I wanted to say thanks to the SL's and other members of the USMC side yesterday for letting me take command towards the end of the map.
I first signed on, and was in squad 1, as we were heading to west city, Skud was the SL and at the time there were bunkers and firebases setup but no commander, about ten minutes in skud had to leave and then i starting lagging out and actually crashed to desktop just as me and another member of my squad found a Firebase in the F5? area. As I was re-booting up, i was thinking that it was becoming frustrating, because it seemed that east city was going to be overrun and though EJOD is my favorite map next to fools road on the rotation maybe i should just sit out and wait for a few maps to pass, but then i figured, if i could log back in and be on the US side, maybe i could command and tell the other guys where that FB was and we could take it out and go on from there. I am glad I chose to log back and, and I am glad that I was able to command. It was interesting, and very fast paced, much more so than I thought it would be. (I commanded once on Kashan a week or so ago but resigned after getting hit by mini gun fire at the main i still don't understand why players shoot the mini guns at the main base, and after having some poor communication from a non mic using SL in a tank squad and from being shot at from other people in a support truck), never the less I am glad I was able to command toward the last half of the map. We were able to take out the FB, and re-organize. SL of Squad 4, dave jones? Thank you for taking the helm after East City was made neutral and holding ruins. Squad 2, the APC squad M.warren and i forgot your gunner thank you, for putting down fire on west city and helping out squad 4, as well as destroying the other MEC FB that was setup after I was able to deploy a quick FB east of Ruins that quickly came under fire. Miracously we won by a score of 88-0...it was fierce and very fast paced. I had a semi saving private ryan moment (the scene on the beach right after Tom Hanks' character is disorientated and the soldier says "what the hell are we supposed to do know sir!") At first my answer was "hold on i don't know its my first time being CO on this map." and then after the APC squad told me they were going to put fire down on west city, and after squad 4 was going to hold ruins i was able to redirect squad 3, and 5 to east city, and get some extra armor support on the east hills as well as hold down fire on west city with support of Squads 7 and 9 who were in tanks. It was awesome, and crazy, and frustrating, but all in all a lot of fun. I am glad i took the chance and commanded. and even though we lost the FB east of the ruins, I am glad I decided to put up a bunker at the gas station. Thanks to the SL's for having patience with me etc, it was a lot of fun. Now I am hoping to develop some sort of plan for EJOD so the next time I command whether its a the begining or the middle I can jump and not hesitate so much. Tim Aka BHD Delta*RandyShugart* |

Re: Thanks to the USMC side yesterday on EJOD Desert
I believe you were commanding the USMC on Qwai river during yesterday's password night?
Holy crap, man. I don't know what you were doing, but the US was ripping us apart for most of the match, even though we had the ticket lead. That was easily the most frustrating match I've ever been on the winning side of. The defenses at the mine were nearly impossible to breach, even once we dropped a JDAM on them. The front entrance was a deathtrap, the side entrance was a deathtrap... between the humvees ripping us up with the 50 cals and the infantry, we couldn't get up the hills, and the combination of AA, APC, and infantry crawling all over the mine never failed to flatten my squad. I was carting around heavy AT to hit the defenses with, and had some pretty epic runs that had me going down in a hail of gunfire with only half a pistol magazine left, but for the most part all I could do was keep my head down and hope another goddamned hummer hadn't flanked us. Was disposable and his squad one of the ones defending that place? Whoever it was, they were doing a fantastic job, concentrating their firepower and advancing on just the right places at just the right time, and hammering us with supressing fire. I am simultaneously burning for vengeance and dumbstruck with awe. Regardless, that was a fantastic match for both sides, even if it was incredibly frustrating too. Very good teamwork and coordination on the US side, and Dirtboy did a great job commanding the PLA side. I don't think we are ever off the offense on that map, even if that offense was pretty fruitless once we hit mine. |

They held that down tighter than <insert example/pun here>, i just gave the build orders and gave them LB mini gun support when needed. Though we lost the match they were the reasons why it didn't end sooner and I soon found out after it was Dirtboy commanding on the other team, So technically I am glad I did so well against dirt. And nardini driving through our main without firing frustrated me severely as i was almost killed by a friendly LB. Even though its a few weeks after this was an amazing/intense battle that still is clear in my mind.
