With only one full squad on each side, this map had a lot of ground to cover.
We were the GER defending against the evil UKR that have helis but no chutes. Poor evil dumbkopf UKR, vee are embarrass for you. Haff your schist togedder next time, vee zink. I started a squad named TG is GO! and I was joined by Rich73, [OMX]SgtJAFO, alkcore, SIRMcD and Toxic_Toast. In the first minutes I realized I had no VOIP, so I had challenges right off the bat. I marked the hills East of Motherland for defense, and started spotting choppers. After the first 10 minutes of no-one landing, bailing out of choppers and dying, and killing two snipers who made it to the ground intact, we had the Culdesac go white. We pushed in and after a brief firefight, won the flag back. This flag was to become our continual rallying point on which our defense stood. I couldn't count the number of times we lost and gained back Culdesac, Statue and Park, but there was a fairly constant putting out of fires as different flags went white. Culdesac was our priority flag though, and we kept it for most of the round. About halfway into the round, the squad had really gelled well, people were reading my hastily-typed commands and getting the feel of the ebb and flow of capping and defending to keep bleed. When opposition was too much, we simply concentrated elsewhere, often moving in nebulous groups of two and three. The other squad of one (locked, but I didn't have time to worry about it with no VOIP) was fairly involved, and because I was typing everything he knew what we were up to and seemed to act accordingly, even climbing to the roof of the Cathedral during one of our many firefights and sniping to cover for the fireteam that went there. It's not easy getting across what you mean in a few words, but these guys really tried, and kept trying. At one point all but the Culdesac was capped by UKR, and I had just been killed defending it. My guys at the statue and Park had capped before I even respawned. There were many times when one or another of the guys would go off solo and cap a flag behind the enemies' backs, which in this situation was the right thing to do, and I appreciated their initiative. They proved many times over that they could pull off what they were doing to fall back, regroup and be retasked on new objectives. Rich73 often checked in with voice to clarify orders, which benefited the whole squad. It was hard to quickly get across what I needed, but I think the squad made up for it by really moving once they got the order onscreen. It took a while to understand the fireteam concept, and there were a few misunderstandings of who was to go where and do what, but overall a lot of communication for a squad that didn't (couldn't) talk much! Near the end, half the squad got teamswitched or dropped, but you can see their scores, which were almost entirely made while fighting with TG is GO! We bled them all round long with a final score of 198 to 87. It was a pleasure to work with this squad through a frustrating and challenging (for us) situation. If the UKR had been more organized and taken more chances, I think we would not have faired as well, but I'm sure this squad would have fought just as hard and made the same effort to work together. Good playing with you guys, and nice job. ![]()
