TGU field. I'd love to get on board with the training aspect of Arma, but for the next couple of months I'm going to be super busy. Since Pax seems interested, I'm nominating him for the point person. I'll be shooting you a PM, with some ideas here in a week or so.

Re: [DISCUSSION] TG TC - TacticalGamers Training Center

Psst...there is some upcoming training coming down the pipeline. As a matter of course, we have Tactical Gamer University and our ArmA house in TGU is under going a shift at the moment. However, I have it from a little birdy on my shoulder that you should prepare your notebooks, clear your fraps capture directories and get your serious on.

Generally, we have a training program in place and it is scrutinized to adhere to TG standards. This is TGU. There have been adhoc training sessions in the past much like each of us do everytime we are on the server one on one, but just with a few more at a time...but officially this should be done through TGU. Watch for the news. I know this is a teaser. That is the point...

    @Shoomfie, @Pax:
I would also be there to help out in these trainings. I could help as Instructor (maybe for some "specialized areas") aswell as in the forum with writing stuff and maybe even making ingame-graphics to demonstrate certain things.
