Excellent night of POE2
A shout out to all the guys playing Sunday night, it was a solid 5 hours of good rounds, which I don't think I've done for about a year. Map after map the games were tense, wild battles with some very close calls, good teamwork for the most part, and enjoyable squadmates even when the team was making a rather bad show of it.
I SL'ed for several rounds, and had great squads every time. I was fortunate to play with lots of guys (and a gal or two ) who quickly clicked together, making newcomers feel welcome, and showing why TG is the best place to play.
DaVinci, MiloPanda, Mattio, Bisclaveret, Lokka, SeriusTurtle, Robo, Jp4, Whiskey, GreasyMullet, Magonushi (and his brother
), Judge Leo, Mantis, XCannon, Penguineer, the guy who left to play D&D
and so many others--I'm losing track, I know--but if you were with me, please PM me so you can be recognized. Whether having you in my squad as I led, or working with you as SM, it was a fine night for me, one of the ones that comes along too rarely--not every map won, but every map thoroughly enjoyed and played well.
You guys on Fallen, what a fun round, bouncing back and forth between Lumbermill and South Cabin. Wherever we went, we capped! And the snickerdoodles were to die for.
My squad on Dnister City, you guys were like the Energizer Bunny, I was really impressed--especially when we were on the NE side of the map and there were two APCs, we had almost no cover, and were all dead but one at one point, then we pushed through, flanked, took out a squad, stole the APC, took Culdesac and then Motherland, and even pushed on Statue and Park! We saved the map for our team. You know we made the difference, so congrats!
Carpathian Crew, what a rock-solid defense, awesome. We had the only flag at at least one point, so that was worth the round right there, but we also repelled at least 6 or 7 attacks, and never lost the flag. Awesome!
Berezne (late night 16 player), great job on splitting between flags and holding them down!
To my squads on Carpathian, Dnister City, Fallen and Berezne (did I forget one? Sorry if I did), damn, you all did a great job; you really kept up with things when they were moving fast, and stayed alert when things got a bit slow (what was that, twice? for about 15 seconds?
) Thanks for joining my squads and being a part of a great night. I look forward to many more of these with all of you in the new year!

