Strange round of Sambir...
First off, we Germans won by 70 tix or so, and I don't think we were ever that close to losing the round, but the victory was so strange...
Our Village D squad was defending the Village, of course. Super-shouts to Svidri, Gahlas, Robo, Cyco105, and Mattio123 who finished the round with us. Everyone did a great job. At one point, I was making jokes about how I got stuck with the 3 guys without mics, but those 3 guys (Cyco, Robo, and Gahlas) and I have played enough that they don't need to talk: it does indeed seem like we always know what each other are doing, and that's fine teamwork, and they ALWAYS play like that. Svidri did have a mic, and that came in handy when I had to split my squad later... Anyway, we had a good enough rollout at game-start to cap the village (middle) flag. There was a lot of good action there, but the short story is that we held it the entire game. Again, lots of fine teamwork and communication between the two mini-fireteams made that happen. (Mostly it was me and Svidri up on the AA gun/hill top and everyone else down in the valley.) What made this game so odd was that we (the Germans) pretty much only owned the village flag for the whole round- we couldn't keep our back flag capped. I'm really curious as to what was going on back there (and maybe I need to watch the BR, but I hope guys chime in here.) I will say that watching the mini-map was making me crazy- we musta had every piece of armor except for our squad's APC and Tank surrounding that farm down there, and we couldn't hold/cap the flag. Anyway, when our 60-70 ticket advantage was being bled away and I'd had enough, we made our plans to split the squad... Robo, Gahlas, and miked-up Svidri took our armor down to the south farm... and capped it. (Gahlas actually earned the honor.) Again, on the mini-map, it looked odd... as far as I could tell (and heard) they just fought right in and capped it. Having achieved that little mission, they promptly ran our armor back up to the Village to save my butt--- Cyco, Mattio and I had our hands full with a last, desparate Uke armor charge at the Village flag. We bled them out for the solid win from there, and did cap the squad award for the round. Again, I want to thank some fine play from my squad-mates, and just reiterate how much fun it is to play this game when a squad clicks- whether it's guys in an IHS, the guys I play with everyday, or players new to TG... it's a blast. Thanks to everyone who played. |

Re: Strange round of Sambir...
Good round and some fine SLing as always. It was quite odd seeing our entire team at the back flag forming a semi-circle yet not being able to take it. When we arrived we just drove right up to the flag, killed a few baddies and capped it, no problem.
I guess it goes to show that a small group of TGers can out-do an entire team of lesser-coordinated people anyday.

Re: Strange round of Sambir...
Our teams persistence with going for the backflag was the reason we lost. Terrible kill/death ratios as they got slaughtered by armor and air all round. Those involved need to read this post.
