After action

Great games tonight gents in the TG scrim, 4 hours well spent.

Best moment: Kerch round 2 as USMC, stealing an AKS and turning anything that came through the south west Slums entrance into human Emmantal. :P

Worst moment: Dnipro, and Mantis in that damn hind. :P

Post up.

Re: After action

Was indeed a fun scrim. Lots of fun, blood and bullets. I suggest for the next one to skip on asset heavy maps since it takes too much strategy to organize properly. The first round of kerch was the best round of the lot. Looking foward for the next one.

Nah...thats the whole point of scrims. You'll have fully reliable squads and assets at your disposal to command around the battlefield. On those Dnipro rounds our team for the most part still had that. If our CO wanted me in the chopper somewhere I went there. Tanks were available in the same fashion.

Re: After action

Didnt worked out on our side....we had both choppers and plane on the airstrip about 80% of the time on the second round. Not much we could do to defend against air units.

That's just because we were down a few guys, and those guys happened to be our pilots- It's completely true that I would have loved to be able to field a completely organized Mech Unit, but we just didn't have that luxury. As it was, we did a much better job in that second round of Dnipro: still a loss, but for having no comparable pilot and being down a few, I was proud of how we did.

Even though I don't care about flying, and even though I prefer infantry to armor, I still find the heavy-unit aspect of the game to be pretty thrilling when it works out right.

Re: After action

Ya I don't understand why you guys didn't get someone in the Eurofighter at round start after what I did with the Eurotiger the previous round. You had to know the situation would repeat itself with the Hind. Once Namebot got in there I was getting scared off plenty but by then it was too late.

Re: After action

Well worth the effort I'd say, even though I wasn't one of the ones who did a lot. Big thanks to Mantis, Khaerus and Project for doing a lot of the organization and set-up. I had a really good time in the CO chair, and apart from some squirrelly last-minute squad mix-n-match, all the rounds were pretty fun.

This was scrimming at a B-grade level though, imho. It's even better when strats, practices and planning occur before in preparation, and everyone shows up on game day for the whole thing! So in other words, let's do this again!

Shameless 'woot' content:
Dnipro, Team Green Manalishi playing UKR:

Kirch, Team Green Manalishi playing USMC:

Sorry, didn't get any other score screens. This was the first scrim that the Irregulars POE platoon played in, and almost all of us were there, so congrats!

Re: After action

The advantage of infantry maps is no one can truly turn the tide by himself, and not as much planning is needed. On those air map, air superiority is a fragile balance and it can favor one side pretty easily and then all the thrills of a good close round dissapear. I suggest crimea for next scrim. This is a map where coordination is important for a successful landing and there is only a limited number of assests.

Re: After action

First off, props to Khaerus, Project, and mantis for getting this thing off the ground! I was dizzy w/ last minute roster changes as we scrambled to get things going. (Also, thanks to sawviper for taking over as SL when I dropped out 30 seconds before the first round started)

Second, apologies for dropping after round 1. The kids started freaking out and el wifo is sick as a dog = take care of the kids or die.

C - I generally agree w/ axis that it didn't feel much like a scrim.... I think we definitely need to do this again soon!! Next time, let's make sure we give ourselves more than few days with the TC forums so we can spend some time on strats.... IMO, that's the best part of the scrims!! I love doing ATC sessions and brainstorming tactics!!

Yep...thanks guys! It was definitely a lot of fun.

Thanks as well to the guys I had the pleasure of doing SL for. Most of them stuck around for the full 4 hours and did a great job!

Re: After action

Yep!! It sure was nice to have a bunch of Irregs in game today. I love you all soooo much!! *sniff*,,,*sniff*,,,Zippy did a great job of re-supply! I was impressed!

Everyone that was in my squad or Axis squads did a fantastic job of calling out enemy and spotting tanks. I seem to remember a full squad going down against my APC at town. Good spot egoatboy!