Re: Excellent night of POE2
Ya I had a lot of fun Sunday. Good squads with new faces, mostly close games and I got to take some SL breaks and enjoy some vehicle play here and there.
Yalta: I was just flying around in the Sokol but the score was very close so I assume there was a good game on the ground. I enjoyed partnering with thegoat in the Shilka....definitely a guy I hope sticks around. Follows orders to a tee and the squad excels because of it. Love having him in my squads.
Carpathian: My squad performed very well on this map. Textbook East Farm defense with a good spread of kits. We got hit pretty steady after a quiet first 5 minutes and no one came close to taking the flag. There was one squad that kept trying but they obviously were not as familiar with the map and what it would have took to take that flag with the typical armor and infantry setup we had rolling. They always got wiped out very quickly. In that squad I rolled with Bosanac(dingo carnage at start...sniper the rest of the round), thegoat(reliable at), mike54(various kits since I stole his support role!), Ristin and Hitestfest(usually the armor guys). Hilarious ending to the round as well as we fast attacked a flag in the last 20 secs and all got blown up by c4 ...blaaahhh.
Odessa: Down 30 to 24 and being on the team with 24 on a map that heavily favors the 30 I knew this would not go well. I started the round running a squad at Lighthouse...we were doing OK but damn there was no air support whatsoever. Our jets and hind were all grounded. I don't like bailing on a squad but I had to get some air up to negate that cobra at the least. Ristin helped out and jumped in the hind. Before I left I gave a little coaching and I think the guy who took over SL stuck with it and appeared to be keeping the squad together. By the end I had a fully functional air squad that was doing some good things. The ground game wasn't doing much better but I am sure they were doing the best they could. As usual since USMC controlled Dockyard we didn't have armor support and usmc had plenty.
Raid on Kerch: Ran another Learn TG squad. Rolled with Magonushis brother, Raubhamster, Risten, madyen, thegoat and Dark Diggler in the later half. Tried to steal the main at start...looked promising but they quickly pulled back with the tank and got rid of us. Nailed the tank with c4 but got taken out before we could make a steal. After that we did an insertion on the slums and took it easy. Not much going on there so we went after Distro...took that flag and locked it down nicely for a while with thegoat keeping the tank out with mines. Rest of the map is a blur but I know we did well...squad had a +20 or so K/D ratio and achieved almost every objective. Team lost but I was happy with my guys.
Berezan Island: Can't resist flying a flanker. Caused a lot of trouble....Cannon tried to get me but its hard to find a bomber that stays high in the clouds with quick vertical bombing runs. Was a very close game so I'm sure the ground game was fun.
Snake Eyes: With the team makeouts I felt Snake Eyes would be ok to load. It was tough at first as the armor was locking us out but I imagine the arty support cleared the way at some point because the north was eventually clear and my squad assaulted up the Ramp by the Docks. Sneaking through we took the Hotel and then took the UKR main a bit later. My squad held that flag the rest of the round. With magonushi in command the team came back from maybe 150 down and pulled off a nice win despite needing to hold 4 flags for bleed while ukr only needed 3. The plan was obviously built to hold flags that forced the enemy into the ddx guns range and the kills started to rack up quickly near the end.
Fallen: Stacked teams and a lot of successful zerging in the squad I was in but hopefully the other team still had fun.
Dnister City: Changed next map to this one since the stacked team would get switched to ger which has it tough on that map. I switched since I didn't see too many other regulars do so. The round started very well for UKR...squad I was in rolled on Church....then Park and then the center flag with very little resistance. What was everyone doing? This continued for a while as GER was often down to one or two flags. Later on they did start pushing back though and things were pretty even for the last third. A good game despite it getting late and not enough players for that map size.
Rivne: Night winding down I force loaded Rivne 16 next. I am glad I did. We had about 25-30 on the map and it was a blast. I ran around in Mullets squad. We did well in everything we wanted to do but we were probably too cautious in regards to sticking on defense. When all the teams heavy hitters are in one squad its better to not tie yourself down to one flag I think. We eventually got capped out right near the end when we were close to winning and I think this was one of the reasons...the other teams agressiveness paid off. I caused lots of trouble in the MLTB...that vehicle is very underappreciated. You can clean up with the gunner seat since your protected.|TG-12th|mantis

Re: Excellent night of POE2
It was a pretty good night... way better than friday night... (where I went to bed convinced I was done with POE2 for a while.)
I led a squad in early evening (after 7:30), I've gotta get over the worry of kicking people out of the squad though... I don't mean to be an ass, but I'm trying to get better at squad leading, and 1 or 2 guys running off to cap a 'undefended' flag, grumble grumble. then 3 seconds later they are spawning on me cause the flag was defended, and they got taxed! anyway... I digress. It was a god night.
I followed a couple 'outsiders' and then ended the night laying mines for Whiskey in defense of the docks. really gave me a chance to mess with the AT kit. I usually play Med or Support, I think I can do the most good with either of those. AT isn't easy, and you guys that hit armor every time, good on ya.
I spent one round giving ammo to lokka who was in a different squad, and was blasting tank shells all over the place.
it was a good time. Thanks to all who played and SL'd and CO'd for that matter. the Co's had a plan, that was great!Park Bench

Re: Excellent night of POE2
Last night was a blast! It was funny though - on just about every map I was on, I started the pre-round planning thinking I was on the other team... "ok, I'll try getting in the littlebird and heading.. oh... uh yeah, we're on defense.. lets see where everyone else spawns and fill the gap
"
I joined at the end of Carpathian, but Odessa was really the first map for me. I started a squad, which surprisingly filled up in about 3.5 phemtoseconds - After seeing the squad, the first words out of my mouth were "ohhhhhh boy - this is gonna be fun!"... We weren't close to top-squad, but I'm positive we had a huge impact on that map.

