Great flying Liquid. His F-16 gave us quite a hard time in the skies. Flying the Frogfoot for our team, MEC gained small 10-20 ticket leads at times when Ghost Dog managed to get a laser on a group of armor for me. I'd like to know who the US tank crews were. It was a good round for both sides, I loved it.

One armor squad consisted of NerdyDodge with FeistyCattle (me), and Masterjack with StevieRay. The other was fuzzhead, though I do not remember who was in his squad. It might have been my armor squad you encountered, but I think you were using rockets and the gun on the frogfoot to kill us, not bombs.

I underline the effort both imnotacanadian and charity putted planning out this game to if there was a ribbons called planning strategy, you guys would deserve it. You did an excellent job in bringing this strategy together. Now i sure blame myself for mixing march 29 and march 30 for visiting apartments (i tough the scrim was sunday lol).

Then again my hat to you

I have to say, when that Frogfoot came down and took out those two tanks at once everyone seemed to stop fighting and look right at you barreling down, it was epic! Props to my squad 3; Skud, Cola, UKWarrior, and Boris.T.Spider. You guys adapted very quickly considering Skud and Cola were the only guys originally in the squad, amazing job guys! Props to UKWarrior especially for being my personal medic, I know you weren't too thrilled about being medic, especially in a scrim by yourself, but you did great!

    Re: PR Internal Scrimage 3/29

Normally I don't even play that map any more, just burned out on it, but WOW that was a good game.

To the guy above that said he lost the APC at south Village, that was me with the HAT. I actually lost count how many APCs, Tanks, AA, and Humvees I got. Pretty much every Humvee that came to attack South Bunker got a HAT suprise. I actually kept the HAT the entire round till the last 15 mins., when someone else got it before I could spawn in.
I have never had a 30+ kill round with only 8 deaths, and 5 of those deaths came in the last 15 mins.

But even with that said, I have to take a bow to Turkish. I could not have done any of that without him dropping me ammo crates. He was spot on, and really came in under fire to get me the ammo. Also had Pancho watching my back with the sniper rifle the 1st part of the map. Thanks guys.

I do have to apoligize big time to my squad, led by Egoatboy, as well. There was a hummer running through the tank trap at south Bunker, and I fired the HAT at it, and somehow took out my entire squad instead. Sorry about that guys.

    Overview

We will take advantage of our proximity to South Village to fight a delaying action at that flag for as long as possible to allow us to gain control of the bunker complex and force the MEC to commit as many heavy assets as possible to the south. I want to dictate the terms of the battle to the MEC on this one, so we are going to force them to immediately alter their plans (I hope) and react to our strong defense of South Village. We will seize the initiative in this fight and hold it.

The plan will have 4 separate phases that will be enacted and are described below.

    Phase I

    Objective:

The goal for Phase I is to disrupt the MEC advance on South Village and prevent them from capping it for as long as possible. It must not fall into MEC hands prior to us capturing North Village for us to be successful during the scrimmage. If we are a little lucky, we can get the bunkers captured or at least establish as strong foothold there prior to their taking South Village.

    Plan: South Village

We are going to commit several armored assets and a couple of squads to defending South Village during Phase I.

I want the following squads to spawn at South Village:

    Squad 1 – MECHANIZED
    Squad 3 – VILLAGE

Squad 1 will get two squad members into the APC and immediately transport Squad 3 to the ambush site depicted. The APC should deploy it’s ammo and position itself off to the side of the road in a position where it can ambush any CO trucks approaching South Village.

The SL of Squad 1 and his two remaining squad members shall establish a rally point for the squad in a protected position and await the arrival of the CO truck from US Outpost to construct a fire base. It is imperative to deploy an AA position from the firebase in a position where it can be used with effect against any transport choppers that attempt to approach South Village.

Squad 3 will deploy en masse to the ambush site and deploy their rally there. I suggest that members of the squad spawn as either engineers or riflemen with ammo (plus a medic) and grab their specialty kits from the rally after they dismount the APC near the ambush site.

