    BF2 - PIRATES aug 24th 3:00 - 4:30

as a big fan of the other Pirates release... I was very excited for this chance to play. Game play is all better, and it maintains the fun factor I so enjoyed in the first version I played.

Maps - nice work. They look good. You all know if there is a place to get cement shoes and get stuck , I'll find it.. I didn't find too many. one up on the mountina over looking the flag you attack via the cave.
got a boat stuck once, but that too is a given for me.

lag - some folks complained about lag, but I didn't notice any at all, no matter the map... everything was pretty smooth.

Kits - all played pretty well from what I could tell. Its certainly an adjustment, flat out missing people at close range. I did notice after a couple maps, folks seams to prefer, and flocked to the carpenter kit. When I see that many people swarm to a kit... it makes me feel like maybe there is a perceived advantage with that kit. So maybe that should be looked at.
The marksman rifle scope really gets you in close, dang!
I wasn't able to heal anyone... the canon gunner kit was funny to see a canon appear from no where. reload takes along time, no matter the kit, so you better be quick on the switch weapon button.

VOIP - well, for TG style we'll need that.

    other various stuff:

Zombie mode - uhm, interesting... not my cup of tea though. it was an interesting change, but really kinda doesn't fit the TG model.

Capture the Flag - interesting, as all CTF sessions are. we had some problems with team balance on this.

Sea battle focus maps - interesting but its hard to get some boats turned. At one point I went out of bounds cause the boat was initially headed in that directions I couldn't get it turned fast / hard enough. the row boats with canons are still a blast to fire. I thin I would try and adjust steering, not for realism, but for easing the frustration factor, for the masses.

balloons and aircraft - interesting and campy, the rendering in the balloon was odd. if you "e" out of using a canon on the balloon you sort of are stuck up there, catching your own balloon pilots fire. no matter what you try and do.

maybe what I like about pirates is the natural order of too many snipers is gone. : ) lots of canon fire, and lots of grenades flying around, thats all fun.

Thanks for the opportunity to play / try it out. I look forward to playing again.
things look fun... I had to go when the battle racer aspect was being looked into. so many voices in my head...
    your humble reporter,

That was a major disappointment. Wat? NO SILLY NOT THE MOD!!! The Rally racing game mode crashing. Everything else was awesome.

Sorry I didn't make it--awesome hike to the nearest mountain ran later than expected when the fog/rain rolled in and we took shelter underneath the fir trees and built a roaring campfire. Your friendly neighborhood pirate was the only one able to get a fire going with all the damp wood.

I felt zombie mode was lackluster, due to the fact zombies were packing pistols.

CTF mode does NOT need the cannoner class. We had people just camping the ramparts with cannons.

I kept getting alot of system lag on some maps, especially that D-dayesque one (Name eludes me)

The engineer hand cannon needs its reload time increased. You can fire off two grenades in the time it takes to reload a musket, not to mention it has 3 backup weapons. (Sword, Pistol, Musketoon.)

The gliders not being able to reload is a bit of a problem. The cannons are already majorly inaccurate.

The parrot AA kit needs a bit more range, and tweaked tracking. I have yet to see a parrot take out a glider.

Zombie mode also had the bug in which if a zombie TKs another zombie, they go back to the other team. A major exploit.

Waterways on zombie mode need to be in out of bounds. A certain cheap D-bag nearly won the round by camping out in the water.

Overall it was hella fun, and I'll post anything else that comes to mind later on.

    P.S. WHERE'S TEH GROG!!11??!

ah thanks smokey... I was curious others feelings on the carpenter kit. you're right on about the reload. a couple times I felt the carp kit was an over match for the others. Then I watched and 1 map, everyone went Carpenter to start the round.

cannons on glider inaccurate? you mean fighter wasn't trying to wipe out his entire team?

My main problem was that the parrot wouldnt fire when I wanted it to so I was never able to hit anything when I had pressed the button then there would go a warying amount of time before it launched up to 30 sek. I might have missed some instruction on how to use it but it seemed buggy.

Thats all I have to ad to what allready have been said

No lag on a 2900xt with everything maxed at 1600x1200

I tried most things except for the winged things so I will have to return for a try of those I was gradually getting the hang of the hot air balloon, very good
I liked the city ctf map most.
I think the sharks in water should hurt you when passing close by, could give burning damage or something maybe?
I think a shark rubbing against you is like a car covered in sandpaper brushing past you, painful

Zombie mode should have 2 zombies to start with I think and no pistols since the knife does seem very powerful anyway but then how to stop fools in the water..
Maybe a long reload time ranged weapon for zombie like dead leg throw or something

I think the burning ship wrecks could stay around a bit longer too, adds atmosphere to a map and makes it more dynamic

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.

nah, kid, its all good. I've got no worries. Bring your worst. I've got like 3 different ways to control the volume, and if those fail. I just pull out the head phone jack.
