Definately a very fun scrim, even though a very long one. I guess that the latest scrims [where the opposition basically have been steamrolled within a relative short time] have created quite some confidence. I dont know about you, but I was certainly not prepared nor expecting a 3h scrim. Still, it was very interesting from the perspective that battles actually raged back and forward at certain locations.

![]() It might sound a bit strange, but the fact that you had the courage to hold the IFV back, and in cover, despite that fighting was going was something that impressed me. The situational awareness to protect assets during a tight and stressed situation, so to speak.

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
After watching 6 hours of BFR, I am still amazed on the level of teamwork we accomplished. I am now making a video of the scrim...so expect it in about a day or two

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
Interdiction Squad:
Goat was too hard on himself in the live AAR. He did a great job managing the tank, my connection problems, the spawn issues, and keeping the AA up. Goat moved us efficiently and effectively and tried his best to give us the advanatge with terrain and strength. I thought he did a superb job at keeping the armor, mobile aa and the inf aware of everything going on. Due to his leadership and performance, our squad performed better that I had expected. I think we took a brunt of the beating, as the Opfor realized that there was only one squad near village. Once they found us, unfortunately we were armor bait. The Opfor did a good job of moving INF and Armor together, which often times led to our demise. I was actually more impressed with our resilience towards the end in the back and forth battle over village. At one point we snuck up and around the Mobile AA and eliminated it. Once this was down, it made our life much easier to move and engage the enemy. Zaboo and Superfast did an excellent job with the Tank and I suspect they caused more havoc than they realize. Hats off to Johnnydube and Carpface who were excellent squadmates. They kept the tank up and enemy air assets off our backs. Overall I was very impressed with our performance and I only wish it had been even teams.

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
Qinling, British - "INTERDICT"
|TG-6th|eGoatBoy, |TG-6th|Bc2ID, |TG-E1st|Superfast, |TG|ZaBoo, CarpfacePR, jOHNNYdOUBE A huge shout-out to our team, our CO, my squad, and to the OpFor coalition guys who stuck it out and gave us such a good fight (I recall at one point one of their guys in chat apologising for their deteriorating force). Many thanks to Carpface for stepping in to IRS_Agents role perfectly as well. >> Highlights << I appreciate the comment, and after some reflection I agree...I was frustrated at the end of the game for problems I had and mistakes I made (read angry with myself)...but looking back, my squad did their job, did what I asked them to do, and did it well. Our roll-out went well with only one glitch. Carpface (our H-AT man) had trouble spawning in and so we had a short delay rolling out of Farm. He was driving with me and Bc2ID in the support truck. Johhny in the AA and Zaboo/Superfast in the Challenger got going right away and got to our AOR efficiently. I was really pleased in the pre-round to see how my squad formed up nicely to review the roll-out details. Thanks for that guys. Once we got rolling everything went per plan for at least 30 minutes or more...which is amazing really. Our killer-tank duo pounded the OpFor west across the lake and were really a big reason why the squads KDR was great for the beginning half of the game. Bc2ID was all over the place as I had him mining, repairing, building, and fighting. I'm not sure if Carpface got a chance to engage armor south of Village or not as I don't recall seeing much coming that way. Eventually the PLA snuck infantry onto our little peninsula which brought the fight in from 300m distant to 3m distant. It was kinda funny at one point as I was trying to get Carpface and Bc2ID to flank some PLA coming to us and ordered them to engage the infantry. Carpface noted that he only had a pistol I told him to draw their fire while Bc2ID flanked...he had a little bigger gun. I actually died myself a bunch of times working as infantry support for our armor and being too exposed while spotting out OpFor by Village...snipers mostly I think.Once our firebase in E5 was down our squads ops then moved north and north-west for most of the remainder of the game. Seemed we spent most of our time hunting armour in hills and working incursions into Village. That's when a lot of the dying started. Once we were on the west side of the river it got a lot harder ![]() We did manage to do some work in Village and in the hills however, and I think I missed seeing first hand alot of the good stuff my guys did because I was regularly watching my spawn counter By this time things were pretty much in control for our team as we had a solid lead and our OpFor was dropping members (although I did notice they got a bunch ofguys back at one point). He gave me a move order down into C6. Also, I never heard him say we were going to bleed them out (see my notes on comms below). As we moved south it looked to me that the team was moving in for a cap out. So my guys did exactly what I asked them to do and we went into the main. Our tankers wrought much destruction, but I managed to kill Johhny and Bc2ID by driving our landrover into what could only be described as "out of bounds quicksand"...it was really weird, and unrecoverable. So, my apologies to AFsoccer and the team for the insubordination, and my kudos to the squad for their fidelity! >> Communications << I had a really bad time trying to follow the comms traffic. A couple people in my squad had low voip volumes, I had my teamspeak up too loud (I heard more of Dirtboy than anyone else), and I regularly confused Nardini's voice for AFsoccer I think all SLs had to contend with this but it really messed me up. At one point I switched my TS channel into 'pr coordination 2' so I could talk to AFsoccer clearly, and then didn't put myself back in the right channel until AFsoccer twigged to it and mentioned it too me. I was messing around with my TS volume as well trying to get a level that would work...but in the end, the only person I ever heard clearly and consistently was Dirtboy. This was uber-frustrating for me, and I called numerous times to the squad to "clear the channel", asked guys to repeat their messages, and simply missed comms altogether from AFsoccer. It just overwhelmed me a bit trying to follow the chatter and fight at the same time. Whenever AFsoccer gave me a command via the UI ('attack here', 'move here' etc.) it was a huge relief for me because it was totally unambiguous. >> Lessons Learned << Follow orders. Mute Dirtboy on TS. ![]() Don't get so angry at myself. ![]() Cheers,