Squad 3 is to hold their position for as long as possible, ambushing any enemy CO vehicles and supporting the APC. They should fall back to village if their position is overrun, using the fire base as their spawn point. There will be a H-AT kit and a MANPAD kit available from the firebase for Squad 3.

    Plan: US Outpost

I want the following squads to spawn at US Outpost:

    Squad 4 – ARMOR I
    Squad 5 – ARMOR II
    Squad 6 – CAS
    Squad 8 – Engineer

The idea is to get as many of our armor assets out of US Outpost as possible and get them in to the field. If we don’t make use of all of them initially they will most likely sit and not be used as it is going to be difficult to get back to them later.

With that in mind, and the fact that our jets will not spawn for the first 20 minutes of the match, I am assigning both APCs at US Outpost to the CAS squad to help support the effort at South Village and provide over-watch. Yep, I want 1-man APCs. Get yourselves in the hills above South Village and provide overwatch. If either one or both are still working when we need you elsewhere, we’ll give them to Squad 1 as reserves.

Squad 4 and Squad 5 shall take their 4 tanks north to assist in the capture of North Village and engage and destroy the MEC armor. This will not be an easy assignment as the MEC may very well bring all 4 tanks to the North Village on their initial deployment. You can have your extra squad members either spawn with you as engineers or wait it out at the airfield for the mobile AA to spawn in – your call as SL.

Squad 8 will spawn both engineers. One will take the CO truck to South Village to allow us to construct a fire base and the other will drive one of the 2 humvees to South Village. Once there they will assist in the construction of the fire base before moving on to their next assignment. Once the fire base is built, the engineers will leave immediately in their humvee to the north to assist our tanks.

    Plan: Airfield

I want the following to spawn at the airfield

    Squad 2 – ASSAULT
    Squad 7 – AIR CAV
    CO

Squad 2 will take the H-AT assigned to them and their CO truck (pick one) and deploy as far to the north as they can to avoid MEC armor. It will be tricky, but the goal is to get your squad into the bunker complex via the east entrance and establish a fire base in the designated position. If for whatever reason we fail in this portion of the plan, Squad 2 is to respawn at the airfield, regroup, and take a second CO truck to assault North Village if it has not been capped already.

Squad 7 is going to be bored until the blackhawks spawn. He’ll be pretty busy after that.

I will be deploying our CP and getting ready to move a CO truck to North Village for phase 2.

    Phase II

    Objective:

Once we have disrupted the initial MEC push in to South Village, taken out the enemy armor to the north, and, hopefully, establish a fire base in the bunkers, we will begin the second phase of our plan.

The objective of Phase II is to capture North Village and do it ASAP, and get reinforcements into the bunkers. We also hope to get our planes in the air and at the same time deny the enemy the usage of the airspace over the bunkers.

    Plan:

We will start this phase by beginning a partial withdrawal from South Village. Squad 3 will use one of the humvees that spawn on the fire base there as transport. I need Squad 3 to destroy our fire base at South Village before withdrawing, as we will be constructing a new one in the hills to the east of the bunkers. The AA emplacement at South Village must also be destroyed – this is critical!

Squad 1 will continue to defend South Village with their APC(s) to the best of their ability until ordered to withdraw by the CO.

Squad 2 will attempt to establish control of the bunker complex. This will seem like a daunting task, but my hope is that our initial delaying action and the size of the forces committed to defending South Village will cause the MEC team to have to overcompensate by withdrawing a squad or two toward South Village to assist in taking it. If things get really hairy there, I will have Squad 1 abandon South Village entirely and just spawn on the fire base at the bunkers to assist in assaulting the bunkers.

At North Village, Squad 3 (VILLAGE) will move in to capture with the assistance of our armor. Squad 8 (ENGINEERS) will repair our tanks and get them ready to move back into the field to watch over the bunker complex.

