Failed USMC Assualt on Muttrah City
September 15, 2008
Today marked a low point as a USMC on Muttrah City. Lack of communication and poor air transport made this an easy victory for the MEC.
At the beginning of the round my squad, lead by |TG| Real_Caged formed with a good mix of kits. We flew into Muttrah Docks and were able to take them with no resistance. We set up a bunker along with 2 MG nests and barb wire. Our helo pilot, Sparkling_Water(?), picked up up for an assualt on North City. We dropped west of North City and had our first engagement. The MEC already having capped North City had a good amount of troops on defense.
Utilizing Flanking Manuvers we were easily overrun on the roof where my SL decided to hold position. Having lost docks due to no one defending them, we spawned back on the Carrier for another drop. Completely passing Docks, which was still neutral, we dropped in on West City Center for who knows what reason. We thanked our helo pilot, Sparkling, and he thanked us by hovering over us and "spotting out" targets. So with the rain cloud we called Sparkling we tried to "sneak" into North City.... while Docks was still in MEC control.
We got about halfway when a sniper pinned us down and we thus began to run in circles with our SL telling me to run try and draw out the enemy vehicles... Seeing as I was a Grenadier I asked if one of the Riflemen could go instead. Seeing as our squad was so l33t with kits we only had one rifleman who needed to keep the LAT supplied. After running out as ordered I immediately got sniped and was quickly revived by our awesome medics, no sarcasm intended. So being pinned down, we simply waited for our SL to issue some sort of order. Upon hearing the engine of a Vodnik he organized us for a defense. Having our LAT sit on the second floor of a building, we sat and awaiting our eventual death. Even after calling out the target several times the LAT did not fire, and eventually was killed along with the Rifleman and medic near him. Having nothing to counter the Vodnik we were wiped out one by one.
Respawning on the Carrier we finnally decided to try and get back the Docks. Once again we chose Sparkling as our pilot.... (Do not let this post dissaude you. He was an Excellent pilot. He just lacked judgement on where to drop.) So flying through some canyons to the North of Docks we head in following another fully loaded huey. Dropping right in front of their bunker with MG's and Vodniks and Troops firing, we were able to dismount with about 40% of our original force. Finding refuge in between the two warehouses we once again waited our demise as the MEC decided it was more fun to run us over rather than shoot us.
Finding a spot to the south of the Docks we were able to set a rally and regroup. After picking up a HAT I was able to take down an APC. When the rifleman dropped an ammo bag for me the rest of my squad jumped on it like it was crack and they were in withdraw. So having no more ammo, one of the riflemen decided to pick up a LAT instead. So our squad once again waited for some random moment to attack when we noticed another friendly squad moving in.
While we watched them move in, we tried to give covering fire but it was ineffectual. Again the MEC thought it would be amusing to run us over with Vodniks, BUT ALAS WE HAD A LAT THIS TIME!!!!!!! Or so that is what I thought...... I was mercilessly run down by the Vodnik but was able to call out the target for the LAT. I lay wounded anxious to hear the shot and the resounding boom of a destroyed vodnik, only to be saddened by the screams of death. Our LAT was gone..... sadly run over by a vodnik while he tried to pull it out. Respawning on the Rally it would seem that no one in our squad could take down the Vodnik and three of my SM's were run down for the second time. Being near the end of the round we simply gave up and remarked at the other squads hanging out in places completely irrelevant such as the hills to the north of Docks and MEC Fortress. Final score MEC=300, USMC=0 with no flags other than the carrier itself.
Sorry for the rant, but it was just so frustrating.

Re: Failed USMC Assualt on Muttrah City
Lat needs similar thought to hat now, he should be covered by others while walking with it already deployed and not walking out in the open.
3 of them available every 10 mins :/

Re: Failed USMC Assualt on Muttrah City
Well its not that we were not covering him, he was just off in his own world while we were calling out the target to him, and then just never shot. But yes, he should of been carrying it deployed as suggested by everyone in our squad. But he was just a little slow.