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
I thought you did a commendable job Disposable, I was thinking all the way through I was glad it wasn't me SL'ing, with all the comms going on you did a grand job.
It was my first scrim and I have to say it was great, I loved seeing the tactics and plans come together on the battlefield, with jets being called in and all that shiz. Excellent. I look forward to the next, shame we can't have one every couple of nights. And it was a shame that people started leaving, but there you go, I still had fun.

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
Let me start this AAR with a HUGE thank you to everyone that played in Saturday's scrim. As everyone said above, the teamwork that I saw yesterday was enough to put tears in my eyes!
AAR: Sq 1: Nardini did an amazing job... from destroying their runway, bombing enemy assets, and shooting down their jets, we could not have been successful if it hadn't been for the great coordination between Nardini and the ground pounders! Sq 2: Ferris and Turkish filled a very important role by bombing targets when Nardini was busy or reloading. They also did a great job taking out enemy infantry on at least two occasions (once when Sq 3 had an onslaught of infantry attacking them and another when we had infantry trying to attack our firebase). They also provided ground support and a little spec ops on top of that. Sq 3: Goatboy's squad did a great job holding the north line, which was important to the overall strategy. They also provided just enough of an annoyance to the enemy at Village that OpFor could never drop their guard. When it came time to attack Village, they did a great job attacking the hills and dealing with enemy AA, so that Sq 4 could work on capping the flag. Sq 4: A rough start with some vehicle issues (LOL), but Disposable didn't try to hide that fact and relayed their set-back to me. I immediately asked Sq 5 to send in a few troops to supplement Disposable's (the ones that hadn't been run over yet). They did a great job staying down in the Coal Mine and covering some of the west side. When the time came to attack Village, Disposable decided to move north first and approach from the NW. I think this was a good move, however by the time he got there we were getting overrun at the firebase and the enemy was starting to attack Coal Mine in force. I made the decision that our window of opportunity to attack Village had closed and that we were going back to "Phase 1." He didn't complain one bit and quickly reorganized his squad. Luckily about 30 minutes later we were able to send his squad into Village and they captured it. Sq 5: Delta*RandyShugart*'s squad may of had one of the more difficult jobs because they had to perform a wide variety of functions. Not only did they have to defend Coal Mine, but they had to repair Sq 6's tanks, keep the firebase up, provide AA support, and laze targets. They did a great job. I also want to thank Nero for stepping up to the SL position when Shuggart got disconnected for awhile. It would have been easy for the squad to get too drawn out, but Shuggart did a good job at keeping track of where everyone was. Although they lost Mine once, they quickly grouped up together and had it back within 5 minutes, so great job. They were also very helpful in getting Chinese FOB. Sq 6: Wow, these guys were the premier tank squad. Portable.Cougar's guys impressed me a lot during this scrim as they always seemed to be in the right position. Portable was amazing at using communication to our benefit and quickly moved his tanks into an advantageous position after receiving intel about enemy tank movement. Wickens did a great job keeping them repaired and Disciple was a diligent Mobile AA crewman. Sq 7: Last but not least, our Spec Ops squad was even more critical than I thought to our overall success. Dirtboy and his crew basically locked down the south part of the map. They mined Chinese FOB, destroyed the enemy bunker, sniped enemy ground troops, reported armor movement, and did an amazing job of lazing targets and coordinating air strikes! