Irregulars vs. 6th Devils Brigade - 6/1/08

Today, as part of the PR IHS Mini Tourny, the Irregulars went up against the 6th Devils Brigade.

Through some problems on attendance for the Irregulars' side at first, I was unable to get a list of everyone who participated. If anyone has that, please post it here and I will edit my post.

The teams were 8v8, with the Irregulars team also comprised of some buddies from the 15th Young Warriors and various other PR TG regulars (thanks to Katanama for SLing one of the Irr Squads). The 6th Team comprised of mostly 6th Devils, with A. Wickens also participating.

Map: Qwai River, 16 players

Round One Ticket Results:

Irregulars - 10
6th Devils - 0

Round Two Ticket Results:

Irregulars - 65
6th Devils - 0

Thanks to everyone who participated! Good luck to the Devils on their upcoming battle agaisnt the E1st Euro Warriors, and good game everybody!

*Screenshots weren't taken by any of the Irregs, so if anyone has any screenshots of the final score or players' list, please post it here.

Great play from both sides i have to say. Usually when i play a game i'm always like "what is that squad doing" but it's satisfying when you don't even have to think what the other squad is doing, because you know they're doing it right.

I am done playing in this "tourny". The rest of the 6th can play, but count me out. I am quitting for several reasons.

1. There were only 4 Irregs that showed up. That doesn't sparkle with me. Instead, you had a mixture of random people that are NOT a part of your team. That is against most competition league rules.

2. You didn't know how the system worked. It sucks having to explain something nine times while playing.

3. The Tourny is not planned and executed well and there isn't much participation from the guy who organized it.

I had these feeling's prior to the match and I figured that this was going to happen. I am not upset that we lost, you all did a excellent job. Its just that this is a big waste of time for me. Good luck to all in the future.

By the way, whose idea was to put the tags for this thread. All that does is show your immaturity level and should be ostracized accordingly.

I'm still kinda pissed off for all the reasons mentioned above but i had an incredible amount of fun tonite. I don't think i will play the rest of the tourny if we don't get at least 7 Irregz into the squads. Beside that... it really was a thrill.

I'm sorry you won't be participating in the rest of the matches Dirtboy. I'm sorry things did not work out how you expected. If you want to discuss anything privately, you know how to contact me.

1. We had some guys that bailed out on us at the last moment or didn't show up for final role call. This is definately our fault, and we were told to gather up, exactly what you said "random guys" off the public TS and see if they wanted to play. And gathered up "random guys" we did. Though I agree that in major and strict competitions like TWL, if your guys don't show up, it's "too dang bad, you can't get replacements who aren't on your team". However, since this is supposed to be a friendly competition between different IHS's under TG, I, and the majority of others found it acceptable that replacements were fine to keep the game moving. Of course, our other option was forfeiting, because a re-schedule option was denied, so we played.

2. I think I can speak for most of the guys on my team when we all had the idea that this was going to be a one-round thing. There are two reasons we believed that. The first reason is because, http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...nal-draft.html

which inclined toward this being a 1 round thing (otherwise it would have stated that "the teams would be this team first", or "there will be two rounds played per match".

Secondly, I believe Nardini told us that the match would last 45 minutes. Many of us took into account that this was the time for the entire match and there would be no 2nd round. If we were misinformed, or missed any key information announced, please tell me.

I also took it far enough to see if there was a precedent set about how many rounds were played, and looked at the first match (10th vs. E1st) to see how many rounds they played. I found out that the round was forfeited by the 10th, so there was no precedent on the number of rounds played.

Lastly, I also feel that this tournament wasn't planned the best possible way (hence our misunderstanding with the number of rounds), and I'm sorry if your time was wasted and this whole thing caused some frustration (which it did!), for all of us. I'd also like to know what you mean about "putting tags" on this thread; the only way I comprehended that was that maybe my original AAR post was too "Irregulars" inclined. For that, I am also sorry, as I tried to make it as neutral as I could. I hope future matches/Tournys turn out better than this.

Respectfully,

Thank you for telling our POV Marine. Hopefully things can be worked out and maybe a rematch can be called.

I enjoyed the rounds we played. Katanama was a great SL. I was one of the random guys to squad up with the Irregs. Sorry if that caused a problem, I was just asked to do it. Thanks for the great games anyway, especially the first game. The grenades over the south west wall at government were very devasting to my squad....as medic I was very busy.

Re: Irregulars vs. 6th Devils Brigade - 6/1/08

I agree with most people here. Simply put, we weren't prepared, and we suffered because of it. We could've rescheduled, but after sitting in the private server for about an hour and dealing with recent scrimmage problems with teams backing out, when only four of you guys showed I didn't care, I just wanted to play the darn game before I had to leave. I personally did not expect the round to last as long as it did and had to leave before round 1 ended. I would like to continue or perhaps restart the tournament once teams can be properly set up, as there seems to be a string of scrimmages lately where one team or another backs off at the last second. I didn't specifically say it would last 45 minutes, someone asked over chat how long this is gonna be and I guessed around 45 minutes, because that's about how long it took us to fight the 10th twice on a 16 player map. A time limit probably should have been set beforehand, but it wasn't. And yes the standard tournament rule that we decided was to play each map twice and switch sides, that way you negate any imbalance due to game mechanics or map layout.
There was a reason Wickens played for us but if you found out I'd have to kill you .

LOL you didn't hear that from me. I enjoyed the games, more so the first as I had repeated "Connection problems" during the second round which led to my screen freezing. This keeps happening lately since the EA master server problems and nothing I do seems to help. Anyway it was a enjoyable experience even if the 8 v 8 thing is a little anti PR if you see what I mean. Still it certainly upped the tension being on a small map with so many good shooters, death was never very far away. Congrats to the Irregulars who played very well.

Re: Irregulars vs. 6th Devils Brigade - 6/1/08

Yes we should have prepped a bit more, but in my own eyes playing against a team that is only half full (there were only 4 irregs that showed up) the rest of the team was comprised of members of TG XV and non-ihs members, so in my eyes, it really doesn't count.

The irregs should have played with the players they had, and or/forfeited due to not being able to get 8 irregular players to show up.

but thats my own opinion, it was interesting i never played in one of these IHS tourney things before, but I hope in the future the teams know all the rules (though it was pretty obvious to me, 2 teams play 2 rounds, not 1 full team and one half team and the other half players from another ihs or non-ihs members)
