    Al Kufrah (Jan 1, 2008)

What can I say...this was probably the best round of PR I had in MONTHS!

We (MEC) started out getting beat up something fierce. We didn't click as a team. Our armor was getting rocked, we were getting overrun at flags, and our commander at the time was scurrying around trying to get build orders made.
We were pushed back ALL the way to refinery and at this point I thought this was a goner! We had several Tanks and APC's shooting into the flag and no one could break out. I spawned in on the bunker there, and had two of my squaddies follow me. We had no transportation and it was likely that we were going to get mowed down by the armor in the middle of the desert. But this was not the case!

We broke hard east and stayed in the gully walking all the way to the Oil production flag. Put a rally down and attacked this flag. At this time our original CO left and we were left with no guidance. Also, our Armor finally got their stuff together and assisted in our assault on the flag.

We ended up capping and defending that flag most of the round, but another CO stepped up to the plate and got boots on the ground. We ended up capping Oil storage and our team had several Firebases and bunkers set up. We finally had them on the run and made several attempts to cap the village flag. We set a firebase and started attacking, but those damn brits are stubborn! We got close to their bunkers several times but got mowed down almost instantly with troops spawning every six nano seconds!

Now the tickets were almost even. Their tanks ended up destroying our FB and rally close to the Village flag and we also lost the production flag while attempting to cap the village. We spawned back at main and did several hard assaults on the flag but got wiped out. With the tickets virtually identical, the CO wanted us to hunker down and not get killed. I informed him that I still had a rally close to that flag and that he should give my squad one more shot. He allowed this, and we proceeded to attack...HARD! With the assistance of another Sq, we capped and secured.

Now the tickets were 20 and 20. No one did anything, both sides just seemed to stop. Both sides received more tickets for the FB's and bunkers. They made one final push onto the production flag, and with the assistence of AFSoccer's well placed C4 we took down 4 enemies. But they had tanks over watching us. We were pinned.

    Looked at the tickets again.

    10 and 9 MEC

    8 and 9 GB

    7 and 7 tie

    6 and 4 MEC

    4 and 2 GB

    3 and 1 GB

    3 and 0 GB

What a freaking awesome round. I hate losing...ALOT, but when you played such a tight round, it equals itself out.

Well done to everyone who played!

I concur with Dirtboy - this was an exciting round that started horribly for our team (MEC).

I joined after the round had started and joined a squad that was dysfunctional at best. It was composed of players mostly new to the mod, and the SL was not very competent. We were at Oil Storage (west CP) intially, got pushed back to Refinery. The British had a fire base just north of Storage that I managed to get C4'd down to it's base, but was killed before I could re-arm and finish the job. At this point, our SL left and I ended up being SL.

First order of business, get down our RP that we were lacking and rallied up the squad. We then went to work on re-taking Storage after finally finishing off that British fire base north of Storage. Tough fight, but with some assistance of another squad we finally broke through and capped it after taking out their fire base.

EXCITING MOMENT #1: British tank rolls right past our rally just west of Storage, doesn't see it, and our engineer and I chase it half way across the desert continually spotting it before it finally falls to our tanks. Holy crap that was fun!

I got a bunker built and fortified with some razor wire and sandbags. We held against a determined counter-attack, then pushed north to Village where we got a fire base down just south of Village behind the berms. Sustained British attack against the fire base resulted in the new CO ordering us to fall back to avoid further loses, and we repositioned to Production to the east to join up with Dirtboy's squad on capping and holding that position.

EXCITING MOMENT #2: After receiving orders to abandon the fire base, we loaded up in a vodnik and were getting to leave when we see Turkish and Ferris still there fighting. Turkish says "Go on without me, I'll only slow you down!"* LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND!!! I ordered the squad out to assist our comrades, killed several more British and finally we abandoned once Turkish was down (and I think Ferris got disconnected or CTD??). Hey - we're not fighting for our country, we fight for the guys next to us!!!!

What started as looking completely hopeless and frustrating turned out to be a very exciting and close round, and was a great deal of fun.

Lesson: a little leadership goes a long way in PR. If you are new to SL, don't be afraid to admit it and ask for guidance. Listen to your troops and consider their advice, and by all means everyone work together! Thanks to the player who stepped up to be CO - he really pulled it together for us! I wish I had his name - forgot to take a screenshot.

I do believe that was the round where me and turkish went on a vodnik rampage and ran over or 50 cal'd at least 20 people in less than 10 minutes before I CTD. Would have liked to have seen the end of the round though!

    CTD'd ?

That was the map when you and Turkish came to village at 3:3 and tried to blow up our bunker.
I killed you both, what won us the round !

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.
