AAR: 1/7 - POE: A Welcome Home ~23:15 - 01:16 EST
After a non-vacation at the in-laws, last night saw my return to gaming. After getting pummeled in the year 2142, I decided to try my hand at POE. That had to be my best decision of the night.
Round 1 - Assault On OdessaHard liquor sounded good so I hitched a ride in the 5th's own cptCuervo. Joining us was the 12th's jb4, Jimmy_Jr, Ristin, & thagoat. We spawned "Apartment Building" and headed out to take "Housing". When we got to the flag, the USMC had already moved on. We capped the flag a set a defense. All was going well until Whiskey showed up in a tank. Whiskey's tank kept us tied up long enough for his squad to take us down. We spawned on the flag and recovered it for a time. This time the USMC brought more armor that spelled our doom.Round 2 - Dnipro
We spawned at "Junk Yard" and repeatedly tried to make our way back to Housing. Armor resistance and persistent sniping made the road dividing Odessa a death trap. We successfully got the SL across once and momentarily capped the flag before being thrown back.
"Junk Yard" fell under fire and we were forced to stay and defend. After repelling the attack on the flag we set a defense forward of the flag and attempted to intercept the enemy's approach.
This defense concluded the round with the UKR winning 65-0
Shameless contentRound 3 - Raid On Kerch
Followed an unknown SL to "AA Nest" and defended it. We got knocked off the flag a number of times and finally lost the flag near the end of the round. We lost, but I still had fun knocking some Hind's out of the sky.

For this one, I decided to SL. Following me to victory was newmilleniumchrist, the 12th's jb4, thagoat, bucky_fn_dent, & rich73. I instructed the squad to spawn in at "Slums" and defend. The initial landing brought a fully loaded Little Bird. We repelled the attack and were feeling pretty good. Our team lost "Keep" and we turned our attention to it for the impending ground assault. An assault came and was repelled. A squad attempted to flank us on the SW by landing a boat, that too was repelled.
Our team retook Keep, but lost "Distribution Center" at the same time. We began to turn our attention to that direction when an attack came from the NW. Fierce fighting ensued on our West and a few attackers slipped in the front door to neutralize the flag. The invaders were swiftly dealt with and the flag secured. We were able to quell the resistance on the NW and went about re-setting our defense.
A few times, the choppers dropped some troops on the roofs to our NE. These grenade chucking annoying "nats" were pretty easy to deal with and thanks to revives, not to costly on tickets. One poor troop was dropped on the roof of the "Slums" only to fall victim to the BF2 game engine. All I can say is, do not go prone unless you want your feet to stick through walls. This made for a nice comical kill.
Our team traded "Keep" & "Distribution" a few times during the round, but the "Slums" never fell. Great job squad! UKR wins 143-0.

Your squad was battling my inherited one on Odessa. We wanted to move up but you guys kept hitting that backflag. Eventually we just stayed there to defend but the rest of the team couldn't take another flag near the end.

Man, SAITCHO was owning once again in a tank on Odessa. That was the most fun I've had on Odessa in a while. Good times.

draeh, those were very competitive rounds and I enjoyed them very much.
Assault on Odessa
In Cuervo's squad we had a lot of action at Housing and that flag never really seemed "secure" for either side. When we started working from Junkyard we were having a heck of a time moving north. Between the squad that was spawning at the crane and attacking Junkyard and Whiskey's defensive tank driving on the tracks near Housing, we were in the middle of it. I really enjoy it when a squad sticks together, keeps communicating and grinds it out.
Dnipro
I joined up with Ristin and had some fun in the Tiger but our good time was spoiled by Ishotcha doing attacking loop de loops in a plane near AA nest and then Magonushi on a Hind RAGE followed up by Mantis spraying down AA near town. We decided to get out of the helo and go harrass Mantis and company at the town. Project did a nice job as roaming spec ops on the southside for defense. I decided to go sniper and harass Mantis which was fun for a few minutes until you realize that if you get him riled up your are just going to get spanked. I think he parked a Dozer on my head to make his point. lol
Raid on Kerch
I had a great time in that squad. Everybody quickly followed your orders, kept communicating, spotting, and supporting each other. We repelled several attacks from all directions in that round. I am sure it is not the first time it had happened, but it was the first time I had seen infantry get dropped on the building overlooking Slums. Annoying at first because it seemed to keep a flow of enemy troops coming into the area, but we adjusted and kept them at bay. Through sticking together, were were able to hold off some good attacks by some tough squads. I am glad to see that we are having more battles like these on the the server lately. It is also great to see how many new faces are sticking with it and becoming quality players. Good stuff.Last edited by jb4; 01-09-2008 at 03:17 PM. Reason: sp

Yeah the LB droping guys off on teh roofs was me.. and many times i missed and dropped my squad to their death but we kept going back cuz we were laughing so hard i couldn't tell them we need a new spot :P
The team defending slums did a great job near the end with rockets keeping my squad down.
