Great defense at Lumbermill/Carpathian Wednesday night 9/10 POE
Many good rounds Wednesday night with some fierce back and forth, in your face type of fighting. As mantis would say, "good times".
I want to recognize some great defense from one of the groups I SLed that night on Carpathian. We were the Lumbermill gang and held that flag
most of the round and held off many good attacks with solid defense.
Hats off to Elmeistro, Homer, dunstonuk, and Finestyle.
We were first to arrive at Lumbermill and were joined by Overlord's squad. We set up mines on the common attack paths and Elmeistro was the designated babysitter for the armor.
It was clear early on the the GER was going to play aggressively when they went on a fast flag capping rampage.
Things started to look pretty grim fast, but our team dug in and we started to turn things around. Overlord took his squad over the bridge and started an assault on North Cabin.
First or second attempt they claimed the flag. They started floating between Lumbermill and North Cabin and did a great job disrupting the armor coming out of the GER main base.
Troublesome4u's squad make the long journey to East Farm and quickly secured it. I think they patrolled East Farm to North Cabin for most of the game.
After a while the map pretty much stayed like this:

For the rest of the game there were some pretty serious battles between Lumbermill and West Cabin.
Multiple waves of attacks came from the West Cabin direction and we became poked and prodded from all directions like it was some evil experiment,
but for the most part we held our ground.
A few of the significant factors that led to the success of the squad were:
1. excellent spotting from the SMs
2. dedicated armor person to guard the assest (minimized the losses)
3. super fast AT response and restocking of mines at key points
4. solid communication within the squad to assist situational awareness
5. automatic response to SL orders and move markers
6. SMs willing to flex kits/roles to address changing situations
I have to say that it became a good ol' TG time of attack and defend. Solid fights on both side of the flag. After holding off a few attacks the mantis gang bumped us off the top of the hill
when they got some armor on the flag and someone found me hiding...I mean in my strategic spawning position and we had to start again from UKR base.
We attacked again and almost took the flag, had it neutral, but no cigar.
We regrouped and went to West Cabin where we capped the flag and I knew it would draw an immediate response from the GER squad at Lumbermill.
The second the flag went neutral I could hear the vehicles coming from Lumbermill. Again, great fighting on both sides of that flag.
Our squad did a great job with AT on the first attack but Whiskey came right back with the tank and started picking us apart one at a time.
I realized their whole squad came up for the party and there was no defense back at Lumbermill. I started off on foot across the valley and instructed my guys to spawn on me as they died.
By the time I got back to Lumbermill we were full on the flag and turned it back fast. We held it for the little time that was left at that point.
For me, it was a classic TG style round with great fighting on both sides of the flag. Overlord's squad edged us out for top squad at the end. Good job guys. The UKR came out of top by the end of the map.
Thanks to my crew for strong resolve and excellent defense.

As you probably know that was my squad that kept aggressively attacking. There were not enough players for the map size so I didn't want to bore my guys sitting on one flag all game like shotcha's squad did at East Cabin.
I had a goal of holding both West Cabin and Lumbermill, not very realistic when your facing a good squad on the other side but it was fun trying. We almost always had one of the two flags and for slims periods had both or none. Good fights.

Oh yes, we knew that we should expect the unexpected so it really kept us on our toes. It was fun facing armor from the main and then have your squad appear as ghosts out of thin air. Good fights. I could not stop laughing when we got West back late in the game for a short time and I instantly heard everything that had an engine start up and move toward us. Good lessons for all about changing the angles of attacks or countering with defense. I did not know shotcha was spectating from East. I saw a few guys come from that side but never saw him. It was a lot of ground to cover with ~40 players.

Good times Wed evening. In fact good times most evenings when you can get a squad that communicates together working as a team. Honestly this is what got me back into BF2 and playing POE was finding the TG server.
Thanks for having such a tight server guys.
