EJOD Desert, Oct. 1st, ~4:00pm PST
This was one of the first rounds that I decided to SL since the release of 0.8..... This map was somewhat familiar to me and I had a good understanding of the tactics that could be used.
I started the squad and quickly found 5 other members. I cannot recall their names but these were some of the best squadmates I have ever played with. Following orders exactly we were able to complete all of our objectives with minimal ease. Starting the round we picked up a Comm Truck and proceeded to head to East City to try and slow down the USMC advance. We successfully made it to the Archway just North of the East City flag where we had planned to put down a firebase.... Since the rest of the team had already placed one at West City this was a no go.
At that point we encountered our first enemy contacts... a squad with stryker support. We had brought along a LAT for just this occasion and defended out current position giving him cover fire and time to line up a good shot. It was at this point that the commander, Celestial, had requested that I bring back the Comm Truck. I had told my squad that I would be back as soon as I could and to defend the archways.
As I was leaving I ran into the enemy stryker and somehow killed him with the Comm truck. (l337 haxxors perhaps??) From there I was able to run off to the commander post and resupply and wait for orders. As I was doing so my squad was defending the Archways with a tenacity you only see in hungry dogs fighting for food...... Not only did they hold that point, they were able to slow down the USMC just long enough for friendly MEC forces to begin their assualt. I picked them up at our previous location and proceeded to the hills to the west of the city to build a new firebase.
Driving up there with little resistance we suddenly stumbled upon a destroyed Stryker and a squad trying to build up a firebase. Having a LMG, Medic, Grenadier, and a Rifleman set up suppressing fire me and a fellow squadmate proceeded to attack in a two-sided flanking manuver. When in position we rained down grenades and then proceeded to attacked the remaining enemy troops and take out the firebase. From the corpses we were able to scrounge up a HAT kit, which came in handy as another Stryker began to fire upon us. Using myself at a target, I was able to distract the APC while my HAT took him out from another ridge. Having elminated most of the enemy threat we set up a firebase in the hills to the west as ordered.
We then proceeded to defend the western flank of the city from enemy troops. Once we noticed that West City was captured we then hopped into a vodnik and proceeded to recapture it. Encountering minor resistance we recapped West City as the rest of the MEC captured East City. Now was the time for our assualt on Gas Station.
Using speed to our advantage and the fact that most of the enemy opposition was tied up assualting East, my squad rushed for Gas station to begin the cap. Leaving one of my squadmates on the .50 we spread out and tried to make a perimeter. The plan being a success we encountered almost no opposition for the first few minutes. Then all hell broke loose. Nades and ricochets were all over the place as my squad was getting hammered by the USMC. After losing out gunner on the .50 I hopped on and proceeded to rain lead upon the approaching USMC. By this point we had already taken the flag down to neutral.
Barely holding on we finally got some APC support and proceeded to capture Gas, and thus bring about the end of the round. Utilizing great intrasquad communication and speedy assualts we were awarded Top Squad and a VICTORY!!!! All in All, a great round for me and the members of my squad! Good job team!