Squad 4 and Squad 5 will mop up the enemy armor and assist in taking North Village. Once combat has ceased, they will get repairs from Squad 8.

The CO will bring a CO truck to North Village to construct our first bunker so the tanks can re-arm before deploying to their next area of coverage.

The last phase of this plan is probably the most important. I will need the AIR CAV squad to help us establish a fire base at the designated location in the hills overlooking the bunkers from the east. I have scouted the area and the map showing it’s location is provided. We will use the ability to build using 2 supply crates to accomplish this. Since we have only 1 pilot in AIR CAV we will need to get started while we are still capping North Village. Hopefully the timing is right so that AIR CAV can pick up squad 3 from North Village on the second trip to the fire base location.

This fire base will be used to help us control the air space over the bunkers as we will be deploying an AA position once it is constructed. Squad 3 will move from this position to the bunkers to assist in taking down both of those flags once completed. There will be a Spec Ops kit reserved for one member of Squad 3 from this fire base to assist in spotting enemy armor assets for CAS if so desired by the SL, otherwise we will not have a designated spotter and this will be left to the individual SL who need CAS.

Once the objectives for Phase 2 are met and CAS is airborne we begin Phase 3.

    Phase III

    Objective:

During Phase III we will take control of the skies and capture the bunkers flags as the MEC forces are scattered trying to compensate for our holding South Village.

The red circles are my lame attempt to show AA coverage. The idea is to cut the map in half at least and give our aircraft a safe orbit zone on the north half of the map so that they are close to where all of the action is going to be.

    Plan

If everything goes perfectly, which I’m 100% positive it will not, Squad 1 will still be fighting a desperate delaying action at South Village. By this time, the MEC armor reinforcements will probably get close to spawning at their airfield. Regardless, I want Squad 1 to continue their defense/delay until they have either been taken out or we are in a position to have them begin capping the flag.

The armor will move into position to defend the bunkers from counter-assault by MEC armor and to assist our infantry that will be slugging it out with the MEC infantry for control of those bunkers. I would like Squad 4’s tanks to provide over-watch on the bunkers from the west while Squad 5’s tanks also take up position on the west side of the bunkers and protecting the south flank of Squad 4’s tanks, watching for MEC armor reinforcements. We’ll have to see how our initial armor engagements go and what we have left for tanks.

Regardless of the armor over-watch, if we have one, it is going to be up to Squad 2 and Squad 3 to get in to the bunkers to begin taking control. We will play this by ear, but ideally both squads will work together to neutralize one bunker and then we will move one of the two out to the other bunker while the other defends. If Squad 1 has been driven off of South Village they will bring an APC from the airfield to assist in taking the bunkers.

Hopefully by now our mobile AA has spawned. Squads 4 and 5 will have their squad member designated for the mobile AA retrieve the vehicles and bring them to position to cover the tanks and bunkers where the can also be protected by the tanks.

The engineer squad will be available to repair tanks, but we also are going to want them to get over to MEC Outpost to ensure that there aren’t any assets remaining there for the MEC to use. Hopefully they’ve left some toys behind for the engineers to experiment on. They may have a bunker constructed there, so we will scout for that as well and take it out if possible.

Ideally, we’d like to be able to capture both bunkers without usage of our JDAM. I’d like to save that to drop on either South Village or MEC outpost. The remainder of the match we will play by ear and react to the situations as they present themselves.

    Here's more

Ok, here's the bottom line. We've all played this map about ten thousand times. We know what it takes to win. The only part of the plan I am adamant about us sticking to is the defense of South Village. I want to mess them up badly in the first 5 minutes of the map, and committing forces to stop them from even getting close and bringing 3 APCs into the area to fight should be overwhelming to them. If we can get them off balance and off their plan right from the get-go then we will mop them up - I'm extremely confident in that. I have confidence in our tank crews to get the job done on their initial wave and get control of the map for us to go to work in those first 20 minutes. After that, we'll play it by ear and see how things develop. I'm extremely confident in everyone's ability to play and play smartly, so I feel if I just stay out of your way and let you do what you do, we'll win.