I asked everyone to hold spawn, and that we were going for Dock Yard. We ended up taking it and holding it the whole round, although, to be honest, we never really saw many organized assaults... a few 3 man jeep rushes.. a lone armor unit rolling across the bridge every few minutes.. a few 1-2man parachute attacks, etc... Anyway - it was a great round - some of the best teamwork I've been a part of in a long time. People communicated very well (citing strength and direction of contacts, anticipating ammo and med needs, etc).
I spent much of the round on the roof of the flag building, bothering what little UKR air we saw with the SA-7. Robo and Rhino worked together on the tank, MiloPanda was INSANE with the TOW... taking out everything from armor to helicopters(!!).. Bench was dedicated AT and did a great job getting mines down and keeping them in place for the whole round. Fallen was jack of all trades, mainly rotating between specops and support (keeping our AT, tank, and SA-7 Stingers well stocked)
(We also had a CO which was very helpful. The only thing worse than Robocop in a tank is Robocop in a tank with a crate or two nearby).
Next up was Kerch. Thinking I was on US, I started a TG Assault squad. After the squad filled up, I started issuing orders and then realized we were actually UKR, and not US! D'oh!

Anyway - after seeing the initial spawn, we started at Slum. We were immediately ordered by Xcannon (who did a fantastic job of CO'ing the round) back to City Hall to help defend. We rushed back and got to the flag just in time. Lokka ended up in the tank, and we basically defended City Hall and disco for the whole round. With that tank, you can lock down both flags pretty well actually, since theres a road that goes between them which offers really good protection.
Berezan Island was next. Is it just me or do these rounds seem to last a LONG time? Anyway - we started at lighthouse and defended there most of the round. After we lost it about 2/3 of the way through, we regrouped at Listening post and staged an attack on camp:
I decided to do a two-pronged attack on the flag to capture it. We all approached from the woods to the southwest of the flag. Before we were in visual range of the compound, I sent the APC on it's own to the northwest approach, outside the sandbags. I then had 4 infantry with me and we moved around the south entrance. Everyone held fire and followed orders VERY well here!! Once we (infantry) were at the south east corner of the compound (by the cliff), I told the BMP to pop smoke and make a lot of noise to draw their attention. It worked like a charm, as my four guys all got on the flag which rips it down almost instantly. We defended Camp for another 10 minutes or so before loosing it just before time expired.
This time, we spawned at UKR main, I grabbed a jeep and we raced around the north side of the island - We drove down onto the beach using the "down ramp" northwest of camp, followed the beach all the way to the "up ramp" by lighthouse. I drove directly to the flag where, again, almost everyone got on the flag and immediately turned the flag. We defended there for the rest fo the round. I didn't get a shot of this round, but GREAT job to everyone in the squad - followed orders to a T and made it a real joy to SL on a map that can sometimes be a little boring.
Snakey Eyes. This was the final map of the night for me, but it was a doozy. Win or Loose I love this map... it's such a challenge, and the atmosphere is just amazing. Big props to Magonushi for stepping up in the CO chair to guide the artillery and coordinate our assault. Artillery support was fantastic most of the round - they really did a good job clearing the hills to the north and helping us get up and over... Once mantis' squad broke through, most of our team spawned on shore, and I saw this as an opportunity to take the beach ("Outpost") flag. This flag is sooooo important for US because it spawns not one, but TWO M1A2 Abrams. We took an APC along the southern out-of-bounds line, and hit the beach. "Got Smoke?" was the name of our squad, and that's just what we did. We basically used the tactics Bane laid out in his post, moving quickly, and dropping smoke and ammo-packs like it's your job. With great medic work we ended up taking that flag, and securing the tanks for our side. From this point on, we defend outpost, while leaning on Lobby to the north and helping defend hotel to the west. I don't remember everyone in the squad, but I do remember some great medic work from Axis and davinci. I think Ristin was eng for this round and did a fantastic job riding shotgun in one of the tanks, wrenching constantly. Towards the end of the round Elmeistro was key in taking the Lobby flag when he stole the enemy APC and pretty much cleared the whole south side of the building of enemy infantry.
(Also big props to bane, pick, and ? lokka? - the arty squad - at least a couple times, they saved the day.. one really cool moment is when a full squad was high on the hill west of Outpost, raining down AT fire. I started to ask Mag for help with arty, but before I could, shell after shell started exploding along the ridgeline! It was a sight to behold...
)
anyway - GREAT games last night guys!! Thanks!!