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I knew you guys did an awesome job, and now that I've spent about three hours watching the Battlerecorder, I realize you did even better than amazing! I captured a few screen shots that I thought were indicative of the teamwork and skill of our TG members. There were tons I could have captured, but these should give you an idea... Okay, this isn't a very "exciting" photo, but I wanted to say that everyone did a great job with the roll-out phase, and this photo of Sq 5 shows that. Note the Mobile AA escorting it. Squads quickly acquired the vehicles that were assigned to them, stayed together, and were on location before the enemy had time to move in. Speaking of moving quickly, Nardini was able to fly to their main base and destroy their runway just as their J-10 was about to throttle up for take-off! Not only did this slow them down, I'm sure it shook their morale right at the beginning. As mentioned above, Nardini did terrific in all aspects of his job, as these photos show. The first is him releasing a bomb on an enemy target. The second is him chasing the enemy J-10. This shot is another example of our awesome teamwork, as you can see Nero lining up his Shoulder AA on the J-10 as Nardini chases him. With a constant tone from the AA and Nardini hot on his tail, the J-10 was eventually taken down by Nardini's air-to-air missile... All the while, Goatboy's squad diligently held down the north flank. You can see him spotting enemy targets while his tank moves into position. Sq 6 shows us how's it done as they set up a cross-fire situation that the enemy tank drives right into. It had no chance as Portable's squad opens fire. End result: two enemy tanks detroyed and no loss of friendly assets. Awesome work from our engineers and entire support team (engineers, AA, medics, ammo guys, etc.). A.Wickens, onit, and skylark worked great as a team to get our tanks up to full strength quickly. Speaking of support teams, our forward deployed spec ops troops did AMAZING. This is Dirtboy and Blonov spotting a tank that was just passing by FOB. Having this kind of advanced notice on troop movement was critical to getting counter measures in place. This is the same tank about a minute later, after FerrisBueller and TurkishDelight deployed a laser seeking missile that locked on to Dirtboy's laser. And here is another tank that Blonov lasered and the Apache boys finished off. And don't think that the OPFOR didn't put up a fight. This is a photo of one of their spec ops guys spotting our British Air Base. With only a brief lapse in defense, the ISF squad was able to slip into Coal Mine and take the flag, but Squad 5 moved in quickly to neutralize the threat. Skylark didn't mess around as you'll see in the next few photos. Skylark sets a C-4 charge at the rear door to the building ISF was hiding in. Then he proceeds to clear the building... leaving nothing in his wake! Notice the great back up support from p.vicious.... ensuring that if skylark had died that he could finish the job. And when the enemy tried to overtake Sq 3's position, a quick call to the CO brought fire from above as Ferris and Turkish moved in to take-out an enemy LAT that thought he could hide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks again for everyone's contribution. Also, for those that signed up for reserves, I want to thank you too. I wish we could have used everyone!

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
Great pics Soccer! Simply awesome! The enemy who was spotting out our main, was unfortunately killed after Turkish saw him, grabbed a sniper, and put a .338 round in his midsection. Poor guy didnt expect that!

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
Rofl at least you didnt get kicked for idling, I was sitting so patiently in my AA that I didnt even relise I hadnt moved in like half hour so the server booted me. I had to spawn back at main and run the length of the battlefield to reach my AA again.

Re: QinLing Scrim Results
This was my first scrim ever, and I'm happy to report that I had an absolute blast. I had never liked Qinling, in fact I had loathed it. The sheer immensity had always intimidated me I guess. But thanks to AFsoccer's concrete layout, his leadership, eGoatboy's leadership, as well as the cohesiveness of our squad, I never felt like I was without an objective. Although said objectives never stayed the same for Squad 3, I still felt that we were really making a difference for the team, which I guess describes the essence of TG. I really had fun, so thanks to all of you. On top of that, I'd like to personally thank Ferris for taking the weight of the Apache off my shoulders (not literally!).