Our squad had some difficulties in the beginning because Ikill4aliving had issues loading the map and came in 10 minutes later, he then got disconnected a few times but nonetheless he did a great job.

Once I had MarineSeaknight in my frogfoot, things got a lot better . Early in the round he saved our firebase from being destroyed by an APC I lased. Later in the round the US tried to flank us twice with an armored column through the south-east. First with a column of 2 humvees and a 2 tanks, later on with a column of 1 humvee and 2 tanks... but both times he responded immediately to my CAS requests and after I succesfully lased them, he took all of em out in less than a minute. That 's like the coolest thing I ever saw in PR . If they didn't bring an AAV the third time, we probably had gotten them again . Every single time I lased a target, he was there to take it out.

This was probably the best round I ever had on Kashan, thx again.

According to Goatboy so did the defence of South Village last for some 37 minutes.

But then again, I will just assume that the MEC defence of North Village placed the USMC in similar difficulties. I cant remember how many times I looked at the map, while ducking small arms fire as well as a pretty intense bombardment from tanks and APC's, seeing that the MEC were still holding North Village. It was a bit ironic that South Village "fell" only a few minutes after that the MEC-troops had been driven out of North Village.

Also, I forgot to mention before. I can stress enough what a morale boost it was to see the A-10 unload on the MEC-troops around South Bunker in the later stages of the game. From the ground, it felt like...vengeance.

This scrim was great fun and so close it could quickly have gone MEC's way too. Those last minutes were really intense! Everyone talked about not dying so we hid away like rats (well not that bad but it felt a bit like it).

I was in Belhade's squad. We all had some technical and RL issues along the way, but we did our job! We assisted in the south bunker flag capture and took out enemy apc's, tanks, firebases and infantry around north bunker. Many nice firefights there!

Props to imnotcanadian for his CO work, it was a solid plan.

MEC loss was close so i can't really find anything we did wrong. It all came down to kills/deaths in the end, so very intense and fun scrim guys!

Also thanks to Ferris, admins and others who arranged this, and for everyone who stepped up at such short notice when we were missing half the roster.

Look forward to the next one!

The scrim was top notch, by both teams of outstanding players, the end result, a battle on an epic scale, a salute to both Commanders. Tactical minds and teamwork at it’s finest.

Charity Case did his thing of great squad-leading, adapting to all situations with skill and leadership, thanks for having me in your squad.

The remaining squad-members (Vlexo.com, 420HootieMcBoob, Kr4ko), well done indeed, thanks for watching each other backs. I may not be able to hit the side of a barn, but I concentrated on keeping you guys in good health.

    Re: PR Internal Scrimage 3/29

A great scrim guys, I had a lot of fun leading one of the US tank squads across the map, from the initial large scale tank battles to the fragmented skirmishes and HAT clashes in the later stages. A big thanks to my own squad; Feisty Cattle, Masterjack and Stevie Ray as well as Fuzzhead's armour squad, which later switched out to running support in AAV's and humvees, which was much appreciated.

From a tanker's point of view, we were very well matched in terms of armour and anti-tank capability. It seemed that whenever one side gained an advantage in terms of tanks out in the field, the other would find a way to balance it out, whether that was CAS or the HAT which was fielded so effectively on the MEC side.

I screwed up on not showing up for the scrim...my daughter asked me to take her to the park. In scatterbrain fashion I spontaneously took her to the city on the train to a big city playground on Boston Common. After 2 hours of sliding and climbing and pigeon chasing and horsey sightings we went for cocoa and an early afternoon meal. I completely forgot about the scrim so I screwed up.

My apologies especially to the organizers of this event and all who stepped up to command or lead a squad. I love scrims and I'm bummed I missed it but at least I wasn't just boob toobing it.