Re: Excellent night of POE2
Fun round. I immensely enjoy manning the deck guns on that map; it's truly an art in itself. That was the 2nd time I've teamed up with lokka on the arty and helped pull out a USMC win. Although lokka has to learn that close arty support isn't supposed to be close enough to cause teamkills.
I started shelling the ridgeline when an attack marker showed up thanks to either lokka or Mag. That kind of support is exactly what arty is supposed to be used for. It's nice to see it called in because it helps us to zero in on enemy positions instead of firing blindly.
That's the third time I've played Snake Eyes in the past two weeks and USMC has won each time. I guess people are starting to learn to play the map instead of sitting around complaining. Still my favorite map.

I also gotta give props to my squad on Spies from Friday night. My squad members were DaVinci, Sumluv, Axis, Elmeistro, and Sgt Jafo. Our team had been on a losing streak all night so I didn't expect to win the round. However, I did expect to put up a fight to so it wouldn't be a blowout. I whipped my squad like redheaded stepchildren, keeping them on a tight rein while running them around to do what we could while the rest of our German team scattered. We lost by about 80 tickets but our squad turned out a solid performance of 650 points. Great job, fellas.

Re: Excellent night of POE2
This was one of the later rounds that turned into a real grind for the Germans early because we got stealth-flanked and gave up the back flags. That was one of my SL rounds and I need to recognize DaVinci, Elmeistro, Real_Stoned, Judge_Leo and Ristin for excellent squad play. These guys would get in the grinder, hammer it out, dig in and hold on. Considering how the early flags fell and the ominous feeling in the air during the middle of the round, the late rally was outstanding. Unfortunately we lost that round, but at least we knew we gave them a heck of a fight.
We started early at Mutherland as a Spec Ops squad and wreaked havok on the main road to all that passed. When the back flags started falling, we had to pull back cap Park and work from there.
The game took a serious bad turn for the Germans as we were all pushed to the westernmost flag by the windmills and we were getting hammered. The entire UKR was sitting on us with nowhere to go. Our only option there was to escape, live to fight another day and go flank around for a back flag. We then were able to regroup at Culdesac.
With Culdesac secure the Germans were able to take town again which also led a change in the tide. We started to gain some momentum and then this round turned into one big North/South grind in the middle alley. That was when it was the most fun.
At that point, our squad held Culdesac and floated to Town as need for the rest of the round. It is great to have a squad full of player that are hungry for action. Everything they went for, they got it, held it and defended it. Thanks to all of you guys. That late push was a lot of fun. Also enjoyed several other rounds last night as many of you have already outlined. It was great to play with so many different players who all had the intensity FULL ON last night.

Re: Excellent night of POE2
Yeah had fun on sunday great squad leading by Whisky and Axis. they do know what they need to have done and get it done. About Snakeyes.. i was told to hit the marker and keep hitting it so thats what i did :P so i wiped out a few good guys .. i got a few bad guys with them. Woot disposable troops! Solid hitting by Bane in the arty on snakeyes.. when i put up a hit point he hit it within 2 shots.
I really enjoyed the teamwork with Axis on Carpathian, Loved the defence he had us set up. I think it was bisclavet(sry if spelling is off) that went to play D&D :P he came back to help us win Snakeyes. Yes Mantis that was me that blew you up.. i'm surpirsed i didn't get atleast 1 teamkill with all the dudes running to defend the flag.
JB4 was awsome repairing the tanks on berezen Island even thought he would soon die from athe TLAM after repairing us.. almost like clockwork i might add!
I like to see servers play like that all the time!

Re: Excellent night of POE2
I had a great time last night as well. Rivne 16 was the highlight for me as I just love that version of the map. My T-Baggins squad did great and we defended well. I do wish we had been more agressive in taking back flags but I was afriad those dirty germans would steal my house!
Great times and great friends to play with.

Looks like I picked a fine night to miss out on...
As for Mullet's house, we still need some AC/DC posters on the walls in there! Maybe a bean-bag or two as well.OPS, the bacon is on you.

Berezan Island! I knew I had SL'd another one! Thanks for all the screenies, names and recaps guys. I forgot Ristin and Raubhamster, both of whom I had in squads, and deserved mention.
