    POE - Snake-Eyes 10/8/08 approx 9:00pm EST

    Well Well...

Yogi would've been proud... Its never over, til its over.

As the players of POE know, Snakes can be about a frustrating as they come, when you're the US trying to make land fall. This round was no different. I believe 32 player loaded... always the optimist, Project pulled on his SL sweatshirt... "Oh, We can do this." north beach, nothing doing, south beach nothing doing, middle... you get the picture.

We had to be down 300 tickets to 100 tickets when we finally Cap'd outpost. Thats when things started going all right for the US. Not that it was a cake walk by any stretch. Lobby fell pretty quick, and hotel next... as it started to fall... I can remember Project calling for spawn on lobby, and a move to hotel from there. HiTest and I got the go head to follow Khaerus the northern route. (tickets had moved to over 250 for UKR, and less than 50 for US) We had to cap out to win. Bleed was against us.
Hitest to my right about 50 yards off, I was chasing Khaerus across the plateau in back of the church moving on parking garage. A defender clipped K, but neglected to look past him. I got a clean res no shots fired, and the attack continued. K took the southern side of the motel pushing on the little courtyard where the flag is, while Test had gone around the warehouse building, north side. I picked up his back as he went in the east wall of the motel.
We headed up stairs, and out of the 2nd floor rooms. Test went down, TK'd. I got him up, and we pushed down onto the flag. I saw some movement in the alcove north of the flag, and went into that building. Busted up a pretty decent UKR party going on in there. needless to say, I only sent one of them to hell, before they punched my ticket on that crazy train. (HA!)

Luckily, Project and the rest of the team had made a huge push up from hotel onto parking garage, and the flag went down.

1 sniper was located on top of the warehouse east of parking garage, trying to rack up some kills... and I think Buflak had found his way out and was trying to get on a flag. He didn't make it... Cap out... US wins round 32 - 0.

It ain't over, til its over. Sweet! a great round. The UKR had us up against the ropes early on... I'm glad we were able to get over the frustration and remain on mission. Nice work everyone, both sides THAT was a GG.

No doubt Bench, GG. There is alot to be said about a kick butt SLer. Project never once gave up that entire round and that attitude kinda sparked something in our squad and our team. There was something about how he lead our team into battle, a perfect balance of humor, a willingness to win and an ability to listen to his squad members on ideas that might make us be victorius. So for that, Project, I thank you.

Once we finally capped the Outpost Flag it was game on. The real problem, as always, was making landfall with even a shot at advancement. Great job to the UKR team and Emdek (sitting in the US Artillery ), for really making it difficult for us to get a foothold.

That was a great round- the US had a hard time getting that foothold, and we were in serious trouble, ticket-wise, when we broke through that door.

We held outpost as our only foothold for what seemed like the longest, and then somehow, we knocked all the dominoes down at once. I still don't really know how it happened, but all of a sudden, all the flags went US and most of the bad guys were dead. I know Rhino split up our squad, and I went to the hotel, and I know H8 was in the tank, listening for danger-calls while we waited for Bufl4x to show his evil face- he was the last Uke standing, while the US had 32 tix and all the CPs... Poor Bufl4x got a face-full of my SAW to end the round.

Anyway, that round shows why that's a great map- sure, it can be a grind a lot of the time, but, wow: when it plays out like that, it's the most intense map in the rotation, and that 32-0 win was pretty satisfying. Big thanks to everyone that played the round.

There's something about that map - once you get a foothold, it's all uphill. I've played those where you never do (I often switch to US just to try), but once you get a flag, its usually like dominos.

What a blast, to come out victorious like that. Great teamwork.

That's because the vast majority of UKR spends fifteen minutes or so sitting on the beach shooting at boats and APCs. If you break through you can roll the whole map up while the jobbers wonder why no more boats are coming in.
