Exclamation Tales from the USMC - Kashan 64 Sunday Late Evening June 29th

Prior to this round I had a sub par commanding showing of 0-8 +/-1 or 2. Since taking a 3wk break from PR I had returned with a average of 3 kills if that, and a negative point average of at least 150. No matter what I did, I was in the minus, however my teammates were as nice and friendly to me as possible. And When I got the invite to Squad 7's Ranger Squad I humbly accepted, however at the time I saw there was no Commander in place So I Took the chance to hit apply, in hopes that maybe for this one time, I could do some good and cancel my negative losing streak.

Upon Accepting the Slot, I figured "Ok The map was loading and it looked as if this was going to be Kashan 16, the U.S. Has an advantage, Blackhawks, vs. the Mad Cow, this could be used as a plus." However this was not the case, Tanks showed up on the map and I knew right then and there, that I might have bit off a bit more than I could chew.

I spawned at the USMC Main with about 20seconds left upon the map commencing. I immediately Dispatched squad 7 which was in a Command Truck to proceed to setup a FB inside the Eastern Bunker Complex Entrance. Squad 3 spawned at South Village to thwart the opposing teams run at South Village, Squad 4 was going to North Village and our Armor Support which I realized had a language barrier, was heading towards South Village.

I checked around, The BH's were at the main, and I immediately grounded them and had no objections...This was something new, and things started to clear in my mind.

I set the CP, had to tell squad 7 who had set a rally south of North Village to proceed to the eastern Bunker complex. I had a plan in mind and this was the key.

Squad 5 had one or two men at this time, later on they would become a full squad but right now, Squad 4 was the main attraction. Squad 3 was labeled as the Air Support squad, and I let everyone know that for the Time being squad 2 was the armor, squad 1 was transport, squad 3 was Air Support and squad 6 was the LB (upon his arrival at north village squad 6 told me he had to depart, and North Village was going to need some help).

Squad 4 setup a rally, and were immediately hit with T-72 shells. Our Tanks were now having resistance with an Armor column that had taken the long drive south to South Village, things were beginning to look as they had in the previous rounds, lots of teamwork but no results.

I was then told by a transport pilot that he would be circling the main base, which immediately ticked me off and had me tell his SL, and type in team chat that No choppers were to circle the base, I didn't meet any hostile objections and the choppers were on the pad, with me in a command truck headed to North Village.

Upon Arrival, I saw 2 T-72, but was not fired on. To the east of Squad 4's rally I set a FB in a Ditch, and helped cap the flag which was at 80% in favor of the USMC.

Prior to this squad 7 had set a RP on the eastern wall of the Bunkers, and had moved in, they were given the first build order, built the FB, and moved to the North bunker. Squad 5 which at this time was a 2 man squad, was also inside the Eastern FB, and which the utmost confidence I relayed the message that they were to head to the south bunkers and to hold.

Now We just needed to make sure that things did not go sour.

The build order was put for the FB at North Village, we had one shovel on it, when a t-72 roared in gun's blazing and ran into the FB killing the lone Marine who was shoveling. Squad 4 had moved out, and I grabbed the kit of the Light AT marine fired off one LAT at the tank that was moving to the east of the buildings and started shoveling. Another T-72 had positioned it self on the road to my north west, took down a BH that had permission to enter the area, but it did not fire on me as I dug in to shovel.

Squad 7 and 5 were capping the bunkers, Squad 3 and 2 were holding the MEC Reinforcements. Even as Squad 2 advanced towards the East, I immediately thought failure was upon them, thinking of Dien Bien Phu, I figured the T-72's were going to shell them until nothing was left. Though Miraculously the Abrams held their own and were able to help thwart their attempt to bring out morale down. Despite losing a tank the squad of [HELL] was able to communicate with me in the sparse English they knew, and I was able to reply to them in what little Spanish I knew that was mixed in with simple English. There was something happening......things were looking up.

Squad 4 had been killed and had spawned back at the USMC Main. I dispatched squad 1, to move squad for the MEC Outpost in an attempt to destroy whatever armor was still there, and to take a chance.

After alerting squad 4 to tell his squad mates to not fire the mini gun with the threat that they would be reported and returned to base (why people feel the need to relive a bf2 vanilla moment I will never know...if only we had a resident psychologist to explain this phenomenon) things were moving smoothly.

The Bunkers were capped, I finished off the FB at North Village and I then alerted squad 5 and 7 to dig in. South Village had not been capped despite taking USMC losses that were above normal.

The Jets were up, and as I was able to retrieve an officer Kit at the North Village FB I could hear the engine warming up of the Warthog.

Squad 7 had asked for a build order, which I immediately complied. A bunker was now in place at North Bunker and squad 5 was defending south, while squad 4 was en route to MEC Outpost. Everyone was playing as a team, we had the communication part locked in. It was surprisingly one of the smoothest rounds thus far, no one was complaining, maybe the team wanted the win as badly as I wanted it.

Squad 2 was able to secure the South Village flag along with Squad 3, it had been capped while I was building and ordering other squads to build/defend.

A thought ran through my head that maybe sending squad 4 to the MEC Outpost was a bit exaggerated, however I stuck with my guns and kept them there, they were able to destroy the remaining Cold War Era Armor and Trucks, and had a CO truck in place.

Once South Village went Neutral with the Help of Squad 2's engineer and crewman from the first tank that was destroyed and then with the help of the remaining tank, I dispatched squad 5 which was now at full strength to south village.

Squad 4 was capping, squad 7 would be heading north and across the west in a humvee to set up a rp and to help take MEC outpost.

By now Squad 4 also had a tank to help support them (If this is wrong tell me I briefly remember them having one) Squad 5 was en route, and I dispatched some BH's to drop off supply crates in an attempt to build a FB at South Village.

Squad 3 was asking for CAS Markers left and right, I couldn't right click my mouse quick enough, and upon hearing the news of a MIG which was destroyed only brought joy to my ears. SL of Squad 1 had positioned himself to the north hills of the MEC Main, alerted me to the enemy movements and aircraft taking off and landing. Had I not known the MIG had been taking off, our F-16 would have been prey instead of the predator. The F-16 pilot didn't hover around the MEC main, he followed server rules, and let the MIG pilot feel some security before engaging him somewhere near the MEC Outpost/Bunker complex before turning him into a burning carcass that fell from the air harder than superman falling from an O.D. of Kryptonite.

Squad 5 encountered enemy tanks that were hiding in the hills (they were the ones that tried to destroy our morale at North Village during the beginning of the round. They were quickly spotted and taken care of, despite squad 5 encountering casualties. Squad 5 was able to secure the flag with Squad 2, and to then hold until given further instructions.

Sometime during this squad 2 lost their tank, I hadn't realized until I saw them leaving the USMC Main with AA support. Squad 3's SL was in the western hills spotting enemy forces for jets, and alerting the area of enemy AA. Squad 5 was alone in the South Village, with a RP, their weapons, and their determination for victory.

Squad 7 and 4 capped MEC outpost, a build order was given, and just as it went down they started getting hit with mobile AA fire, and a surprise attack from remnants of the MEC force in the northern hills and ravines. Their RP was taken, out, but somehow during this the Mobile AA was destroyed, squad 7 and the rest of squad 4 built the bunker and squad 5 was already en-route to the lone MEC Main flag.

I decided to join them in their quest for victory, however upon arriving at the flag, I proved I would do more harm then good as I was immediately taken out.

The A-10 also went down around this time, and as squad 2 was moving in from the north to MEC outpost they were encountering some sporadic resistance. I demolished the FB at north Village, and soon after received a build order for a FB in a gully near the MEC main flag, right behind the hill, I was glad to see this because there had been many times before when I was able to command on Kashan on the USMC side that I tried to have squads build one here, but it never happened........Today was not one of those days.

In no time, the flag was neutral, and then went in favor of the USMC team. Armor at this point was pouring in, firing as they moved in, asked that all armor/f-16 fire be directed on the MEC runway and hangar area, not wanting and vehicle to escape, not wanting any prisoners to be taken, "Kill them all, and let god sort them out."

The Grunts, and Jarhead's proved to be victorious, this was by far a surprise by my eyes, and I did a double take as I saw the MEC ticker reach zero as I hopped off a BH that was in the SW area, to try and catch a glimpse of the destruction we had created by Teamwork and Communication. Victory was ours for that period. Before the sun set at Kashan, an American Flag would be flying, and the distant sound of a guitar playing the star spangled banner would be heard.

You couldn't make this stuff up even if you wanted to. Victory was ours.

I was unable to Remember the names of the SL's of Squads 4, and 5. If you could please send or post those names to me it would be a great help. I was unable as well to see the names for the Pilots of Squad 3, those names would be helpful as well.

Thanks for a great round!! I was seriously questioning whether I should quit commanding all together before that round, thank you to the players who made this one of the best rounds I had ever played on Kashan. At no point other than doubting myself did I feel that the Squad leaders and their members would falter, it was a great round and the best part was no one complained at all, there was only one player who needed to be reported and it was probably because he thought he was the man, but as we all know, men don't win battles, team's do.

Thanks also to the Spanish Inquisition tank team, you guys were awesome, and you tortured the HELL out of the MEC Team.

*(Also thanks to dirtboy, I used his plan from .7, 64 Kashan as a model on how to attack/Place FB's and Bunkers and it proved to be the right plan of attack. Although we were not able to take the game in around the 30minute mark, we did complete it in less than an hour. Thanks dirt!! Much Success)

I spawned at the USMC Main with about 20seconds left upon the map commencing.
Don't understand this bit. You spawned 20 seconds before the others where spawning?
